Lots of debate on both players. With the draft and FA, Dallas is stacked on the DL. It will be a struggle to make the final roster. In my opinion Crawford and Taco are nearly the same player, meaning a DE with some ability to play inside. Crawford seems to have made the full conversion to DE.

We know what Crawford is at this point. Try hard guy, limited production, decent run stopper, below average pass rusher, good leader, injury prone...

We really don't know what Taco is. Attitude issues, flashes real ability, injury prone, Social Media headache, first rounder that was supposed to take a couple years, then ???...

I doubt Crawford makes the roster given all the depth but if he does doesn't he hurt Taco's development? With Quinn on a 1 year deal and Gregory being a question mark, isn't this the year to see what we have in Taco. Get him snaps at DE and DT and see what we have.

I vote for Taco over Crawford and it is not even a close decision. What do you all think?

Crawford is probably still our best pass rushing DT. I've been trying to push him out the door for years, but we don't have the horses for it. Probably not next year either, as Collins is in his contract year.

Conceivable that they give up on Taco if he doesn't show up this summer. But with the 5th year option still on the table, hard to see that happening. 1st round pick. He's going to have to prove them wrong. Though it would be a big signal to the team to drop a 1st round pick, and they held him out of games last season. If you want to make an example of someone, he'd be a good example.

Were talking 2 different positions. Crawford is versatile enough to play the 3T or DE, but most productive at the 3T. Taco has only played DE mostly on early downs. If we are talking strictly De Taco is the guy but if we need crawfords versatility like years past then he's the guy. Not sure Taco could play the 3T like some suggest, but he did play better after getting benched/ recover from his injury last year.

Crawford
2018: DT 8 starts, DE 7 starts
2019: Salary 7M, NOT guaranteed

Taco
2018: DE 7 starts
2019: Salary 1.38M Fully Guaranteed

They won't cut Taco.
Low salary
Guaranteed salary
Previous 1st round pick (upside still possible)

Crawford's fate is likely tied to other players:
Hyder
Similar DE/DT tweener skillset.
Likely competes as a base downs DE.
Only cost 1M vs 7M for Crawford.

Covington
Has both 1-tech and 3-tech type skillet.
A combo 1/3 tech is ideal as the 4th DT on game day.
Salary is 1.75M (750K guaranteed).

Maliek Collins
IF healthy, the likely starter at 3-tech DT.
If injury issues return before game 1, Crawford would be insurance.

T.Hill
Only an issue if he does not look ready to be 1 of the 4 game day DTs.

Less likely to impact Crawford
Mid/Late round DL from 2018/2019 drafts.
They'll likely keep at least 1.
Crawford needs to be the #2 RDE or #2 at 3-tech DT to justify the 7M.
The young mid/late player's won't affect the starter and #2 decisions.

Starters
1. DLaw
2. Quinn
3. Collins
4. Woods

3rd DE
5. Hyder or Crawford

3rd DT
6. Hill

4th DE
7. Taco

4th DT
8. Covington (Crawford could be in the mix at DT also)

Total Spots: 10 most likely, but could be 9 or 11

Options for the 9th and possibly 10th and 11th spots.
Dorance Armstrong
Joe Jackson
Jalen Jelks
Daniel Wise
Ricky Walker
Shakir Soto

It's possible that one of the 9th/10th spots go to:
Hyder possible if he does not win 3rd/4th DE spot.
Covington possible is he does not win the 4th DT spot.

off our roster.

Crawford to me is "just good enough." But we don't know about a possible suspension.

Taco, while a disappointment, has battled injuries and we'll just have to wait and see.

Crawford is less than solid in my eyes and getting older. Taco hasn’t even gotten a full chance. Now I now his attitude and injury have been the issue but do we really know what the guy is yet. End of 2017 and the first couple games last season the guy was good. I don’t want them to hurt his development for the likes of Crawford is my main point.
Full chance? Attitude issues are on him and injuries are part of the game. Some overcome them and some with ridiculous attitudes do not.

Crawford at his best is playing in a rotation at DT. Asinine to move him to DE. Does not have the speed and flexibility to play there.

If I were in charge BOTH would be likely be gone. But if I had to pick one, it would be Crawford (with the understanding that he takes a pay cut). I’d try to trade Taco for a project safety or a late round pick.

So, now, it comes down to a momentous decision between Taco or Crawford?

Easy decision for sure. Thus far, Taco makes Crawford look like a Pro Bowler!

Then again, maybe I'm a tad hasty. Let's see which one recovers the best, ok?

I'm not in charge BUT, will play along. Most upside? Taco. Most flexibility Crawford. Strongest to play inside, Craw. Most career pressures and sacks, Craw. Closest relative of mine? Craw. Craw hands down for me
