Houston is actually a little closer to Austin. Only by maybe 30 miles or so.It's literally closer than every other franchise. So, it's not unrealistic to assume.

I stand corrected. 30 of 31 other teamsHouston is actually a little closer to Austin. Only by maybe 30 miles or so.
The Cowboys can cut four underperforming contracts today and pay for the first two years of any Earl Thomas contract without impacting current cap room by one cent:
Two years of All-Pro safety play for "free".
- Sean Lee - saves $7 million
- Tyrone Crawford - saves $6 million
- Allen Hurns - saves $5 million
- Terrance Williams - saves over $2 million
I'm not cutting Crawford for $6M, but the rest of them can go.
I think the move has nothing to do with anything football. I think him signing with SF is as good of a chance as Dallas. A move to the meteoplex would've made me say it will probably happen. A move to Austin does nothing for me. He's not going to drive home every day after practice to Austin. Lol he can see his family and spend as much time with them if they lived in sea or Austin if he signs with Dallas. But would you at least admit that the move doesnt hurt the chances of it happening any?

Again, players do this all the time. I'm not a fam of Austin and won't even visit much less live there . But a lot of people love it and it is a great place to live and raise a family , for those people. Lol I have friends, cousin and a brother who lives there and all love it. To me this a is a life decision, not a football decision. Especially when you consider his and his wife connections to Austin. If he moved to the meteoplex where he could see his family everyday and spend time with them, then I would see the connection. But Austin changes nothing about him seeing his family more during the season to make a connection between him signing with Dallas. The fact that he wants to be here, we was willing to give a pick for him is a connection, moving to Austin isn't.
I've addressed my mistake above. My point was it's not unrealistic to suggest. Doesn't make it a fact.Except Houston, but even so, it's not like he could commute to practice and games from Austin every day. If it takes flying anyway for his family to see him, they probably aren't going to be visiting every weekend during the season, especially since most of the weekend he wouldn't have time for them with practice and the game, so does it really mean much that it might take a 2-3 hour flight instead of a 1 hour flight between Austin and whatever city he plays in? Players often have homes in the city they prefer to live in and eventually retire in, plus an apartment in the city they play in. ET went to college in Austin, and Austin is a very desirable city to live for a lot of people due to the beauty of the region in Texas and all the cultural opportunities, so it very easily could just be that Austin is where ET prefers to live regardless of where he plays.
He is greatly overpaid. Great guy, not worth that contract though.I'm not cutting Crawford for $6M, but the rest of them can go.

I was talking about Crawford.Absolutely...over 30 and wants 12mil per season. Yikes, pass him by and draft a safety if you just have to have one.
Maybe Houston Texans dig him.

I been hearing the Texans are interested too. Austin is much closer to Houston than Dallas.Maybe Houston Texans dig him.
The fact that he has a injury history brings the price down plus this is where he wants to be.I'm sorry but am I the only one who is NOT on the ET train here? Are we seriously contemplating signing another Sean Lee type? A high motor player, who is hurt all the time? And at what cost to this team in $$? I'm sorry, at his age and injury history, if JJ wants him that bad, it has to be on a WAAAY reduced cost to this team. And we ALL know he is not going to do that. He wants to be HIGHLY compensated like say THE top S in salary. Nope, I am not on that wagon of get ET at whatever cost, just get him here. We can do much better saving the money and getting a young player and let Richard teach him the in's and out's of the position.

Thomas actually produces (when healthy).
Moving his family to Austin has fueled rumors? How so? Austin isn't a hop and a skip away from the DFW area, its over 3 hours drive time just to get there from Fort Worth. Its not like he would be making a commute like that on a daily basis.
