I don't see a change but Garrett was the one who mentioned it in the off season.
Google search comes up with nothing.atleast be able to offer something to back up your info. Ive done alot of google searches and only thing i have come up with is the dak friendly statement. and it wasnt any of the coaches who said that term. It was Jerry and the media mentioned that everytime they spoke about the offense and dak.

This isnt going to be long but it will be direct and to the point.

I read thread after thread, and post after post about Dak not throwing for 300 yrds. Along with that all the other cliche criticisms posters here want to spew. ANd i wonder if any of you actually have paid attention and know this information or just hate to hate.

In 2014 Scott Linehan was hired

Look at Romo's stats and you will see that they are very similar to what Dak has done with the offense since he's been in the NFL. The only numbers that are really in Romo's favors are TD passes. But we'll look at the number and you will be suprised to see that it was and has been Linehan thats been the issue.

2014 Romo numbers

247yrds a game passing. Isnt that where Daks been avg'n at his whole career?

in 2014 Romo had 7 games of 250 or more yrds and only 1 game over 300. This yr Dak had 6 over 250 and 2 over 300. In 2017 Dak has 5 over 250 and 1 over 300. 2016 he had 5 over 250 and 2 over 300.

2014 Romo was at 69% comp rate, Dak has been 67,62,67% from 2016 -2018

Romo was 8.52avg per attemp, as Dak has been 8, 6.2, 7.4 from 2016-2018

Romo had been a consistent 350yrd passer per game his entire career before 2014. How did he dip 100yrds per game in 1 yr? Maybe the offense? A offense that put more emphasis on run game and the same routes? Oh there the the narrative that Romo was changing the plays and there was more success...Yes he changed some plays and made some great things happen. But the stats dont lie. He was running the same plays and doing the same things Dak has been his entire Career.

WE saw Romo falling to the ground plenty as the blitz would come right up the gut did we not?

Now this thread isnt a rip at Romo because i have said plenty of times, that i think 2014 was Romo best yr of his career because the offense saved him from himself and set a limit on how much of a gunslinger he plaid. Because up to that point in his career the guy was a int machine. This post is just to show some of you that the starting QB has had the limited statline from 2014 to 2018. Even with the hero Romo.

One thing the system did was provide consistent wins because it kept things simple and high percentage plays and had a OL that nobody could beat. But the problem came to being 5 yrs of tape and 5 yrs of the same play scheme with no alteration. No adjustments, no tweaks. If LInehan would've added to a working system he would still be OC and dallas probably would've been to a superbowl in those 5 yrs of running his offense.
he was NEVER and INT machine, ever, on bad year really..Romo has the BEST INT/TD ratio in Cowboys history, blows Aikman's out of the water for the regular season.. Daks so far behind scoring TDs , please stop with the Comps..Romo was pure passer and daks not , I like Dak I hope he continues to grow and succeed, but I am for sure TIRED of pulling TRomos career numbers up to show he never was mistake prone to call him a machine or choker..he had some bad games that people remember with INTS but overall he was not the guy.. Heck Farve and Manning are so far ahead on INTs its insane..sure they threw many more TDs and had MVP years but the amount of INTS those 2 throw would show they are INT machines..

I do agree Linehan and Garett are or were part of the issue and Dak is doing pretty good for 3rd year starter picked in the 4th round..

Romo was undrafted btw:rolleyes:

how many passes per game...again...partial story
again ill ask you, has brady or rodgers ever had an elite RB that his talent would demand pass attempts be taken away? Elliot has had a tone of touches in his first 3 yrs. Like i said take into account what this offense does before you post and try to minimize your own teams qb.

Yup I also think Romo best years was in 2014. They place Romo in a system which help bring out the best in his game and they took the lowdown off Romo. Now it was for Romo to make a play here or there. 3rd and 4 was a lot better then trying to convert 3rd and 14. Add in Romo age and time he did begin to ripe like wine. But at the end of the day it became to little to late. Romo body became brittle and could no longer take the pounding.

If you watched the 2014 the same type of struggles they had to convert 3rd downs with the pass this yr were evident in 2014 aswell. Demarco Murray was the go to guy on 3rd downs. Just like in 2016 Elliot was a beast on 3rd down conversions. The offense no matter who has been QB under Linehan the stats are just similar. The production is alike, and the stuggles are the same. It didnt matter if it was Romo or Dak they both had the same success and struggles in the same situations. Naturally Romo had a little more success because he had 10yrs under his belt. But seeing that Romo was on par with Dak in terms of 250yrd passing games shows that the system was a handicap.

You must have missed the last few games of the season and post season. Romo won those games by passing as all the teams start playing the run with 8-9 man boxes.
Romo and Murray complemented each other like Dak and Elliott did in their first year. But once one side stop being respected by the DC of the other team then the entire formula breaks down.

Just watch the Rams. Once Goeff demonstrates that he cannot function under pressure then the entire run game falls apart as well as DC can concentrate on run.

romo only had 4 yrs without double digit INTs. and in two of them yrs he was at 9. In the other two yrs he threw 7 in both yrs. and in 2015 threw 7 ints in 4 games. in the other 7int yr he threw 7 in 2010 in 6 games.

romo had 117 ints in 10 seasons starting. which is 11.7ints a yr on avg.

People like you are the only ones comparing dak to romo. I have said multiple times what the point of comparing the numbers and it had nothing to do with either of them but with Linehan and his system.

seems like you guys are a little annoyed that i have broken down every comparision you guys try to come up with and shut it down.

Now again ill repeat.

the point of the thread was the highlight Linehan basically running the same gameplan for 5 yrs as a qb. and while it had success with wins, It limited the production from the qb position wether it was romo or dak. But if you guys want to continue to post numbers that arent even accurate ill continue to show you up.

False my response was to this, its so wrong you just contradicted you OP with this latest post

"gunslinger he plaid. Because up to that point in his career the guy was a int machine" really up to 2014 pretty much his entire career, not rue and far from it..I agreed with linehan and Garett has to be part of the offensive issue but the truth will show itself this year..

I want the guy playing qb for the dallas cowboys right now. I dont care if he doesnt throw 300 yrds and 4 tds a game. I dont care that he doesnt play a perfect game. I get irritated with him at time and his play. But on the next drive he can amaze me with the heart he shows and leads the team. The guy is money when the team needs a score late. Im not going to hold him to the romo, Brady Rodgers standard because he's not them. He's dak Prescott. I can see the pros and cons in him, and the pros outweigh the cons.

OL was ranked 31 in pass protection too.whch will also make your qb look ugly

Last point...overlay the cap hit and draft position of those players and you will see one of the worst units in football. A disgrace.

What's the point of you starting a thread and comparing Dak and Romo in this system? I know who the QB is for the Cowboys and I will cheer for him as well.

I don't have a link and very well may of been Jerry but last year I'm pretty sure it was Garrett who was talking about working on the long ball more.

when you have a team with 2 qbs playing the same offense with the same OC and having the same success and struggles to a T you dont see the similarities and what is probably the cause of that? You dont see a system that takes the QB and limits them with the playcalling and the structure of the gameplan?

Then who cares?
I don't have a link, but it very well could have been McClay saying he likes to take a week's vacay on the 1st week of FA.
