Cowboys Over-Performed?

Are you using the article or not?

Again, I DON'T BELIEVE NOTHING WAS LUCK ABOUT THE SEASON, THE ARTICLE IS B'S IN MY OPINION. but if we were to believe the article, AGAIN, IF we were to believe what the article say, even what they presented. You have to give the coach credit. Stop co piloting and get that through your head.

And AGAIN that's not the conclusion one should get from the article. If one "believes" the article, the conclusion shouldn't be the coach did a good job.

How many times do you have to have this explained to you?

LOL. It's amazing the lengths and silliness people will sink to in order to protect what is nothing more than an average to maybe decent NFL head coach.

So again, who the head coach really has no bearing on the outcomes of games. Because that's pretty much what you are saying.

I'll say it slow for you, ultimate....the ....players.....on.....the ......field.....decides....the.....outcome....of....games. is that slow enough.

And it's up to the coaches to make the right calls during a game, prepare the team properly to go out and make plays on the field to decide the outcome of a game, etc.

Your position is essentially that coaches really don't matter. That everyone runs basically the same plays and coaching has little influence on the outcomes of games.

That's idiotic and proves my point about how silly some of you will go to defend what is basically nothing more than a decent coach at best.

But if what you say is true, then there are a crap ton of NFL teams wasting a lot of money on coaching staffs and head coaches since apparently the coaches aren't that important to the grand success of a team. Dallas should can Garrett then since he makes $6MM a year reportedly. They could hire a guy for like $1MM to do what Garrett does (which apparently isn't all that important) and Jerry would save $5MM.

Then why even have a HC? Just hire a couple of guys to call offensive and defensive plays and some position coaches to run drills during the week.

Because apparently, according to your view of how football works, that's all a team would need.

I also bet that not one of those people you mention above would also take the position that coaching isn't important on Sundays and that it's no surprise that the teams with the better coaches are more successful than the ones with middling or bad coaches.

So Andy Reid, Dan Reeves, Marty Short, Marv Levy, Don Coryell, Jim Mora, Sr all considered very good some considered great never won a super bowl with good damn talent. But yet they couldn't coach a team to super Bowl wins. Do you call the bad coaches?

Do I need to slow it down even further?

Call it what you want, ultimately the players on the field decide outcomes, I'm not the only one who says it. Current and former players across the league say it, coaches say it,

Especially bad coaches looking to save their own skin. Thankfully, the "execution" line didn't save Scott Linehan from his "execution".

What he's trying to do is to provide coaching with a "get out of jail free card". They do a masterful, brilliant job all week and these "dumb players" go out there and "screw it all up" by "failing to execute" on Sundays.

:lmao:

I want you to listen to these guys talk about execution. I stumbled upon it a little while ago.

Not sure what your point is in the concept of your continued claim that coaching isn't really all that important.

But no, those guys aren't the elite of coaches because they didn't win a SB. They are all very good coaches though and certainly much better than your boy Jason (although, I wouldn't put Jim Mora in the same class as Reid or Levy or even Reeves - both those guys were way more successful).

The slower you say it the sillier you sound.

The basic point here is that your entire premise is that coaching really isn't all that important. That coaching can't be a deciding factor in why a team wins or loses. That in fact, everybody basically runs the same stuff and it simply the team that "executes" better each and every weekend in each and every game that wins. Play calls, schemes, game plans, etc............. don't really matter. Coaching can't influence the outcome of a game. Coaching can't factor into a game. Coaching basically doesn't matter, and all coaches are basically the same.

Just the really good ones like Belichick and then guys below him like Reid (who has been to 6 conference champ games in his career) simply have had the sheer luck of having players and teams that just execute better than the other teams they have faced, more often than not.

But sure...... slow it down for us. We could use the chuckles.

Little knowledge on execution and the players. 12- 13 minute mark

Again without going around and around for 30 days again, it's ultimately on the players. Take it how you want

And the coaches can put players in better positions to succeed. Coaches can make proper play calls within a game that exploit weaknesses of other teams. Coaches can make adjustments in game based on what the opposing team is trying to do.

Your continual denial of that shows how silly you are being here.

In your world, football is simply rolling the ball out there and letting guys play and things like strategy, adjustments, etc. don't matter.

The flaw in your - and Broaddus' and Mickey's argument is that both they and you somehow think that the two things are separate, when in fact they are intertwined. A coach is not only responsible for the playcalling, but also the execution of the plays he's calling. You can call the greatest plays in the world, but if your players can't run them, or they don't play to the players' strengths, they're worthless.

What does this prove? No one has said execution wasn't a problem for this team. Don't create strawman arguments now.

Where we criticize you is that you want to make it ALL about execution. That the team didn't succeed this year because they didn't execute and that the coaches bear pretty much zero responsibility for the outcomes.

It was also interesting to note that before the segment you wanted us to listen to, Spags is going on about how teams in the playoffs ran the ball well, implying that running is basically a simple concept........ just hand if off, block the guy in front of you and presto, you run the ball! But if people were paying attention and reading the analysis after the Rams game, it was pointed out in multiple places that the Rams coaching staff did a fantastic job in using motion and formations and some new wrinkles to get our DL and our LBs often out of position because of tendencies their staff saw in how we played.

You and I guess Spags, who is a Garrett homer so his opinions here are certainly not unbiased, will likely dismiss that because it doesn't fit into the worldview that coaching doesn't really matter all that much.............
