wentz had the team as the 1st over all team until his injury. among the best in the league and he was an MVP candidate, but for fans arguments, they always point to Foles…. Simms didn't play in the first Giants Superbowl, Hostetler won it. no one will mistake who got the giants there....
Once again, more proof you are an iggles fan.

Prescott's agent is going to want the same money or better but it is still all about the guarantee money. Check the numbers on Wentz, cap hit this year is some $8mm, next year $22mm and so forth. It is really a six (6) year deal as he is going into his 4th year and Philly would have took the 5th year option on him.

For Dak, probably means a 5 year deal at around $158mm then add in this year at $720k, you really have $26mm avg per year. Probably $110mm in guarantees but betting the cap hit in the first 3 years not more than $22mm per year if that. Bonus money out of that $110mm will be a split something like $50mm initial and then around bonus in 2 yr for say $20 million (this is how to spread the bonus over all six years instead of 5). And probably first 3 years of salary guaranteed, say $40mm, so really going into 2022, Dallas could walk away but with a $40mm cap hit.

Remember though, lots is going to change with the new CBA especially with the TV contracts going up and up, gambling money likely to even be more than the TV contracts, and other moneys. Also, betting Mahomes contract will easily exceed $40mm avg a year with his extension next year. Like it or not, it is the NFL we now live in.[/QUOTE]

You are exactly right and hit the nail on the head.

Owners are expecting a lot of growth over the next few years which will result in greater salary cap increases from year to year. This makes sense as to why we are seeing bigger and bigger deals, especially for QBs.

I don't feel bad at all for paying Dak 30 million a year now.

Actually, Simms not only played in the 1st Giants SB, he was voted SB MVP. (SB XXI)
It was SB XXV that Hostetler played in.

Just a correction. Sometimes everything blends together... lol.

The rest of the league and particularly NFC EAST team's would love nothing more than for Dallas to hamstring itself by rewarding a mediocre QB with a long term contract.

Why not go ahead and do it...... Jerry has already been hamstringing the team for 10 years by retaining Garrett.

While the Cowboys win the NFCE over and over with Dak and get no further than them except for one fluke year before they figured Peterson out.

Truth be told, Dak is good enough to win 8-9 games a year and maybe get the team to wild card week on occasion. Thats not good enough. If the goal is to win a super bowl rather than just pay guys who deserve more money, we are better off investing in another QB. A kid from Clemson comes to mind. I'd sell Dak, Elliot, Cooper, and DLaw for a shot at Trevor Lawrence in 2021. Team would be closer to a super bowl even with the Garret handicap.

5 years - $160million

~$115million guaranteed

$70m signing, first 3 years guaranteed at 14, 15, 16 million.

Then non-guaranteed years of 22, 23 million.

I stand corrected. Simms did play in the first one and three years later Hostetler played in the wide left superbowl...but same point. Simms was Key. Hostetler finished the job and coaching and plan worked to perfection.

If you thought Lawence was the next Payton Manning, wouldn't you make that deal?
Idk? But You've pretty much sold off all four foundational cornerstones in the acquisition of this 'coin toss'(what's the odds of him wentzin' out on us injury-wise?)
