What Happened to Cowboys Fans?

What makes this board great is that we have a guy starting a thread here calling some Cowboys fans unintelligent while he's in another thread saying Jason Garrett is probably better than Sean Payton as a head coach.

It's all about the stars and has been for a long time.
Perhaps but we have bashed several of the stars without having more success with the team.

The stars have just been idolized because of the team’s success.

Take away the success associated with those stars and it could be a different story.

they like to hear themselves gripe and be relevant by creating controversy with ridiculous statements..attention hogs..
* personal note to self: by possibly thru the simple implementation of the above applied terminology I.e.
" Attention Hogs"
rather than the more aptly appropriate verbiaged vernacular of "Attention ******" might(?) ,,,refrain the powers of that hand that slaps one's privileged casing-liner to the benched& unprivileged section of seating arrangements*

Thing is, we know Garrett isn't going anywhere until Jerry gets tired of him, so billboards and such would be pointless. Very few fans actually like Garrett, but some simply see no recourse but to wait and hope, with a realistic eye on his faults and strengths.

No.........I think one of the big reasons that Jerry is able to be so flippant in his coaching and what he does is because not only the media, but the fanbase as a whole are soft on him. If the media was hammering Garrett every day, hammering Jones, the fans were putting up signs in the stands and taking out billboards to fire Garrett then Jones would feel much much more pressure to do it. Even talk radio is soft on Jones.

The attitude is much the same as you just pointed. He isnt going anywhere so whatever attitude. People are going to go to the games regardless.

Fans and media were hammering Jerry every day. Many broadcasters made a living off it and still do.

If he hadn’t had the early success with Jimmy he would have been ran out of town.

Once the new stadium was built. Game over. Jerry no longer needed the local fans which have fallen off sharply.

We use to be one of the most intelligent fan bases in the NFL. Now we hang off of every word of the media's click bait that is purposely targeting our uniformed response.
Like this post?

All of Jerry’s contributions which he was inducted for has paved the way for Jerry to continue his selfish foolishness despite the continued criticism.

The support for Garrett is mostly because we realize he provides some hope influencing Jerry in basically a hopeless situation while also providing us a connection to our glory years.

Is it any coincidence that the lowest IQ posters are either dyed-in-the-wool Dak supporters*, conspiracy theorists, or Baghdad Bob-level sunshine pumping apologists for the team?

I would argue further that they typically are all three.

*Thats not to say if you support Dak you’re an idiot, but we all know the type of posters I’m talking about.

I was talking to a young Cowboys fan last night at the bar. I mentioned being a fan through the rough times makes it all pay off when we win it all like when we went 1-15. He nearly passed out and questioned if I was telling him the truth. I thought he was going to die when I told him Troy, Emmitt and Irvin were on the team and Jimmy was the coach.

In our 1-15 season of 1989, Troy Aikman was a rookie and played 11 games due to a broken finger on his left hand. Michael Irvin in his 2nd year, played 6 games due to a torn ACL. Emmitt Smith played 0 games. He was still playing for the Florida Gators.

You really shouldn't question other fan's intelligence when you can bungle such an easy thing such as this. So, did you actually tell that young fan this untruth? Or in your haste to further your attack on the intelligence of the Cowboys fanbase, just throw this out there without thinking it through?

The first sentence is pretty silly and loaded with personal biased.

So, your supportive of Jerry and the contributions he’s made to the league? You believe it’s raised the level of the game?
What I think won't matter to you. You'll do what you always do. The "Selfish - foolishness comment is just dumb.
He must have kicked your dog.

I'm not sure if he called them all - often you could hear the QBs on the field just making things up as they went - but whether he did or not, it would have been the right call during the season, but not in the Pro Bowl. The problem with running the ball in short yardage in the Pro Bowl is the whistle blows when the ball carrier just gets touched, and sometimes even before he gets touched, and nobody is blocking hard and the RB isn't running hard.
Agreed. I hope he is the one that called them. Sometimes these short yardage call even though it maybe predictable is the right call. This year with a fresh and healthy O-Line and Elliot we will be making more TDs. I hope. Lol.

we hang on every single word...good...bad...indifferent.
we hang on every,single,solitary word.
it's the off-season.

How would you describe Jerry’s intent on running football operations his style and personal agendas?

You don’t believe it’s selfish or foolish. I could think of or use other adjectives. Those are actually some of my kinder words. Lol

I like the calls with Elliott as QB. Using Elliott on fake punt was brilliant also. I’m sure no defenses would pick up on that. Lol

It’s actually quite an embarrassment that going into the 4th qtr we were even talking about the first shutout in Pro Bowl history.

I don’t think anything has changed, it’s just the social media effect and 24 hour news cycle that has is hanging on every talking heads rant. Our organization is all flash there is no substance. We are just one of the teams that does not really care about winning championships. Some fans just have a Stockholm syndrome effect with this team. The difference is I know Jerry doesn’t care truly about winning, he would rather lose his way than win with someone else getting some of the credit. You would think a 75+ year old man would gain some perspective and humility to realize we are only on this Earth for 80-90 years if your lucky. Just learn from your mistakes and be humble enough to realize that his way has not worked for 23 years.
