I wish for Patriots Way for our FA

No blind loyalty to aging or injured players. Just what can you do for me now and in short term future... Bellichick would never keep Sean Lee at $7m,

I doubt we do either.

There are enough stupid things we actually do. We don't need to get upset about ones we *might* do but haven't yet.

I'll agree with you on the SB team part but that kinda contradicts the QB part. In that Brady does more with less. Sure he has had his share of the Moss's and Gronks of the world with the expected high levels of success by playing with HOF level talent such as those guys. He was even given a pretty solid top tier RB at the time, in Cory Dillon for a year or 2 with success.

But ain't nobody reeling off multiple rings with the likes of Troy Brown, Kevin Faulk and the newest flavor of the month who Brady turned into a star himself and people are claiming hes a HOF guy all of a sudden, Edelman? What is he without Brady again? And the RB kid who had like 15 catches against Atlanta in the Bowl? Smith was it? Or was that in the Seattle Bowl, I may be wrong. BUT Who is he anyway?
Sorry bro, GOAT it is and it really ain't close if you apply the more with less principle as Ive tried to explain here. Just my opinion though. Just the opposite of the Cowboys QB who manages to do less with more.
The first 3 rings were primarily due to a great D. Yes, others could've won w/ those guys w/ the D the Pats had.

I don't see where it hurts to keep Lee right now. We only save $6.5 million in cap space by cutting him. We currently have lots of CAP space. We could still cut him prior to the first game of the season and save the CAP money. There is no rush to do anything with him at this point. What if LVE or Jaylon got hurt in the offseason programs or training camp? Witten is currently a pretty cheap insurance policy at TE. Would we like to be younger there? I am sure Dallas would. However, the TEs we have on the roster are inconsistent and unreliable. I hear people wanting Tyler Eifert but the guy has missed more games than he has played. At TE. we should let the often injured Swaim walk and cut Gathers. Keep Schultz, Jarwin, and Witten. Then we should look to find a TE in the draft. We could have Witten mentor him for a year and then basically say goodbye to Witten next year unless our NEW HC wanted Witten to be part of the coaching staff. I basically don't see much out there in free agency at TE.

As far as Hurns goes, it does not hurt to say he is going to be part of the roster at this point. He still has to get well and compete for a job. There are NO guarantees he will be on the 53 man roster. Saying that you are supporting him is just simply a good PR move at this point. Do you really think Steven and Jerry want to look like a jerk for cutting a guy that just got injured in a playoff game, Give him a chance to get healthy and compete for a job. If he wins the job then great, if he doesn't then just move on and cut him.

Hurns has a significant roster bonus coming up this month. They will need to decide prior to that time if he is sticking around.

With him being injured, wouldn't they have to keep him or reach an injury settlement?

Yeah, guess I'll just hafta agree to disagree there bro. I know that the Pats 1st 3 SB trophy defenses had very talented players. But if I remember correctly they were all also decided by Viniatieri kicks that required some late game heroics to get into field goal position.
Montana had Rice, Taylor, Dwight Clark and Roger Craig.
I do not think Montana or any other QB could accomplish the same things as Brady with the likes of Troy Brown, David Givens and Kevin Faulk. If you do, it's just a difference of opinion. No worries. Go Cowboys.

The Patriots have had a great combination of good defenses with greatest defensive guru in the league and probably the most clutch QB in NFL history.

If you took away any of the components it’s unlikely they’d have gone to 9 Super Bowls winning 6.

Pats did have a couple seasons where defense wasn’t as great but Brady still led them to Super Bowl in defeat.

No

He has no guarantees....in fact his 2019 contract is a Team Option.... DAL has until March 12th to activate the option for 4m with 1.25m in Roster Bonuses

If they do nothing he simply stays an UFA that can sign with anyone

Only players that are injured during the current League Year require Injury Settlements

Agreed. Also in my opinion, their last couple of Trophy winning defenses did not match the talent level personnel wise of their earler SB winning defenses. They have always been near the tops in limiting scoring tho no matter what.

Just further supports your coaching comment.

And yes, Brady is the X factor who has proven he can win rings with just about whomever you line up with him at the skill positions along with a yearly no name o-line, who coach Scarnecchia (sp?) should be touted annually as that team's unsung hero.

Yep and why I have adopted a saying I saw this year. “ Brady and the 2nd stringers”. Lol
