I wish for Patriots Way for our FA

So Dallas is like the other 30 teams in the league. The thing that NE has that Dallas or every other team in the NFL does not have is Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Getting rid of Lee, Hurns, and Beasley are not going to make Dallas automatically Superbowl contenders, Comparing Dallas to NE is not a good example because Belichick is going to out coach the clapper 100 times out of 100.

It's not about the coaching in this case. And that point was made from the beginning.

This is about being overly loyal to underperforming player who don't help the team win games.

I hope that clears things up for you.

I don't see where it hurts to keep Lee right now. We only save $6.5 million in cap space by cutting him. We currently have lots of CAP space. We could still cut him prior to the first game of the season and save the CAP money. There is no rush to do anything with him at this point. What if LVE or Jaylon got hurt in the offseason programs or training camp? Witten is currently a pretty cheap insurance policy at TE. Would we like to be younger there? I am sure Dallas would. However, the TEs we have on the roster are inconsistent and unreliable. I hear people wanting Tyler Eifert but the guy has missed more games than he has played. At TE. we should let the often injured Swaim walk and cut Gathers. Keep Schultz, Jarwin, and Witten. Then we should look to find a TE in the draft. We could have Witten mentor him for a year and then basically say goodbye to Witten next year unless our NEW HC wanted Witten to be part of the coaching staff. I basically don't see much out there in free agency at TE.

As far as Hurns goes, it does not hurt to say he is going to be part of the roster at this point. He still has to get well and compete for a job. There are NO guarantees he will be on the 53 man roster. Saying that you are supporting him is just simply a good PR move at this point. Do you really think Steven and Jerry want to look like a jerk for cutting a guy that just got injured in a playoff game, Give him a chance to get healthy and compete for a job. If he wins the job then great, if he doesn't then just move on and cut him.

Every dollar you pay Sean Lee is a dollar you cannot pay D Law, ET, Zeke, Dak. The NFL is a zero sum, prove it every year game.

It's worked out pretty well for them...

I look forward to the direct correlation research that shows losing chandler caused them to win.

They released cooper who they got in return and Malcom Mitchell Is no longer a pat.

Just because bill decided not to pay him doesn’t make him not worth the money.

No blind loyalty to aging or injured players. Just what can you do for me now and in short term future... Bellichick would never keep Sean Lee at $7m, Allen Hurns at $6m, Beasley at anything more than $6m. Like he did with Gilmore, he would pay for a defensive star in his prime (D Law, ET). But save money where you can. I hope that if Lee and Hurns remain on this team, they are significantly restructured.
While the Patriots organizational process is on full display, no one really has the blueprint. The players you name are kind of guys the Patriots will pick off the scrap heap and pay Vet minimum with some escalators in exchange for a shot at a Lombardi.

The Patriots would likely have traded or just let players like DLaw, Zeke, Zach Martin walk. They may not have three first rounders on second contracts on the roster let alone on one unit.

Their talent evaluation process in so far beyond anything the rest of the NFL is capable of doing.

I like Dak, but just being honest here...I don't think Bill would keep him either.

Btw, we don't know that we are keeping these players at these rates. maybe they take a cut.

If we end up needing the money then we have until the first regular season game to let him go. His salary is not guaranteed unless he is on the roster after the first game. There is no reason to rush at this point. Our goal is to have the best 53 players on the roster by game 1. If you get rid of him now and then suffer an injury with LVE or Jaylon Smith then you have created another hole. Remember, our other starting LBer, Damien Wilson, is a free agent and Joe Thomas, March-Lillard, and Covington didn't set the world on fire last year. If LVE and Smith are healthy going into the season and we have found a starting replacement for Damien Wilson then I will agree with you if Lee is still on the roster. We definitely should not be carrying a part time player at a $10 million cap hit. At this point I am willing to let at play out.

He also traded away chandler jones who happened to accumulate 41 sacks the last three seasons since the trade.
Because Chandler was about to kill himself drugging it up like his brother Jonny "cokehead" Jones. He was traded to Arizona because they have the best rehab facility in the country.

"Only $6.5 million?" That's insane for the backup player Sean Lee is now. This mindset is exactly the problem.

What if Sean Lee did? And who's more prone to being injured? No, he needs to take a paycut now or get cut and find work elsewhere.

Witten is currently a pretty cheap insurance policy at TE. Would we like to be younger there? I am sure Dallas would. However, the TEs we have on the roster are inconsistent and unreliable. $3.5 million for a role player who plays 25 snaps a game is overpaying. It's more of that same mindset that is the problem.

No, I think Stephen and Jerry are far too worried about "not looking like jerks", so they're afraid of making tough decisions.

That's the point. And the problem.

It will happen as soon as you show where it hurt them.

Because the Patriots still won and appeared in multiple championships means the move didn't hurt them in any way.

They really haven't shown blind loyalty in the past several years.

They cut Ware, Romo and Dez.

Hurns - Zero chance he makes the 6.25M in 2019 with the Cowboys.

Lee - They likely offer him an incentive based new contract that would only pay the 7M if he played 80% or more of the snaps.

Witten - They didn't give him any guarantees in the 1-year, 3.5M contract. He might end up re-retiring after training camp to avoid being cut.

Beasley - It seems fairly obvious that he won't return unless it's for a very team friendly deal. Beasley will be 30 before the season starts. They Cowboys mode of operation the past several years has been to avoid paying age. They might make an exception on age for Earl Thomas if he agrees to a reasonable contract but they don't view Beasley as a star player like ET. Having said that, 6M per for Beasley is not terrible for the team considering the extreme cost of free agent WRs (Sammy Watkins in 2018 at 18M per).

Bill also has the unique situation where they have the best QB ever who’s made more than 19 mil only twice and other than that usually plays for 15/per.

Yup, and we'll pay Dak 30 mil for exactly one playoff win. Then invest in Witten, Lee and maybe even bring Ware back to basically 'Mentor' the newbies. Isn't that what our so-called coaches are supposed to do?

Bryant, Claiborne, Hitchens, Church, Wilcox, Carr, Murray, Ware, Hatcher, Austin, Spencer, etc., etc., etc.

Last year his cap hit was 22M. This upcoming year it will be 27M. Less than what he could make but not exactly from the bargain bin.

Lmao he smoked k2. Not heroin

Jerry so wants to be loved like a Father

But it is still just a business

Cut AHurns..... let him test FA
Invite SLee to Training Camp at 3m salary..... he can earn a job if he can
Beasley is gone.... he wants too much....sign TAustin to 2-3m deal
Tag DLaw if he won't take 5/90m
Offer EThomas an incentive laden deal...no free rides like Dan Snyder
Don't resign JWitten......ooops too late

Oh, and this will be the year that Sean Lee finally stays healthy! We really, really promise this year guys! This year for sure!

A day Allen Hurns is gonna come back better than ever off of that broken ankle and catch even more than those 20 passes in 2018!

And Tyrone Crawford might even get us a career high 6 sacks for that $9 million we're paying him!

Tyrone crawford counts for 10.1 against the cap this year, yikes!
