Why does PHI sign their own FAs easy, and we can’t

It eases uncertainty for them in free agency because at this point they won’t have to worry about being involved in it.

With 15 starts at three positions over three seasons, Eagles offensive lineman Isaac Seumalo didn’t have a ton of leverage.

It showed when the big guy agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension instead of playing out the final year of his rookie contract for a shade under $940,000.

It doesn't sound like he got a lot of dough, making it easier to finalize a deal.

It amazes me how not too long ago we were in salary cap hell because of overspending in FA. Our new approach, building through the draft and resigning our own deserving players, is so much better than FA. And yet, once again, everybody wants to complain about something.

Dallas resigns players they want to keep before hitting FA all the time.

Frederick, Martin, Tyron Smith, la’el Collins, Jeff Heath, Tony Romo back in the day, Jason Witten, Sean Lee etc, the list goes on.

Re-signing a guy like Demarcus Lawrence is a much different animal than re-signing an old Brandon Graham and re-signing a guy who makes less than a million a year.

Demarcus Lawrence was literally going to be the #1 FA in the market this off season. His contract is far more complicated to get done.

Timing really doesn't matter they have always signed the guys they wanted

DWare, Ratliff, RW11, MBIII, MSpears, MAustin, DFree, SLee, Church, Witten, OScan, TCrawford, Dez, Tron, TFred, ZMartin, Beasley, Heath, Bailey, CJones

Carr, MClaiborne, Church, CCanty, DMurray, DHarris, JHatcher, Parnell, MBennett, Cooper, Leary, Hitchens, BCarter were pretty much allowed to test FA for the Comp Picks

37m over two seasons is BIG TIME money and he is still a FA in 2020

The piggyback on @DakPresgoat post, its not our way to let players we want to keep get this far in the process. We usually sign them with a year or even two remaining on their rookie deal. With Lawrence we wanted him to validate his 2017 season before making that commitment

My guess with Beasley is they don't want as much as they let in publicly. At least not for what he is asking. They probably feel he can be replaced by cheaper talent
