I want to be optimistic about Kellen. I want to think that he is the answer. But what indication do we have that he will be anything as an OC? If he was such a brilliant offensive mind, how come he wasn't more involved last season as QC? Did he try to speak his mind and was told by linehan and garrett to go sit in the corner and let the grown folks talk? Were his fingerprints on the offense last season at all? Did dak improve or regress?

The cowboys have been here before. I've been sold a bill of goods by Jer and Co. so many times its getting harder to believe that anything that they do will produce results beyond the playoffs. I will wait and see. Wait and see what happens in FA, the draft and preseason. Week one I'll be 2 gallons into the kool aid and hoping for better results. We will see what happens.

What will make me think things are different? Motion. Moving dak out of the pocket with bootlegs. RPO's. PLAY ACTION PASSES OFF ZEKE. Run the ball DOWNHILL inside the 5 ydl and get rid of the long developing off tackle runs that go no where. While youre at trimming the fat off the playbook, take the jet sweep and put it on the curb. It never works in dallas unless its run by the other team.

IMO you don't need Moore to be brilliant and outsmart the league, you just need him to be NOT-LINEHAN and not be ridiculously predictable.

Calvin Watkins nailed it on The Atlantic, I'll copy (copyright fair use!) a bit from his article on this:

Creativity is a buzzword around The Star these days. What does it mean? Do the Cowboys need to utilize four-wide-receiver sets more often? Do they need to line Ezekiel Elliott up in the slot six times per game? Do Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup need to run more diverse route combinations? Instead of three receivers running curl routes on a third-and-seven, should just one guy run a curl? I would say all of the above. Sometimes, the Cowboys offense got too predictable. Here’s one example: Whenever Terrance Williams entered the game, you knew a run play was coming. The same rule applied to Noah Brown. If a sportswriter can figure that out, imagine what defensive coordinators know. The Cowboys’offense just got too stagnant last season. And considering the pace of NFL offenses, it was a little embarrassing.

Now that one I understand. I once lost my reading glasses on my head. I had to pretend I wasn't embarrassed when my granddaughter rolled her eyes at me and said, "Oh grandpa, you know they're on your head".

Lose my glasses on my head more often than I’d like to admit!

Can we stop with the hand wringing about past failures? Can we instead discuss the future? Is anyone intrigued by Kellen Moore as OC? How do you think he’ll change things? Should we be excited, or are we doomed?

Tip ‘o the cap to Stasheroo, who inspired this thread!

I am not inspired by moore. He will be another Garrett puppet.

And he didnt show me anything while working with dak that has inspired me too.

Good draft. Good FA and own signings will inspire me more.

I like the kitna signing thou. Moore is just another guy we need to get rid of.

I prefer to wait a year before I emphatically declare him a puppet.

well then, bye bye. seems like you are not fan.

I’M not a fan?!? I’m not the one that sounds dissatisfied with someone’s job performance before they even started! By the way, which team do you root for?
