I am not American and maybe that gives me a culturally different outlook (maybe). You ask 'is he supposed to take an amount that is less than is being offered?' but the OP says he is asking for it, not being offered it. That is a crucial difference. By posting this, I have become a liar but I feel I needed to respond to you out of common courtesy. Again, I don't wish to make any enemies, just my opinion.
As I said earlier, you seem to be a good dude. We obviously have different takes on the subject but you kept it civil and we were able to debate it. It is not often today that people can disagree and actually not have it escalate to an all out war, Bravo! Curious as to what country you are from, but I can can understand if you prefer not to say. Thx for the response...

I have no doubt that Tony is a hot commodity as a CBS broadcaster and that their execs know this as well. He's the best TV sports broadcaster going right now, with the type of a magnetic personality that draws fans from near and wide. He's well worth the $10 million smackers that could likely come his way. I'm certain any of the other networks would be more than pleased to have him as well. When it comes to football play by play, he's as good as it gets.

I’m very emotional during gamea, so much so I prefer to watch them by myself so the people around me to incur my wrath but I don’t giggle, I don’t over exaggerate the most basic situations and I don’t ooooo and ahhhh on every other play.

I get he is popular and a lot of people like him. I’m sorry the fact that he annoys the hell out of me and a few others personally bothers you and the other Romoholics.

67% comes from the Wall Street Journal, is that acceptable to you?

Oh ya EVERY football fan first and foremost relies on the Wall Street Journal for football info. Also so if every fan doesn't sit quietly except when you feel something worthy of making any sounds, make that permitted sounds, then all others must be girls or kids? Get over yourself, you're not that important and you're certainly not the model of what and how a fan watches games.

10 million a year?

Man I’d be so fat I’d have to walk in the booth sideways and take a breath after every word I say

Not to mention he has already earned well over 100 million from JJ. I don’t know how he does it.

Romo is playing in his 2nd PGA event this weekend.

The event is on a fairly challenging course, so uh, go luck
Odds of him winning are...10,000 to 1.
The bigger bet is can he break 80 in the 1st round. Over/under is 79.5.

Wait til he starts working golf broadcasts. $$$

Romo: You want to see this Birdie by Jason Day from a golfer's perspective? Watch this! He lines up and watch his stance and swing! Look at the eyes and stance by Speith. He's looking at the ball, but then he quickly moves his head to the direction of the hole for the ball to go into the hole. That, you will not see again!

Other person on the call: Excellent call, Tony! That was a beautiful birdie by Day.

No. Just disappointed. I loved Tony Romo as a Cowboy and rate him as a commentator. It is sad that he apparently doesn't know life has been very good to him and he is in a very privileged position. If 4 million wasn't enough this year, will 10 million really be enough for him next year? How much money is enough money Tony?

That's a terrible argument. Every player wants more money, not just Romo. Even outside of sports there are people that make really great money and the next year at review time they could be looking for a raise. You may be happy with what you make but that's not a reasonable argument for other wanting more. So players who have already made 10's of millions of dollars on one contract are wrong for wanting more on the next contract ?

Lol, yeah, the WSJ isn’t credible because it’s not a sports oriented news source? Are you kidding me? Most media outlets suck but the WSJ is one of the, if not the, most credible paper in the U.S. But yeah, you’re right, their studies on sports must suck because that’s not all they talk about. IMOF they suck so bad that several other sports magazines and newspapers have referenced that specific study. Stick to ESPN for all your credible sports information

Did I ever say people can’t make sounds? I yell, use profanity, occasionally throw something, etc. Did I ever say I was important? Nope. Did I ever say I was the model fan? Nope, not that either. Do you have any other awesome fictional accusations or inaccurate observations you would like to tell me about myself? This is just getting good.

It’s hilarious how butt hurt people like you get over criticism of Romo. I acknowledged that he is highly popular in the booth, brings good insight to the game but has certain tendencies that annoy me such as his giggling, ooooing, ahhhing, straining his voice for 10 seconds over a meaningless measurement, trying too hard to make the most basic plays seem interesting, etc but people like you are so infatuated with him that you would think I’m criticizing your girlfriend or wife, not some millionaire QB failure dbag sitting in a booth commenting on a game.

IMO, Tony is extremely annoying in the booth. Sorry you can’t handle someone else’s opinion that isn’t in agreement with your own. Maybe you should take your own advice and get over YOURSELF.

What makes you think he was arguing? Like me, he gave his own opinion based on his values, not yours. You seem to really struggle with others opinions, you do realize that not everyone is always going to see things the same as you, right? That seems to be a major problem for you.

Waaaaaaaaaaa

That's funny. Because that's exactly what all of you sound like... lol.
Now stick your binkys in back in your mouths.

Hey listen, if you hate Romo because of a fumbled snap or because he threw
five interceptions in a game, that's fine. There was a t-shirt that said "Romo makes me drink".
I understand that. However, hating the man for wanting to get paid while he's at the
height of his new profession is pure jealousy. Get out of the man's pocket.

I’ll go ahead and assume you’re not like some of the other people in this thread (who I won’t call out) that fully support Tony asking for more money because “everyone does it” yet are criticizing Dlaw for wanting more money as well. Hypocrisy has always run rampant with Cowboys fans and this is another fine example.

Why is jealousy always the reason why someone may not like someone else who has more money then them?

There’s a few of you who always accuse others of that, it’s ridiculous. Tony already has more money than I could ever dream of, is another 6 million per year what really put me over the top as far as jealousy? Why do I love players like Witten, Jaylon, and Sean Lee who all make more money than I do? According to your theory, shouldn’t I be jealous of them too? What about the musicians I admire? How is it even possible for me to admire them when I pay their increased ticket prices to see them play because I’m so jealous?

Then enlighten me. What's your problem with Romo asking to get paid?

From your posts, I understand your disgust of Romo runs deeper than just about money.
But for someone to say he's making too much, I just can't see that as anything other
than jealousy.

The Lawrence comparison is different because it affects how the cap is used for the whole team.
However, I see no problem with the man wanting to be paid what he thinks he deserves.

I have a Romo cookie cutter form if you need it.
I never said I hated Romo. Ever.

Guess I am on the outside here as I have never watched a game because of the color guy. Either I am interested in the game or I am not, that guy has 0 to do with it. If I am on the fence, the guy doing it can help make my choice for me as Witten did when I decided to forego MNF unless it was a game of interest.

And I am in the minority but his style of doing games, talking too low and under his breath because Nantz is boring as they come and then trying to call the plays ahead of the snap does not add anything to the game for me. But I realize that's just me and some think that's entertaining.

If they up him by 250%, that gonna bring in more viewers? Since the #1 teams for CBS and FOX usually do the game of the week and are unopposed on the competing network, why would any net pay him that amount? He's got a contract and can't go to another net so why would they bump him up?

Now, how much does Aikman want? Is any color guy that necessary to enjoying the game? They could can them all and not bother me a bit. One guy doing the play by play is enough, I think I can figure out the rest without someone telling me what I just watched.
