I wouldn't be surprised if he tweaked it lifting.

He could have had a strained rotator cuff for the last 10 years, and then pulled it a bit when the muscles around the shoulder got weaker. Surgery doesn't necessarily mean it's a serious injury, especially since he will be ready to go by July.

Not worried about fredbeard at all. Looney played just fine and should start with the 1's untill fred can earn his job back. Same for Witten with the TE group. You don't play for a year you earn your spot back.

You should be. He's been out of the game for a year with an autoimmune disease which causes weakness and tingling. His job is to move 300lb+ defensive tackles. Looney was okay last year, but Beard might never be the same.

The reality is that, by week 17, everyone is banged up. It's odd that the Cowboys have had a number of shoulder surgeries, specifically, but it's not rare for teams to have several players getting surgery after the season ends.
