Why would we even consider not signing Smith, not only one of the best if not the best LB in the game, here is a guy that if he hadn't have been injuried would have gone top 10 in the draft. He is a Von Miller type.

:lmao2:imagine being up for a raise at your job and giving your employer a “you believed in me” discount

God forbid anyone ever consider things like the TEAM or the FANS!!

People need to have a little dignity RE their money..

Don't forget as an RFA, there would pick draft pick compensation (likely a 1st) for any other team to sign him. A first and big money is a tough pill to swallow for a very good, but not elite player.

I could be wrong, but Jaylon was drafted in the 2nd round. I think the comp would be equal to that.

I am hoping he will compensate in negotiations for what JJ did for him by taking the chance. Lol.

Like that will happen.
He should.

Despite having inside knowledge of Dr. Coopers opinions, Jerry rolled the dice on this kid and he landed the perfect opportunity..

I'm guessing he would, considering he seems quite humble..

i think if he wasn't injured, he'd be a urfa. so we actually get to count that first year as a redshirt because he is now only a rfa.

i'd sign him. we have over 100m next year in cap. no reason not to sign a cornerstone top 4 mlb in his prime who is still improving as he heals from his injury. i had read that he still wasn't 100% last year and if so, he's an all-pro from here on out.

That 100 million is pretty much already gone.

They can still place the 1st round tender on him despite being a 2nd round pick.

People need to have a little diginity RE ther manhood and stop counting the next man’s pockets. Yall have sat thru 25 years of mediocrity without saying a damn word yet when it comes to the players contracts bu but what about the fans? Give me a break.

He's not.

Vander Esch is better because of his coverage ability.

Jaylon can thump better then anyone in football right now but it's a passing league and Vander Esch covers a ton of space.
This is no longer a passing league. RBs are being drafted very high in the draft again and teams are becoming run 1st teams. Even the Pats who never gave a 2nd thought to RBs drafted one in the 1st round last year.

I think that Mosley deal is an aberration. From what I read he wanted to stay in Baltimore and thats the kind of overpay it took for them to pry him away. It’s no big deal to the Jets because they had to spend money. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the new Keuchly contract, and by that I mean he’s the top contact at LB for years.

We need Jaylon and LVE here for a long time. Gonna be the best LB crew in the league for the next several years. Just need better tackles in front of them and a new DE if Tank continues to demand that obscene contract. Not to mention a solution to our shoe problems.
