As a player Deion was about as good as it gets -- as a TV commentator, not so much!
He’s been doing it a long time. He also has a Golden Coral commercial based on him being a good announcer— not name recognition/celebrity as his name isn’t mentioned.

Imo his broadcasting career has been a success.

His time with the falcons was quality between his coverage skills and return ability without a doubt he still would have been hall of fame.

He’s got a large mouth and at times I can’t stand him but there’s no denying he was truly the best cover corner ever and if he could tackle the gap between second would be even larger

Now his rings in San Fran and Dallas helped to get him the gigs he currently holds

Would Deion be in the Hall of Fame if he had stayed in Atlanta instead of blazing a path for Kevin Durant by going championship hunting with SF and Dallas?
I don't think so. What say you?
Of course. He was the best cover corner. Full stop

This thread is about would Deion have made it to the HOF if he had not left Atlanta.

You're absolutely right. I apologize to the OP. Didn't mean to hijack his thread.

Yes, Deion would have been in the HOF if he had stayed in Atlanta. No doubt...

Talent is talent, and despite being an A-hole, Deion had it. Even in Atlanta, he was the best cornerback of his generation. He played the mercenary game just right when free agency hit, and just so happened to get some rings out of the deal as well. I may not like him, but his methods were effective.

He got paid well, had a high profile, won championships, and deservedly went into the Hall of Fame.
I agree although I think Darrell Green was the best all around CB to this day. Deion certainly the best cover CB ever in the NFL but couldn't tackle his own grandmother. Just my opinion

Did you see Deion play , could of played for any team - HOF lock, the best shut down corner to play period.

Saw him play, met him and talked to him. He was good, just don't like him. I actually got an autographed football that I didn't ask for. Gave it to one of my former players that idolized him.

That's a tough one. I say a big fat NO.

I say a big fat YES and he still would have been a first ballot Hall of Famer. He pretty much had a Hall of Fame career in Atlanta. The 5 years Dieon was in Atlanta he had 24 INT’s with three pick sixes. He had 5 returns for touchdowns on kick offs and punts. He was sensational in Atlanta which is why the 49ers, Cowboys and Commanders paid him all that money.

Without those Rings and the fact that DAL couldn't beat Frisco while he was on their roster.....I'd say NO.

Deion didn’t need the rings he had the numbers. He had 53 career interceptions with nine pick sixes. He had six more touchdowns as a receiver and kick returner. I can’t stand Deion but he was a great player. I don’t allow my dislike for him distort what he was as a player.

Growing up in the DC area, Darrell Green was given a ridiculous amount of love in the local media and also national media going all the way up to Madden & Summerall. Green was great but not better than Deion. I mean DG get's a lot of credit for playing for one team, playing for as long as he did. But you guys have to remember Irvin owned him and really let the cat out of the bag on how to beat him back in 1991. Please go watch that game.. the one where we ended the Skins undefeated season. Aikman to Irvin, Beurlein to Irvin.
Plus DG was never the type of shutdown corner that Deion was. He never shut down half the field even to the level of Revis Island.
Great player, HOF'er not better than Deion. Reputation of speed made people spin tall tales.

Get it straight! I do not think he would have made the HOF if he had stayed with the Falcons. Have an OK weekend. ;);) Salud!

I hate the Commanders, but I loved Green. He was my brother's neighbor in college. Got to meet him a couple of times when I was in Junior high. Really nice person.
