Well, for good or bad, he does have a team with a roster as good as any in the league. It’s also one of the youngest. Is it perfect? No. Is it a Contender? Absolutely.
I'm on the fence about contender. We might have never made the playoffs last year if Alex Smith doesn't go down. Commanders were winning the division

Of course. The greater influence the better decisions Jerry makes as we saw with Jimmy and Bill as well.

Jerry threw Manziels name out there in the War Room. No one bit and they moved on. More hoopla than anything else IMO. But some fans want to make like its some major turning point that Jerry began delegating more authority.

LOL.

Exactly and what players would we have drafted if we were a bad team that might have elevated us to a SB team. Nobody knows. All I know is the route this team has taken hasn't led to championships. That's all I'm saying. Martin was obviously the right pick but it really doesn't matter
Obviously Johnny was a bust in Cleveland. I wonder if he might have fared better in this offense ?

And he might have had an opportunity in 2015. Like Dak did in 2016.

That's right, Jerry is in charge. And I'll be damned, he's turned into a pretty good GM.

I get what you are saying. You still are missing the point.

My posts to Diehard were simply to provide facts about that night, that's it. I made no commentary to him about what it means in the larger picture. Diehard said Jerry didn't want to draft Manziel. I said that's false and have provided evidence to support that claim. That's it.

I wasn't talking to Diehard about what it meant. I was simply telling what happened that night.

I wasn’t addressing you specifically and wasn’t debating whether Jones wanted Manziel or not. I was simply saying he didn’t overrule his FO team and and take him anyway, proving he doesn’t make all the decisions on his own. I don’t know how to spell it out any better. I don’t care about the pissing contest in regards to whether he intended to take Manziel. I only care about what actually happened because that tells the tale.

There’s no need in denying the story. I’m not denying the story. I just believe it’s intentions were misrepresented .

Wanting Manziel is a true statement . Intending on drafting him is more subjective discussion.

Jerry thru his name out for the war room to discuss . And apparently no one bit. So they moved on. That’s what I’d call interest not intent to draft.

Jones had a draft card with Manziel's name on it and was set to turn it in, when Stephen Jones, his son and vice president of the team, "snatched" the card from him, according to Sean Lester who was a reporter in the war for the local paper that I can't name on this web site.

If you have a link that disputes this claim, please post.

I still wish we took johnny. Just to see what might have been. Might not have worked but would have been entertaining. Would have been on the cowboys in Texas where he was from. Plus I think Mike Pettine had it out for him and he is actually a coach I can say was/is worse than Garrett

Glad you have a crystal ball. Like many posters on here, you’re posting an opinion as fact. I don’t think Washington would win the division. That’s my opinion, but it’s just that. We have a better roster than Washington and it’s not really that close.

Since we had just given Romo a new 6 year contract the year before it didn’t seem likely we’d use a 1st round pick for a heir apparent we might not use for the duration of his Rookie contract.

But yea, he might have made a great backup. And who knows..

I agree that we have a better roster on paper but that doesn't win games. They already beat us in the first game. They were 6-3 when he went down. They probably beat us on thanksgiving considering Mccoy threw 3 ints that game.

That Romo contract was so stupid. And then had to listen to jerry say he can play out the contract.

Manziel was a complete screwup. He was more into being a partying celebrity than an NFL player. That wasn’t going to work anywhere.

What exactly is a draft card? Jerry was in the War Room not At the draft . Nothing is official until they call the draft HQ. That story “ snatched” sounds somewhat potentially sensationalized. I’m not denying it didn’t happen but you know the ole fish story concept.
