21M a year for an average pass rusher. We are going to regret this.
Not I. Dlaw's past 2 years have been double-digit sack seasons, a feat that hasn't been achieved since our great DeMarcus Ware did it in 2011 and 2012, and he achieved it while battling through a torn labrum.

For our posters who wanted to trade Dlaw, stick that one in your pipe and smoke it. :p

But he gets it in cash up front

It could be phrased differently, though. The $31 million doesn't reflect what his cap hit will be, which is the one number that we should really be concerned about.

Double digit sacks in contract years and we've seen this story play out before. Last year 5 of his 10.5 sacks came against 2 teams - The Lions and the Giants. Of the playoff bound teams we played last year - Philly, Saints, Indy and Seattle he had a whopping .5 sack against the Seahawks and did virtually nothing in the playoffs.

We are going to regret this big time.

It should be 7.1m for the first year

I understand that (or some figure close to that), but I don't think everyone does when they say he's going to get $31 million his first year.

Man, I posted in another thread before I know the specifics and was hoping they threw all the first year guarantees at him as a SB, didn't think they did though.

We did something smart. Finally.
