The Dak haters are stupid plain and simple. Guy has been a revelation of a 4th rounder.
Dak has been better then good, but the biggest problem with him is when he's off its just ugly. And he needs to learn when to not take a sack and hold on the ball. Romo, Brady, all these QBs had the same problems early in their career.

Brady first 3 yrs starting at QB

INTs
12,14,12
TDS
18, 28, 23
SACKS
41, 32, 31

2014 WAS Romo's best year. His interception numbers went way down because of the O-line that opened holes for Murray and he wasn't asked to throw the ball all over the field as shown by his passing yards that year. That O-line was better than 2017 line or 2018 line that Prescott played behind. Dak bashers dismiss that. They also dismiss the fact that Romo had Dez and Witt in their prime. Yes, it would have been nice to see Romo and Zeke on the same field but the man was 36 years old before that could have happened. Time didn't stop and wait for him. It doesn't stop for anyone. Romo retired, it was time.

Dak bashers also conveniently forget that Aikman rarely threw for more than 250 yards behind one of the best O-lines of all time. Troy would have been killed with his lack of mobility behind the 2017 and 2018 O-lines Prescott played behind.. He got his head rattled more than a few times behind a great O-line. Yes, Troy was more accurate, his chemistry with Irvin was magic and he had Emmitt. Still his passing yards to this day are not tops, pretty average in fact. I know, different time and game in the 90's than todays pass happy league and not a fair comparison because of different HC's, OC's, game plans etc BUT....

Troy wasn't in a pass happy league. Aikman had 500+ pass attempts just once in his career. Prescott threw 500+ in his third season and near 500+ in his second.

Dak supporters also seem to forget that the NFL was totally different back then.

yup

But what i was trying to go with this thread is this.

If Linehan would've went with more bunch sets, more misdirection routes, more presnap motion, more passaction. The guy would have been a HC again. His inability or just unwillingness to switch it up is what got him fired.

People need to stop injecting where Prescott was drafted into the argument at this point.

Yes, Prescott has exceeded what should be the expectations for a 4th round QB. I doubt anyone would argue that.

But we are 3 years into his career, so where he was drafted no longer matters. At this point the question is simply is he good enough to take this team on a SB run? Some thing yes, some think no. But where he was drafted is a meaningless data point here.

I dont compare Dak to anybody.

What i will say about Dak and Bradys similar ypa is the are throwing the same types of routes. The difference between the two sets of offenses as a whole is the Patriots are more efficient and the plays are better and are designed to get the wr open. While the dallas offense depends on the wr being able to get himself open.
No doubt the Cowboys offense relies on the WR getting open and the Patriots scheme and run bunch formations and line RB s up as WRs and try create mismatches but Brady has already shown he can thread the ball into WRs even when they are covered. The Cowboys offense supposedly scaled back and kept things simple for Dak in 2016. But in 2017 they said they were going to open things up and Dak couldn't make the throws consistently so they scaled it back again . You wait and see. Moore won't be able to do much different. I really think Dak is limited and can't make all the throws that Linehan wanted him to.

Dak is a different passer than Romo, Dak is ok with throwing 3 yard dump offs instead of throwing down field. Romo was more of down the field passer, avgs only tell part of the story. Tony was accurate as in he threw to a spot so his receivers could run after the catch, Dak is inconsistent with his placement, inaccurate, his receivers have to stop or jump for many of the passes only to be tackled right away with little chance for yac. I feel Dak would have better numbers if he hit his receivers in stride more but that falls back to accuracy. You cannot use stats to compare two different passers.

In fact Romo's 2014 season and Dak's 2016 season are absolutely a valid comparison. The best comparison in fact. Same HC, same OC, same game plan. Same O-line. Tyron. Leary/Collins, Freddy, Martin and Free. Dez on both teams (in fact Dez 2014 was pre-foot break), Witt on both teams ( in fact he was 2 years younger in 2014). Both with record setting RB's. Bith the 2014 and 2016 teams had defensive lapses and many of the same weaknesses. Yes, Romo threw for more TD's in 2014 than Dak in 2016. Yes Dak ran for more TD's in 2016 than Romo 2014. Different QB styles but a very accurate comparison. Much more accurate than comparing Dak to any QB in the NFL who play for a totally different team and a totally different scheme and game plan.

I dont understand where you guys come up with that scaled down. I havent read anything saying this. The only thing i have ever read was the offense would be more Dak friendly. But even with that being said, the same types of plays were being called since back to 2014. Has there been a change? Honestly has there?

What? And what's different between 2014 NFL and 2016 NFL Syd? Please inform the uninformed? If you notice, I acknowledged the difference between NFL 90's and NFL 2016

That's possible. I can't say one way or the other because it never happened. All I know is, the only difference between the 2014 Cowboys team and 2016 Cowboys team was QB and schedule. Now someone will say Dak had an easier schedule. So be it. Both QB's lost to the same QB in the playoffs. Yes, different play calling may have taken them further. Woulda, coulda, shoulda played for the win against the Pack in 2016 but that's conservative for ya. We'll see how 2019 goes

I acknowledged the difference between Aikmans NFL and Prescotts NFL. Do you remember how many fans, media pundits and talking heads called the Aikman selection a bust after his first 2 years in the NFL? Many.

See this is what im talking about. The inability to read a thread and turning it into this. Im not comparing the two QBS, im comparing the similarities in production. And my thoughts that the system being gameplanned was more focused on ball control eating the clock with short high percentage plays. and pointing out the that one thing that this offense got out of these 2 qbs was wins. and further pointed out that if Linehan would've changed things from yr to yr to add new wrinkles into the playcalling he would've had more success.

I dont know why you people are incapable of looking at everything as a he's better then him thing. The football talk in here has gone down so much.
Your post is perfect man. We’ve heard guys like Broaddus tell us that SL’s offense puts an emphasis on ball control, not scoring. Hence why he would start games with a script and the offense would be alive, only to go dead for 2 quarters. 2014 Romo was the best version of Romo and Dak has been comparable statistically and W’s to that season. Why do we expect Dak to be some type of machine, just cause he’s the Cowboys QB? This guys only gonna get better and he’s already pretty freakin good.

100% degree.

People seem to think because he's the starting QB of the Cowboys he needs to be throwing for 350yrds a game, he needs to have 40tds. When Romo didnt even do that in Linehans offense. But getting over that, Dak is only 3 yrs into his career. I see guys on tv talking about i need to see more. I saw that the other day and greg jennings looked confused and said He leads the NFL in game winning drives since being in the NFL and is 2nd to only Brady in Wins. Then the typical talking head will say but he's not in the top 5 statistically, but do you really expect that with the offense they were running?

For me, im just enjoying watching a young team thats fighting and doesnt allow themselves to lose game. Just seems like they refuse to lose. This is so refreshng to see after years of watching entitled guys make business decisions and throw their weight around keeping younger guys growth down.

The only gripe i have with this team is watching Jourdan Lewis not starting. The guy IMO is better then any cb this team has. He will take chances when Jones and awuzie are more robotic.

And then yet you said, Dak critics conveniently forget that Aikman rarely threw for 250 yards. So if you later acknowledged that differences in the NFL between now and then, why did you make this point?

I will add that it matters where he was drafted in regard to rookie salary and 5th year options. But that's about it.

Wins are the most important stat and the cowboys have 33 with Dak at QB. I know he didn't play as well the second half of 2017 and the first part of 2018 but I think he got better as the year went on. That said I think 2019 will tell us a lot more about Dak and if he's worth the money Jerry is going to give him.
