Imagine Aikman without Emmitt. Zeke will get a 2nd contract. And well draft someone who hopefully is better than Rod Smith.

Remember one of the years we had the best team in football again and emmitt held out for two games and we lost both games......?

If you have Tom Brady maybe you don’t need a Zeke, but when you have a Dak, JG, and a ton invested in your OL to include 3x PRo bowlers....we have to have a Zeke...

i really like the way Stephen and JJ are running the salary cap these days . I think they finally realize the importance of a stout defense to win championships, and avoiding monster contracts on one or two super stars. The Patriots blue print basically .
Zeke is a top tier RB , but Stephen is not going to spend silly , Gurley like money, on a RB. It is well documented that the RB position is the easiest to replace and rookie RBs can contribute immediately . Look at the cowboys after Demarco Murray departed.

If i were Stephen i would go after a quality RB in round 3 or 4 . Rodney Anderson from Oklahoma will probably be available. That guy is a beast and would be a steal . Brice Love /Stanford is another .

Haven't we had about 50 threads on Dat about this, and now this is the 4th or 5th about Zeke.

Sad thing is, after the draft, it will not stop.

If it werent for Zeke, Dak wouldnt be where he is today. It's highly likely that he doesnt unseat Romo as the starter in his rookie season. The numbers and success dak put up dont happen if Dallas had someone like McFadden as the starter. Zeke has more impact on the Dallas offense than anyone. It really sucks to be an RB in today's NFL.

2nd half vs Rams, when Zeke didn't show up (had less rushing attempts), Dak & the offense were still able to move the ball. But we need another rb behind Zeke to give the offense another look. Zeke at times asks out of the game on 3rd downs because he is fatigued.

The topic is moot. They are taking his fifth year option, which means he's not part of the 2019 contract negotiations.

This is and will not be an issue until 2020.

We have more weapons now with the depth at wr, the young te's improving, and we'lll get a rb this upcoming draft to spell Zeke.

Someone isn't going to get a new contract as there are not enough chairs of $$$$ to go around.....Zeke is NOT one of them.....

He explicitly said it’d start with Gurley money and they’d go from there.

I agree with you that it’s not worth it though.

I agree. Zeke is a dynamic back, but he takes a beating every game. His running style usually doesn't make for a long career. Good backs can be had after the 1st round, but special backs go early. The question is; how long can Zeke be a special back before injuries limit him to being a good back?

Yep

If we had a generational talent at QB then Elliott might be more dispensable. But Elliott’s talent level opens it up for Dak. And even with the league leading rusher our passing offense still struggles at times. We’ve already seen what our QB and offense is reduced to without a threat like Elliott.

This is kind of bull**** because the same time Elliot went out one of the most important players on the offense(Tyron Smith) was also out injured...so yeah when you're missing multiple all pros in your offense it's not going to be very great. This was also the same year we had replaced Leary.

Yea but with the rushing attack and threat we have with Elliott it should be opening up play action with Dak for a more lethal passing offense downfield.

Definitely had a more effective passing attack once we got Cooper aka as a legitimate threat at WR

he said that probably to sell Dak and Dlawrence on the tight cap space .. read between the lines ..

Stephen was absolutely clear with his articulation on the matter, stating precisely where the negotiations will begin with reference to Gurley and his new deal with respect to Zeke.

Trying to recontextualize these obvious facts is a foolish and embarrassing attempt to save face on the matter.

Wow! What kind of drunken binge were you on during the six games Zeke missed? Every part of the offense focuses on and goes through Zeke but yeah he's expendable!

I love Zeke, but to be fair our wide receivers were trash and the line was banged up as well

Round 3 or 4 is when I'm expecting to see Dallas come up with a backup for Zeke, although it could also come later.

Personally, I can't wait for the draft! I'm also liking the thought that the safeties and DTs are the strength of that draft!

No way. Just like with Emmitt, let’s be glad we have this guy on our side. We just need a nice complement to him.

eh, you cant fault someone for defending their point. Its not a good point but dont pile on the guy
Maybe. But when you say things and then 5 people post tweets or direct quotes contradicting your point it’s best to just walk away.

What an embarrassing fail this thread is.

It sounds like the OP spend a little too much time on youtube watching Rodney Anderson and Brice Love hype videos.

I've read some stinkers and this one doesn't disappoint. When an OP keeps coming back to a failed thread in a feeble effort to legitimize it then it just crawls into the sad category.
Too many sheeples fell for this utterly ridiculous idea that RB's have no value.

Didn't they have the same trash receivers and banged up line the previous week when they destroyed KC and the talking heads proclaimed them the best team in football all week!
