Tampa Bay Draft Breakdown:
1(5) Cody Ford T Oklahoma: Bruce Arians believes in Jameis Winston and that he will be the "Famous Jameis" who they drafted in 2015. Has a history coaching him in football camps and with Donovan Smith possibly moving on and outside of Marpet a need to upgrade the entire OL to better protect Jameis who Bruce feels he can groom into the franchise QB he was drafted to be. I am taking Ford who I believe is a bit underrated. Who will protect Winston's blindside and infuse more talent in the OL.

2(39) Trayvon Mullen CB Clemson: One of the best cover corners in the draft which is a desperate need for the Bucs who had the worst secondary in the NFL last year. Giving up tons of big plays on the back end.

3(70) Jaquan Johnson S Miami: the Justin Evans, Chris Conti tandem at Safety isn't cutting so I decided to target a South Florida kid with a nose for the ball to come in and be an upgrade to the safety spot.

4(107) Darrell Henderson RB Memphis: Ronald Jones was a disaster last seeing being a healthy scratch multiple games for a team in need of quality at the Running Back position and when he played he was underwhelming to say the least as the Peyton Barber starting running back experiment isn't working. Henderson is an explosive home run hitter who flashes ability to catch out of the backfield and carry the load. Reminds me of D'Angelo Williams coming out of Memphis and his nose for the end zone and how he finishes runs reminds me of Kareem Hunt at Toledo. So I take a back who could possibly be a mid-round steal for Bruce like David Johnson was.

Miami Dolphins:

1(13) Kyler Murray QB Oklahoma - if he was 2-3 inches taller, would be a consummate top 3 pick. Might go there anyway. Has done nothing but win everywhere he goes. The best runner coming out of the pocket since Vick. Live arm, good accuracy, no reason he can't be Russel Wilson 2.0. The Tannehill era is over.
2(48) Oshane Ximines DE Old Dominion - can't believe he escaped the first as he has first round value. Small school guy who does nothing but gets after the QB. Can pair him across from Cameron Wake and get some needed pressure.
3(78) Erik McCoy C Texas A&M - He was my #3 interior OL in the draft so happy to get him this late. Can plug him inside and hopefully fill a critical need. Ran the fastest 40, not that it means much, but his athletcism will really help an OL unit that needs some tooling.
4(116) Chris Slayton DT Syracuse - good developmental prospect with tons of experience. Not flashy, but a great one on one player. The East-West Shrine game isn't quite the event that the Senior Bowl is, but looked to be the best guy on the field.

this draft is really boom or bust. If Murray is the real deal, you knocked it out of the park on that pick alone.
I like Ximenes, but he is a project. Better value pick in the 3rd or 4th round.
McCoy decent player but i am not crazy about the oline prospects in this class. Miami needs line help though.
I agree on Slayton. Has an upside. Needs coaching up to get there.

I see a lot of people are liking many of the drafts I also graded well.
One not mentioned that I had graded highly is the Giants'.
Real solid top to bottom, and I thought Rapp was a bit of steal at 57.

I think you have to be when you're someone like the Phins. Worst place you can be in the NFL is in the middle - not bad enough to get top picks and not good enough to make any waves. Having someone like Murray can transform your offense alone.

Should be noted that WR was also considered, but really don't feel the position is very deep this year and there's not much of a talent gap separating the mid-rounds. I really considered pulling the trigger on Josh Oliver in the 4th, but the Phins blew a second rounder on Mike Gesicki last year and realistically can't see them spending another high pick on one.

I'd be all over Murray with the 13th pick. Don't see any way that he's there that late. And seeing that the 13th pick is less than half the value of the 1st overall pick, I don't even see much risk.
If you miss, you took your swing and the cost wasn't devastating.
The Ximines pick was a reach, imo. Put we're all entitled to our favorites

Oakland Raiders (Floatyworm)
1(4) Rashan Gary DE Michigan
1(24) Josh Jacobs RB Alabama
1(27) Nasir Adderley S Delaware
2(44) Joejuan Williams CB Vanderbilt
3(66) Amani Hooker S Iowa
4(110) Mecole Hardman WR Georgia
4(114) Emanuel Hall WR Missouri
4(118) Elijah Holyfield RB Georgia
4(127) Keelan Doss WR California-Davis
4(138) Malik Fountain ILB Central Michigan

Well...to start off just like very year I have no clue what I'm doing. I wing it because of the pressure Risen puts on my every year just to participate. With that being said...;)

My draft plan got shot all to hell 3 weeks ago....when I thought I had the right plan. Jeffery Simmons was my top target...only to see him tear up his ACL.

Then it occured to me that maybe this could work out in my favor....that I could nab him later since I got multiple #1's..and redshirt him.

Didn't think anyone would burn a #1 pick on a guy that had a messed up knee.....Boy was I wrong. Never underestimate the stupidity of a millennial.

So here I was....1/4...took the BPA left in my opionion. Rashan Gary DE Michigan. Not the pass rusher of Mack...but considering Oakland had no one to play the LDE spot....he seemed like the logical guy to lock down the left side.

I did try to trade up w/ the Cards...but Chris' asking price was just too much...

In todays NFL...if your running a 4-3 defense..it takes 8 guys. So IMO Rashan Gary was just a player the Raiders needed to add...to have stability along their D.

