Not too often a poster just gets absolutely destroyed by multiple posters to the severity Stash has in this thread.

Putting up the yellow tape because this is a murder scene.
Is not even the original argument that’s an issue, Crawford’s contract and role are actually a decent debate topic. Stash just did a bad job of prioritizing his battle points lol gotta give Kaiser and Ghost this W.

I can certainly see a situation where Crawford gets cut or traded, but you would have to have A) everyone stay healthy and B) the tryout guys like Jackson, Hyder and Jelks all perform above expectations. IF that happened, I could certainly see them moving on from Crawford in the preseason. But the chances of A & B both happening are close to zero.

Exactly. Additionally, acting like Crawford brings nothing to this team is ignorant. From the leadership locker room aspect to his durability and versatility on the field, Crawford has been a lunch pale worker who’s contributed to this team’s success.

Shoot he’s a victim of his own versatility, as 5.5 sacks from DT is a very good number. Imagine if he was able to grow into the position and stay put, I don’t doubt he would have been a fringe pro bowler type, anytime a DT gets 6 sacks it’s something significant.

I would keep the first 8 guys on that list over Crawford but Covington is still a wildcard moving to the 1T. We tried a similar move with Cedric Thornton with big money and it was a disaster.

What does this have to do with signing Covington for almost nothing?

We have a lot of guys with upside, but the idea that a 7th round pick is someone a lock to make the roster over Crawford is David Irving Land.

Nobody ever said Jelks was any sort of "lock". It's incredible that you're so quick to blame someone else for using a "straw man" but you're the first guy to do it?

Funniest thing is the guy bashing Crawford for not being a starter then saying being a starter isn’t the point when people bring up snap count lol.

Stasheroo: He’s not a starter though!

Logic and reasoning: Well he got the 2nd most snaps last year, so regardless of where his name is typed dude plays starter snaps.

Stasheroo: Why are you hung up on the starter thing!

Logic and Reasoning: Well what’s the issue then?

Stasheroo: We shouldn't be paying a non-starter starter money!

Logic and Reasoning: Dude

@Kaiser
@GhostOfPelluer @stasheroo

You really think you speak for "logic and reasoning" do ya?
:lmao:

Ok big mouth, you tell me where Crawford is YOUR "STARTER"? Look even more stupid.

It’s over man, give it a rest on this thread lol. We all know you have a strong dislike for T. Craw, just about every other thread you make it known.

I will say I don’t think I’ve ever seen a guy argue against a whole thread lol, doesn’t seem fun haha

So you're good with cutting both before you ever see them play in an NFL game? Kind of makes them wasted draft picks then, doesn't it?

So both Covington and Hyder are also cut before they ever play a snap during the regular season? To keep a guy that will ultimately cost you 10 times as much? OK...

And "upside" is a key for me, as is cost. The young players might have upside that Crawford doesn't at this point. And cost is the part that fans don't want to mention, because Crawford will lose there every time.
Yes. I'm going to cut low draft picks who never stepped on a NFL field before I cut a starter who can play all 4 of dl spots and has started at 2 of them, maybe 3, someone can fact check me on that one.

Good thing about all this, we don't have to cut ANY of them right now and they can play it out. No need to cut Crawford right now. He's a 10m cap hit which would make him the 10th highest paid DT or the 16th highest paid DE. He'd be a 5.9m cap savings this year. We're not hurting for cap space so no need to cut him now. If the others work out and we can save 5.9m, great. But no reason to do it before, as you said, the others even step on the field and show what they have.

If you constitute two guys as a "whole thread", that's your issue. What else do you want to be wrong about today?

What constitutes " a low draft pick"?

That's why I said it. They don't have to do anything now. I never claimed otherwise. They have a 90 man roster.

You listed Jelks above Crawford on your depth chart and said "you can't keep Covington, Hyder, Joe Jackson, or Jelks without cutting any of the guys who are already here. Something's gotta give."

That's not a strawman, that is a direct quote.

It wasn't a "depth chart", it was simply a numerical list of the names on the roster. That's a Strawman.

Im all in on Darren Lee. As a back up plan for Sean Lee and as a depth guy. Dude can shut down TEs esspecially fast ones.

SEAN is about to start again and thats scary. Its better to prepare then not. DARRON Lee could knock Covington or Thomas off this roster easily. And Darron Lee is close friends with Zeke

Lee is starting in place of Damien wilson who only played less than 30% of defensive snaps last season
