27mil roster bonus last yr with a 7mil SB.
That is the exact same thing as a 34m signing bonus

SF just didn't need to prorate the 27m since they had 100m in cap space

But he was given 42m in cash in the first year and another 17m in year two

Dak would love that

Did you even bother to see why they did that? Dallas gave him a 3.25mil signing bonus. Or mabe u pay more attention to other teams then the one u root for.

Frederick is the same concept that I just explained with regards to Dak.

Frederick's signing bonus was only 18% of his fully guaranteed amount.

If Dak's SB was 10M and 18% of the fully guaranteed money, then the total guaranteed would be 55.55M.

it still all comes down to quarterback play and coaching if those two thing are not good then the team will struggle big time

ON last weeks Cowboys Break they talked about Cedrick Wilson. Apparently he has transformed his body and gained 10lbs of muscle. And apparently Devin Smith looks healthy again. If this guy can come back watch out.
They were hyping the wonders of Wilson last year in training camp before he got hurt. Sanjay said he got his ideas better than anyone else. Having him put in the work and get results on his body are two more good signs for him. Smart. Works hard. Gets results.

I love the Devin Smith pickup. Top of the 2nd round pick. Had a horrendous catch rate with the Jets, while was praised for his hands in draft profiles. Another high draft pick who didn't work out somewhere else picked up off the scrap heap. High upside for negligible cost.

Austin was very productive per target/rush for us. Another great pickup for nothing. The complaints about his durability miss the fact that he was very durable on lots of touches for every other year of his career.

Cobb, Austin, and Smith. Lots of speed. Lots of deep threats. Maybe lots of jet sweeps, or at least fakes of them. Works for Moore's reported motion/deception based offense.

xwalker no QB is going to accept a 10mil SB unless its like Garoppolos deal. say it 10 times. Dallas did that along with Tyrons because they needed to. Those were different times. Dallas has over 100mil next yr. 10mil isnt getting done. They dont need to restructure anybody.

definitely don't see an urgent push for a title this year more than any previous year. I think they're just filling what they can and hoping it turns out better than whatever rookie we may get or they're just filling in a position we lost due to FA. Doesn't mean we upgraded at all, but these 1 year deals are possibly setting us up to sign other players to contracts. These moves are just average fillers, nothing more.

With your plan you pay the Dead Money in years 1-3 of the contract when the cap is lower instead of years 4-6 when the cap is 50m higher

You are literally paying more than 2x what you have to on the cap for no good reason

You can never go back and create and use that cap space .....it is gone forever

If you push it forward you have so much more flexibility

Having TSmith and ZMartin and TFred with big base salaries and no Dead Money is a gigantic waste of resources.... it is like buying an extended warranty when the TV already comes with a 5 year warranty..... you just bought a false sense of insurance but all you did is waste money

If you want me to take a crap in a box and mark it with a guarantee I will.... I have the time

But if you want a quality Salary Cap then buy from me..... Dead Money is good

Just not a fan of locking up Elliott to a big contract.
If their is anyone on this roster that has earned a big contract, it's Elliott. He's the most likely to play up to the expectations of a big contract.

You clearly don't understand. There is no point trying to explain any further.

I see you are arguing about the salary cap with both me and @Nightman in the same thread...

It looks like Dallas is going for a run at a title this yr. The signings of Quinn, Cobb and Witten have eaten up cap that theres very little left if the intention is to resign Lawrence.

They can extend Cooper because his caphit is more then what it would be in an extension and its first yr caphit. Which will probably be around 5-8mil. So Dallas will save money there but not enough to be able to extend Dak. What they could do with the money saved is restructure and extend Elliot.

What does that mean for Dak? It means he has a yr to prove he deserves to be paid with the Brees, and Rodgers. Or if he's just along for the ride in the ever running overpaid QBs market.

What i think is gonna happen is Lawrence will be resigned, and then they go to Cooper and get that deal done saving money and then going to Elliot and getting him done long term. Then its up to Dak to prove his worth. And then come 2020 they will franchise him and work out a deal.

In terms of this yr, its very exciting for me because they got a legit shot at winning it all with Lawrence back. With the way they been drafting there no doubt in my mind they will be one of the favorites. This team really has no big needs. Everything they do in the draft is extra ammo for the win.

With Jones, Brown, Heath all due to be FAs next yr i think this team is already making plans for it and going to get atleast 2 DBs in the draft. Keep an eye on Jonathon Abram, Juan Thornhill, Isaiah Johnson, and Chris Westry. I actually think Abram or Thornhill will be the target in round 2. Both will probably need a trade up most likely. Dallas does have a comp pick to play with. Dallas has been in love with Johnson for awhile and would probably need to drafted in the 3rd if they want him. But Westry is the one that is the most intriguing because of his height and the speed(4.31 40).

Iloka is not guaranteed a spot on this team, 300k to cut him is nothing. I think he was brought in as insurance incase they missed out on the S' they like in the draft. Same with guys like Covington and Kerry. Think this team is looking for DTs aswell.

Gregory it looks like is gonna be playing in 2019. Dallas is making a strong pitch as is NE to get this rule changed in so some form.

ON last weeks Cowboys Break they talked about Cedrick Wilson. Apparently he has transformed his body and gained 10lbs of muscle. And apparently Devin Smith looks healthy again. If this guy can come back watch out.

Think Dallas set them up to replace La'el if he still struggles with resigning Fleming. Dallas could then extend Fleming at a price thats good for the team, and good for Fleming. Dallas already knows it has a player capable of starting in Fleming. With a guy like Collins leaving in FA Dallas would get a 4th comp pick depending on his contract. Which will most likely net them that 4th round pick.

Dallas has set itself up with a crazy amount of depth and thats before the draft. As i said its a very enjoyable time for me being a fan of this team.

You could end up being right about everything. But I think if Tank hasn't been signed to a deal on or before draft day the Cowboys are going to try to trade him on draft day. I think the odds on that are slightly better than 50/50.

Quinn, Gregory, Armstrong and Taco are not going to strike fear in the heart of opponents but add a draft pick to that (1st rounder) and maybe you have some pretty good ammo.

This team is not moving on from Dak unless he really stinks up the joint this year. If so expect a short term qb contact. Let's say 3 years at 20 million a season. The fact is it's too much to groom a new a qb. By the time he is ready that's 2-3 years into the future.

Quinn, Witten (signed for peanuts) and Cobb (peanuts as well providing he stays healthy) count roughly $5 million less than the hit D_law is having on the cap! Let this sink in.....$140 million, $85 million over 6 years. Blocking any kind of trade with his refusal to have surgery. He will miss at minimum half of next season and there is no guarantee he will be 100% ever again. I would trade D_Law for what I could ge for him and let another team pay him.

I think fans dont know how the cap works so why talk about it

It's actually pretty simple. You can do whatever you want as long as you restructure contracts. You can sign anybody. The cap is a built-in myth for owners to control profits and claim to be "tapped out."

I think that is a major part of it as far as restructuring contracts but beyond that I am pretty dumb.
