I'm old school so I love the choice. I don't listen to them and likely won't watch the halftime show, but IMO any SB halftime show that doesn't include "Up with People" is a good thing.

Well, I'm not all that into pop music to be honest, and I find it quite repetitive. Maiden, Metallica, and other such bands like that are actually very well known and would be good options. I also think that Rammstein would do a spectacular job during the SB in a circumstance in which they are invited to perform the show. I think that fans would run to the hills in joy if Maiden got to play the halftime show. I know I would.
All music is repetitive.

Oh, I don't doubt it, but today's show was complete and utter rubbish. Really embarrassing with the world seeing that awful display of God only knows what that was.

They are trying to appeal the younger generation. I have albums of the bands you mentioned but it's old. Albums. Not a fan of the rap but Maroon 5 was good, live voice and no lip synching. Maiden was popular in the 80's and early 90's and only appealed to metal fans, same with Judas Priest, Megadeth, Anthrax or Dokken. Let it go, the NFL does not appeal to metal fans in general. Wanna see a Janet Jackson saggy? You simply have a different prefencence of music.

I might be wrong but the only thing close to metal would be hard rock and that would be Guns and Roses and cameos by AC/DC and Aerosmith. the SB goes with what's popular with the masses at the time like Bruce Springstein, Phill Collins, The Who or Run DMC.

Guns and Roses would be fine.

Who was that show aimed at?

It was intended to offend the least amount of people. Marron 5 is about as pop vanilla as it gets.

The music world wanted the Atlanta super bowl to showcase Atlanta "music" which is basically a DJ and someone rhyming into a microphone........ describing all the things they spend money on

I think the NFL was afraid of it turning into the Colin Kapernick halftime tribute.

Rammstein, lol. That would never work.

Mediocre show this year, Big Boi was the best part, IMO. Should have had him out there longer. Glad they paid some respect to Outkast in ATL, though.

Firstly, I think that the current "artists" are terrible that they've been putting up for the Super Bowl Halftime Shows. Maroon 5 is RUBBISH compared to the music I like. I'm a Classic Rock/metal guy. This is in the NFL Zone because it's addressing the halftime show, but if the mods would like to move this elsewhere, that's fine.

I understand that the Super Bowl is a very American event, but they have also had international people do the halftime show. I recall The Who doing the halftime show for example. After googling it, I found that also Phil Collins (SB XXXIV), U2, Sting, Sir Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, and Coldplay have done the halftime show at different times. So, I don't think it's unheard of for international artists to do the halftime show. Who is my suggestion for the next halftime show then?

Rammstein!

Yes, they're German, but MAN, according to a lot of friends of mine that have seen them (yes, mostly my German friends), they put on an INSANE show!! For those of you that don't know Rammstein, here are 3 of my favourite songs by them. One of them is a lyric as opposed to the video

1. Sonne -

(Had to take this one out as I didn't realize something in it)

2. Mein Herz Brennt -

A bonus one as this is their best known:

Du Hast! -

Now, how about THAT for a halftime show? Just those 4 alone would DEMOLISH any of the groups they've had lately for their "shows". Oh, and they use some INSANE pyrotechnics for their shows. Yes, their songs are in German (with one exception), but it would be really cool!

Thanks for sharing. They are entertaining

I think the music would work, but they might be too powerful for what the NFL seems to want.
