I have smoked a lot of pot in my younger days and never felt and medicinal properties from smoking it. It just made me goofy and in a good mood. I remember being high at work on a milling machine sending a 1" dia milling cutter flying into the wall. Pot hindered my soccer playing and it wasn't until I cut down immensely that I could play a good game without sucking wind and having that burning feeling in the lungs.

IMO, Pot is totally recreational and only alters the mind to a point the mind is distracted from pain and you become so goofy you don't have bad thoughts.

I have no idea why he needed xanax bars and I also wish him luck getting of xanax as I used xanax .25mg 2x/day (minor amounts) after surgery and it was hell when I was ready to stop taking it. The withdrawal symptoms lasted almost a year.

IMO, he just wants to party get high and not be drawn in to a serious profession at his age. If he needs xanax bars, his problems are quite deep and will have a hell of a time quitting Benzodiazepines.

But a funny story: We were painting condos on 10 ft ladders while high in the summer. My boss was explaining what to do if the ladder slips and you fall with the ladder. Just as he's done explaining, his ladder went sideways and he took a good 10ft tumble into the bushes and gave us great real life demonstration and we cheered and applauded him.

I think the dude is just an addicted druggie. He probably has no medical need for the Xanax or the pot, he just likes being stoned out of his mind more than he likes playing football. Ricky Williams was the same way. He loved his pot so much he would probably consider selling his children into a sex slavery ring for an ounce.

And when one is addicted to something the irrational mind takes over the rational mind and one then does some desperate and stupid things. I just watched the video on youtube and it sounded like all stoned man making excuses.

But if he can truly enjoy himself and make ends meet, all power to him. I'm sure he will grow up to be a responsible father and I hope his child doesn't suffer cause of him.

Ha, I’m watching Maria Bartiromo Fox Business and who pops up? David Irving with a big old chit eating grin on his face from smoking a doobie. They talk a little that he has made the choice to give up football to smoke weed.

Jack Brewer was on the set as well, he’s a former safety for a few teams. Anyway big businessman today and founded the Brewer Group. He said I’m from Texas and please someone in Texas give that man my contact information, I need to talk to him. Said he knows exactly what Irving is going through and hates to see him throw away his career after putting in so many years of work. He’s made the Bigtime!

Does he realize if he truly feels the pot ban is wrong, he could make more impact by staying in the league and playing than by leaving the league as a protest? His platform, if it exists, for changing things is far more impactful as a player than an outsider, even one who used to play in the NFL?

Totally stupid move...

similar but not the same RW was diagnosed with severe social anxiety, yes an actual diagnosis, DI has no medical diagnosis or doctors saying he should be able to be prescribed this for actual deep medical issue..

RW was one of the best College players of all time, a team gave up their draft for him and he tried hard in the nfl and had success, wasted his chance at the HOF in the NFL but DI and RW may both like weed but thats where the similarity's stop.. DI was a player with upside taking off the practice squad and never met his potential.. RW played very well when he played and stayed on the field a lot longer and put up solid numbers..

please dont compare them its a slight to poor RW..

ANNND this is why you never post a thread in the fashion of" your a fool if....." who DIDN'T see this coming? It's just pandering and enabling when you continue to keep a loser on your team, who year after year continues to be who he is, in Irvings case a pot head. Yea we got so much "value" from him holding a roster spot, and never looking to upgrade over his sorry butt. But hey, it's his choice, go burn up those millions there David and stay high bro, stay high. We can only hope THIS and the multitude of David Irving's and Gregory types will teach the FO, you simply can't fix stupid, and you can't coddle some players into "giving" a crap about the team, football their mates, whatever.
