And as of now he's not bound to the team as well. Whether its from Dallas or another team, He's going to make bank regardless of surgery because he's a rare talent at a premium position. He has the leverage right now. He can delay surgery til the deadline, sign the tag, get the surgery, miss games and still make $20M. Cowboys had leverage last year and they used it tagging him, now the tables are turned and he's using his leverage.

Cowboys still have options which is trading him, will someone else pay 22 or 23 mill a year? I think DLaw is a very good player but rare talent? I don't think so. To me a guy like Mack or a JJ Watts is a rarity. Hell JJ Wats over the same time period that DLaw has been in the league has more sacks and missed most of 2 season and still put up more sacks. That is a rarity. DLaw is very good

That is what Dallas is in the middle of :lmao2::lmao::lmao2:Looks like a trade maybe coming.
Trade?
He's under a non-exclusive tag right? If so, any team can sign him to an offer and then the team can match it if they want to keep him.

If he's really worth that, then why hasn't any team stepped up and did that yet?

I like Tank, but enough is enough.
Time to cut bait...

He could care less who they keep. No player in the NFL cares about that. Brady is the only player giving a hometown discount but that was because he had no choice.
It wouldn’t surprise me if brady made more money off endorsements than football. He is just in it for the sb rings.

If they used the exclusive rights tag, they need to change it to the one that allows him to negotiate with other teams and see what happens. No team is going to give up 2 1sts for him but Dallas can let it be known they will except less than that in a trade. It’s time to move on. I can understand not giving a home team discount, but when a player who is not worthy wants to set the market, you let him do it somewhere else and let that team regret it in three years. Take what you can get for him, use the $20 million to improve the team, and don’t look back. I wish him well but he doesn’t deserve anything close to that and it will be nothing but total regret after two years. He is definitely a player I can see regressing after getting paid because he has gone through several periods of regression already. It seems a big payday has always motivated him back to being productive. I think he will settle in at merely average once getting paid.

Put him on the block. If you can get a 1, take it. If not pull the tag and take the comp pick next year. I would tell the agent go out and see if someone wants to pay you and we’ll work out a trade.
oh, we wil and can get a 1 in return and then some. Make no mistake.

What leverage? Don't get me wrong, he has leverage, but not that much. Mack had leverage because the Bears traded two first rounders for him, or else he wouldn't see that much money. No other team has paid a DE that much money. If the Cowboys pull the tag I don't think Tank gets that much money. But that remains to be seen.

If you don't want to pay an edge that, fine. But just under Mack is exactly where Lawrence belongs.

He does not. He should be just above guys like Flowers. Mack is a generational talent on the edge, who also does things from the OLB spot that Lawrence doesn't do - such as play in coverage, etc.

And frankly what Mack got was out of whack to begin with.

In no rational world is DeMarcus Lawrence worth the same as Mack. And if you think I am just being anti-Tank, note that I have had huge arguments with Verdict when he would claim just trade Lawrence. This team needs Lawrence but locking yourself into huge contract like that is a mistake IMO.

I see three possible teams .......Raiders, Chiefs or Colts. His impact on the young Colts D would be huge....

I say no way to that scene. Trade him and see what we can get. He is a good player but I do not place him on the level of Mack, Donald or Miller. Maybe its just me but I just don't see it.
nope, I agree with ya.

Raiders would give us a 1 and a 2 in this years draft..I promise you that...and maybe even a future conditional 3rd.

If I was Jerry Jones I would definitely tell tank that we are trying to keep the core players together..he will definitely take a discount If we tell him that
So Tank doesn't know this???
He plays, works, eats, hangs out with and lives with these guys almost every day of the year. You really think he's ignorant of the fact his football brothers have contracts expiring soon???
LOL

I’m in favor of trading him. His production isn’t likely to increase. Maybe 2 more years of his recent production and then the decline will start

Yes Dallas can very well trade him, and may even do so. I think this may play out like Mack did last year. Fact is, if he hit the open market this year he'd be the top FA available. He's an excellent pass rusher that can also defend the run. There's been a lot of stats floating around stating how his production is at or near Mack and Watt levels over the past 3 years.

The open market is a crazy thing. I'm sure Oakland never thought Mack would find someone to pay his asking price and then the Bears swooped in. Obviously, I'm not saying Lawrence is better, but he'll find his asking price if he becomes available to all other teams.

Again, doesn't he need to sign the tag for the Cowboys to be able to trade him?

He could simply say screw you and not sign the tag. Then the Cowboys are stuck, right?

Lol, folks getting bent outta shape about this don’t understand negotiating 101.

BTW, I don’t think he gets his asking price but even he ends up somewhere near ~$22M per year, 1-2 seasons from now when guys are signing for $23-25M it’s going to seem reasonable.
