The Cowboys haven't announced their coaching staff changes yet. Jon Kitna was hired more than a week ago presumably as the quarterbacks coach, and Kellen Moore is expected to get a promotion ...

as long as garrett makes the playoffs he gets an extension. maybe if he doesn't. they will blame the season on moore and say we're getting a real oc next time.

it's getting harder for me to follow this team. I can understand going through a rebuild process, but to intentionally support mediocrity is a slap in the face. even marvin lewis is no longer with the bengals.

Oh nice, I didn't realize this was the last year of his contract.

Contract year!!!!

It is what it is. I’m over it .

Waved my white flag years ago and trying to figure out how to overcome our dysfunctional organization with more talent which is our greatest hope.

As long as Jerry Jones draws breath, Jason Garrett will NEVER be on shaky ground.

JG may eventually be replaced as HC, but he’ll then simply move into some FO position.

He didn't do **** before to be rewarded one then, the same can be said this time around as well.

I don’t agree with that, but I do know Jerry likes to put his guys in those final year contracts to see them earn it. He’s not giving him an outside OC for that same reason. He just wants a one-year placeholder to see if Jason delivers.

Anyone think that Jerry is saying this in case that the good HC/OC candidates that he is hoping to hire all deny him and he'd rather have Garrett instead of like Hue Jackson?

Things clear from this article, and not really a surprise to anyone:

1) Jason isn't going anywhere unless a season completely unravels by mid-season and he can't recover.

2) We are not getting an OC of any caliber. It will likely be Moore.

3) Garrett will be more active and even have ultimate say in playcalling, meaning he can override whatever Moore calls.

4) Jerry has gone from hiring Jason as a rising star 10 yrs ago, to calling him a walk-around coach a few years ago, when he removed playcalling duties, to now being critical to the offensive success of the Cowboys once again.

5) Jerry has no critical thought process where he learns from his mistakes. Every year is a potential gusher year even after numerous dry hole years. He's a true Wildcatter owner and we're just along for the ride.

6) We have to hope that a combination of Garrett, Moore, and Kitna can bring out Dak's inner greatness and bring us a SB.
