If he does get cut, will he find another job, or retire?

Retire. Too old to start with another team, besides with his injury history what team would want him? Even if he played sparingly, it only takes one poor step on a play and the hammy would go out again.

That's sad, he's one of the smartest players in the NFL, but his body just can't handle the strain.

BTW, I've ordered my Vander Esch t-shirt...

I think he has trade value

Any team that doesnt have two borderline pro bowl LBs who are under 25 years old should he interested in one year removed all-pro Sean Lee

Also Spotrac has a way better list than this that I created a thread with.

Lee did a tremendous job for us fans and team. having said that, Smith and Vander Esch wow simply wow.
Lee if we could retain him at the right price for rotation would be a smart move. what could we possibly get for him? at 33 and a history of injury it would be insulting or a reality check. if we release him we save 7mil..3.075 dead cash. then hire him as a LB coach or DC assist.

That would be ideal, but I doubt we ask him to take a paycut after he us a solid in 2015 with sitting out the last game.

The Cowboys already made good on that. They reworked his 2016 contract to give him a $125,000 per game roster bonus to make up for the $2 million he missed out on in 2015.

one year removed all-pro Sean Lee

Lee was selected as All Pro for the 2016 team, that's two years removed. And that was followed up by playing in only 11 and 7 games the next two years. At 33 years of age, with a long injury history, nobody's trading for Lee. If he gets cut by Dallas I'd not be surprised if he's signed by another team, though...

Vander Esch gives him huge props as a coach. Would he want to take that humongous pay cut just to keep working in football?

Depends on what he wants. Does he want to be a huge part, player-wise, of a SB winning team? Does he just want to be part of a SB winning team, even if he just plays a little? Is being a coach on a SB winning team, and not a player, acceptable? Does he even have a desire to be a coach, or did he just do that with LVE since he needed something to do while sitting on the bench? How important is the big contract to him? How's his finances, did he save his money/invest well so money's not an issue?

And it also depends on what the team wants. Do they feel he's valuable enough to pay even a few million or one million a year, or do they feel he won't play enough to help the team? Do they need every available cap dollar to sign Lawrence, et al, and can't afford even the veteran minimum for Lee?

We can speculate all we want, eventually we'll see if he stays...

After the playoff loss, Lee said he wanted to continue playing, and Stephen said he wanted to keep him. So, my guess is Lee takes the payout and backs up Wolf n Predator.

That would be great, though I wonder, Lee didn't seem very good when he did play this year, maybe he needs to be in the flow of the game to be effective, or he was never fully healthy, or he was being careful not to get hurt. Or any number of other reasons...

Excellent point, I don't recall seeing Sean Lee play to his standard last season. As you stated, him coming in the game cold didn't seem effective for him nor the team.

He was dominant against Seattle and one game before that...Carolina maybe?

But I do agree that he's not as effective coming in cold, very much a rhythm player. That's kind of why I don't love the idea of him as a depth player, but at a reduced contract I'd have a hard time saying no.

You going to be not picky over one year?

Lee has trade value, so yes someone might trade for Lee like I said

He cant have a lot of trade value. Yes his play would say so, but he hasnt done a lot of that during his career and that hurts that idea bad. I would see about redoing his contract and keeping him as depth. If he would be willing that is.
