I wish for Patriots Way for our FA

Same fans that loved bumdrick, barry church, terrance williams, brandon carr, I call them the JAG lovers.

I call them "starry-eyed". Any guy wearing a star is automatically much, much better than he truly is, and as soon as he's not? He gets worse, much, much worse.

I look forward to the direct correlation research that shows losing chandler caused them to win.

They released cooper who they got in return and Malcom Mitchell Is no longer a pat.

Just because bill decided not to pay him doesn’t make him not worth the money.
No problem.

W/ the money they saved on Chandler, the Pats were able to sign several FA's who had a major impact. McCourty, David Andrews, Danny Shelton, Ladrian Waddle, Luke Bowanko, Kyle Van Noy. These sort of signings led to them having the depth
at both OL and DL so they were fresh in the 4th. It's not one player in particular, it's the many guys they sign that contribute. This is due to not paying huge salaries.

W/o the extreme protection provided Brady during the playoffs, the Pats don't even win the super bowl.

And since they don't overpay, they're able to pick up guys like Jeremy Hill just in case Michel got hurt or sucked.

While the Patriots organizational process is on full display, no one really has the blueprint. The players you name are kind of guys the Patriots will pick off the scrap heap and pay Vet minimum with some escalators in exchange for a shot at a Lombardi.

The Patriots would likely have traded or just let players like DLaw, Zeke, Zach Martin walk. They may not have three first rounders on second contracts on the roster let alone on one unit.

Their talent evaluation process in so far beyond anything the rest of the NFL is capable of doing.
Not only that, a player who was key to their super bowl win in 16, Blount, wanted more money so they let him walk. He was then key in Philly's super bowl run in 17. Neither team was the same w/o him, until NE replaced that short yardage guy w/ Michel in the 1st round of the draft.

RB's are ultra important to NE, but NE is also ultra aware that you simply cannot overpay any position. Not sure how they feel about QB, and what they would've done if Brady had insisted on a maxed out contract.

And you need some JAG's sprinkled around on your team, but you simply cannot afford to overpay them.

We do because we don't have GM who can accurately assess talent. Marion Barber, Doug Free(before he took a pay cut), Spencer, there's some more overpaid JAG's for you.

Brady certainly helped them out tremendously by walking the walk on the team first mantra. The Patriots do covet certain positions (RBs and CBs of late), but they are able to shift focus on what's important to their scheme and resist paying retail for players.

We have seen an amazing collaboration in NE between QB and HC that I don't expect to see again in my lifetime.

That extra 3.1m helped pay for Romo 4 years ago

The only question is if TCrawford is worth 7m and the answer is an emphatic YES
I dont care why it's there. Fact is that is how much he is costing the team for the 2019 season

"Only $6.5 million?" That's insane for the backup player Sean Lee is now. This mindset is exactly the problem.

What if Sean Lee did? And who's more prone to being injured? No, he needs to take a paycut now or get cut and find work elsewhere.

$3.5 million for a role player who plays 25 snaps a game is overpaying. It's more of that same mindset that is the problem.

No, I think Stephen and Jerry are far too worried about "not looking like jerks", so they're afraid of making tough decisions.

That's the point. And the problem.
You and I can agree to disagree on the moves so far. So far I like the moves they are making this offseason (other than not firing Garrett).

No blind loyalty to aging or injured players. Just what can you do for me now and in short term future... Bellichick would never keep Sean Lee at $7m, Allen Hurns at $6m, Beasley at anything more than $6m. Like he did with Gilmore, he would pay for a defensive star in his prime (D Law, ET). But save money where you can. I hope that if Lee and Hurns remain on this team, they are significantly restructured.

Well, IMO you need to ask for the Jets Way, Bills Way, and Dolphins Way too then.

You'd be surprised with the success the Cowboys might have if their divisional foes went so far out of their way to suck every year it's comical.

Everyone mad and hating on the Pats for taking advantage of their opportunities and claiming organizational superiority (which I admit is warranted) in NE fails to point at the three NFL dogs in their division who don't have a clue or a remote plan on how to counter a team they each play 2x a year.

Look at it this way: what happens here in Dallas if the Eagles win 5 Super Bowls to our 0 in the same timeframe as the Pats run? Or your a Skins, Giants or Eagles Fan and Dallas reels off 5 before another for yourself? Dangerous situations. But in that division- they obviously don't care. They can't. These teams do nothing to dent the Patriots playoff chances and then NE goes into the playoffs ready to roll and with home games in tow to start the SB journey.

It's a joke.

Throw in HC incompetence in Seattle and Atlanta, and everyone forgets the GOAT Tom Brady lost to Eli Manning 2x AND Nick Foles in the SB.

Look the Pats are a great team and on an all-time run. But anyone that's going to tell me that Brady is the GOAT, and any particular Pats SB team was the GOAT I'm going to have to disagree with.

They are very good, very opportunistic, and the league is very mediocre. They exploited this. End of story.

It is there whether he is or not so it foolish to attach it him

The only number that matters is the 7m base and that is a bargain compared to other SDE/3T/1T/LDEs

We have blind loyalty to a bunch of drug abusers. We are years away from accountability and production.

Its so true what you say here. And Jerry has proven time and time again that he is loyal to a fault based off past production and not on the current or future performance red flags the player is showing.

What I fear is "Second Contract and Beyond Syndrome"...

This is that condition a player gets once he signs that second contract and he has millions guaranteed and it just seems to take away the hunger that existed in said player before signing him to that contract and he seems to just coast along thereafter never regaining his once dominant performance level.

As a GM, I probably wouldnt be the biggest risk taker on a guy who blew up in his contract year either. I would need more sustained superior consistency for the past duration of his first contract. That's just me though. It's why the GMs make the big bucks to make those types of decisions. And I guess the franchise tag kinda provides the safety net 'prove it' scenario that kinda protects you in a sense. Similar to how Lawrence was tagged last year and showed a 2 consecutive year level of very good production.

Sure hope all these pending Cowboy Second contracts net the same hungry players and their performance levels prior to signing.
And not yield the lazy satisfied with status quo, I've got mine now I'm gonna coast mentality. That's my biggest fear.

I'll agree with you on the SB team part but that kinda contradicts the QB part. In that Brady does more with less. Sure he has had his share of the Moss's and Gronks of the world with the expected high levels of success by playing with HOF level talent such as those guys. He was even given a pretty solid top tier RB at the time, in Cory Dillon for a year or 2 with success.

But ain't nobody reeling off multiple rings with the likes of Troy Brown, Kevin Faulk and the newest flavor of the month who Brady turned into a star himself and people are claiming hes a HOF guy all of a sudden, Edelman? What is he without Brady again? And the RB kid who had like 15 catches against Atlanta in the Bowl? Smith was it? Or was that in the Seattle Bowl, I may be wrong. BUT Who is he anyway?
Sorry bro, GOAT it is and it really ain't close if you apply the more with less principle as Ive tried to explain here. Just my opinion though. Just the opposite of the Cowboys QB who manages to do less with more.