So...the original plan was Simmons @ 1/24...then a funny thing happened. Josh Jacobs RB Alabama started to slip. I had a #1 grade on him. And I thought he was a real possibility for Tampa @ #1/5.
Figuring he could do for Tampa...what Zeke did for us....and Tampa passed. Thought for sure the Ravens would take him...and they passed.
And when that happened...I thought I was gonna strike it rich w/ Josh Jacobs @ 1/24...and Jeff Simmons @ 1/27.

I mean...only 2 picks until I land Simmons @ 1/27....what could possibly go wrong???

Well...he sweeps in and blows up my glorious plan.

Regardless...Come to find out later...he wasn't the only guy to have that devious plan...of redshirting Simmons.

Anyway...

I still feel pretty good that I got the top RB in the draft...and then proceeded to work on fixing the defense.

My original plan was to select Nasir Adderley S Delaware w/ the 2/36 pick...but I got a funny feeling he wasn't gonna make it to that pick...so I got my guy @ 1/27. Overpaid a little for a draft deep w/ FS....but I got my guy. And later I learned that my suspicions were correct. He wouldn't have got passed the Packers 1/30 pick.

I almost took Mack Wilson ILB Alabama w/ pick 1/27....but like I said...my draft plans got blown up.

W/ the 2/36 pick...I got approached w/ a trade...picking up 2 4ths to move down 8 spots. Knowing the Raiders need everything...I thought I was getting good value...and the picks would pay off later.

@ 2/44 I took Joejuan Williams CB Vanderbilt... I think the Raiders went through half a dozens CBs opposite of Conley last year. He really impressed my w/ his sticky coverage when I watched him vs Ole Miss's trio of AJ Brown, Metcalf, and Lodge. He's a bigger CB that I think the Raiders are gonna go after now.

@ 3/66.Amani Hooker S Iowa. Felt really fortunate to land him here. I got an early 2nd round grade on him going into the draft. I was hoping to land Oshane Ximines DE Old Dominion w/ this pick...but he went way earlier than I expected.

In the 4th round I was able to trade down from 4/106 and secure 2 more 4th round picks to give me 5 4th rounds :omg:

Then I went to work...And just like I did w/ the Raiders safety position....I selected multiple WRs since the Raiders basically have Jordy Nelson ...and no much afterward. Mecole Hardman WR Georgia, Emanuel Hall WR Missouri, Keelan Doss WR California-Davis...I think all have a good shot of making an NFL roster and contributng in their first year.

@
4/118...I just couldn't pass on my #3 rated RB...Elijah Holyfield RB Georgia. I had no intentions of double dipping @ RB...but I just thought the value was too good to pass up.

W/ my final pick I took a real sleeper MLBer..Malik Fountain ILB Central Michigan.

I've looked all around the internet on more info on this kid...not to find much. He was the nations 3rd leading tackler...and his highlight real..all you see is this guy just makes bone crunching tackle for loss after loss.

In all honestly...this wasn't the draft I envisioned I would come away with...Nevertheless...I still think I got good value w/ all my picks. Time will tell if I came away w/ nothing...or I was ahead of the curve. But I like my chances. ;)

Dallas Cowboys

2(58) Jace Sternberger TE Texas A&M
In light of our soon-to-be 38 year old, ego maniac coming back for another year to take this team hostage, the selection of Sternberger looks ill-fitting. That said, I didn't like the way the board was falling ahead of me; I had Jerry Tillery, Dalton Risner, and Garrett Bradbury (insurance for Frederick or could be flipped to OG) before Sternberger but all plucked ahead of the pick. I said at the time that the Sternberger selection was made under the presumption that Kellen Moore would be more creative in figuring out ways to take advantage of 2-TE sets (the way the Eagles do with Ertz and Goedert). I honestly see Sternberger and Jarwin as similar players so I wasn't in love with this pick because it seemed a bit redundant.

3(90) Khalen Saunders DT Western Illinois
I was set to take one of two players at pick #90 in DE Joe Jackson or WR Andy Isabella. We are woefully thin at DE and this was before the news of Gregory's suspension. After Jackson was taken at #84 I set my sights on Isabella to take over duties from Beasley in the slot, which I consider a starting role. I tried trading up to ensure I nabbed him but offers fell through and he was taken at #85. As such, I ended up taking Saunders buying on his upside to develop into a 3-tech that could at the very least be rotated in and provide some pressure from the inside.

4(128) Renell Wren DT Arizona St.
Risen ended up making this pick. I wasn't as enamored with Wren as others were heading into the draft, but at pick #128 I have no qualms about the selection. He could be developed into Chris Canty v.2.

4(136) Ryan Finley QB North Carolina St
.
I was hoping that a slot (Penny Hart) was still available in the 4th round but I wasn't enamored with what was left. I considered Hawaii WR John Ursua but thought it may be a bit too rich. So, I looked for value and was a little surprised QB Ryan Finley was still on the board. I've always liked Finley as he throws a nice ball, sound delivery, and amazingly has 46 games worth of experience in college. I'm not really high on Mike White and I'm not holding my breath on Cooper Rush. I think competition is healthy and Finley could develop into a reliable backup/fringe starter type ala Frank Reich.
