Just me but he nails it IMO ( several fans/posters been preaching all THREE )
Market.
He’s barely a top ten QB, if that. And the only reason this team is thinking of paying a QB of that caliber Top 3-4 money is because they are bowing to the market.
I think it’s stupid as is the logic that hey, it’s Ok to sign him to a huge contract now because it won’t be a top 3-4 contract in 4 years.
But it seems destined to happen so it is what it is.
That’s not the logic though. The logic is that’s the price of doing business today, and you can’t compete if you want to pay the prices of the past.Market.

I’m fine with it. The sooner it happens, the sooner it will get surpassed by other deals.
Prescott has so many intangibles like toughness, heart, smarts, and leadership. If his physical abilities continue to grow to match his intangibles, it is going to be a huge bargain.
His team mates will run through a wall for him, he is clutch as all hell, and he’s an extremely hard worker. Not to mention that he’s a winner and always has been.
I’m ready for it to get done.
Fact of the matter is that we aren't finding a better option without tanking for a year or mortgaging the future.
Giving out a contract that's top 5 now , top 10 in a year, and average by 2021 is not the same as trading a bunch of picks. You get one first rounder given to you every year and that isnt changing. The market is.
So there are your options. Use a ton of picks to jump to the top of the 1st, have a tank-tastic season, or give a fair market value contract to a guy that has won 2 division titles in 3 years. That choice isnt half as difficult as many on here would lead you to believe.

A person can dislike the price of quality a car in today’s world, but if that person won’t pay today’s prices he is going to have to settle for the base model Hyundai
I agree they have the option to wait, but the price tag isn’t likely to change for the better. Im sure they don’t want to wait until after the season because then their backs will be against the wall to make something happen. I’m no expert on the salary cap, but I saw someone mention that by signing him now some of the cap hit may be absorbed this year, leaving more cap space next year for Zeke and others. Why does he have to be signed now?
This might make more sense if they had no choice. But they have options.
The guy has heart, is industrious, doesn't quit and most importantly is a winner. I'll take that anyday.

Intangibles...unquantifiable stat!I’m fine with it. The sooner it happens, the sooner it will get surpassed by other deals.

Or you could let him play the 2019 season under his existing contract, see if he’s progressed further then tag him or sign him long term in 2020.
There is no gun to their heads to get this done now.
