Forget Sean Peyton, if Garrett is fired Romo will be offered the HC job before Peyton, you can bank on that. He was offered the OC job but he decided to fulfill his CBS job. Or maybe he is just waiting to see what happens with Garrett.

I wouldn't want to see that much inexperience at HC. If he did become OC, or even DC with the ways he predicts what the other team will do, for a year then maybe. But I really don't think he's going to give up a really lucrative TV gig that doesn't require near as many hours as coaching would.

Well he has the mind for it, at least for OC and I think he would be amazing at it.
Just like I thought we should’ve been beating down Peyton’s door to get him as our OC.
Those guys understand offenses and defenses on a next level.

He’s smart not to. Country club, drunk and penny pinching owners, QB that is average on his best days...

I’d keep the booth job as well

Jerry stepping down as GM or selling the team is more likely than Romo walking from the booth to an NFL HC position. I’m stunned at how many people don’t realize that being a HC or even a coordinator in the NFL is not something someone with no coaching experience could do well.

Romo won't be a coach any time soon. Just fire Garrett. That's step 1. and the most important step. I'll be very happy when JG is no longer roaming the sidelines.

Has a franchise QB that earned over 100 million in his career EVER become even a coordinator? let alone a head coach?
No
And no for very good reason.
Coaching is a massive grind

Romo will be a Cowboys HC at some point. And he’ll be great at it.

No way it happens while his kids are young when he’s got $10M per year on the table announcing games.

Would not put it past Jerry. While I like Romo and think he could become a good HC I would think any step towards becoming a HC will happen as an OC 1st. Again with Jerry you never can tell.

He is listed with a net worth of 70 million. I think he can do pretty much what he wants without having to worry if his kids will eat tomorrow. Granted the time a coach puts in through the year could very well be a reason Romo would not want to get into coaching at this stage. I have heard other former players say they had no desire to take on coaching because they know the hours you must put in. But Money wise I think Tony can pretty much call his own shots in life

Yeah, it's about the time with the kids. Romo's come out already and said as much---that he'd like to coach at some point because he's so competitive, but not while the kids are so young. It's what I'd do, too. Stay around the game and then step back in after a ten year broadcasting career or so. You know Jerry's already told him the Cowboys would be into it down the road.
