what if he bombs this year and we are looking at a one of new guys coming out
Dak hasn’t come close to bombing yet...why would he suddenly bomb in his 4th season?

If you’re gonna play the “what if” game, suppose Dak leads us beyond the divisional-round for the first time since the 1995 postseason; possibly all the way to the SB promised land?

If that were to happen, and Dak HADN’T been extended before this coming season, we might then be looking at the first $40mil per QB in 2020.

Nate Burleson makes the case why Dak Prescott deserves to be one of the NFL's highest paid QBs...

Like Nate Burleson said, "Show respect for Dak Prescott."

And like Michael Irvin said, "When you have the heart and soul and leader of your team at the quarterback position, I don't know why we're talking about his money," Irvin said. "That's worth $15-20 million, by itself, a year. Now you got to pay him to play football also. I mean, let's be real here. It shouldn't even be a discussion when we talk about it, and the amount of wins this man has had, and the way he's won football games. It shouldn't even be a discussion. It really shouldn't."

PS: Someone show me Wentz making such plays and pulling rabbits out of some magic hats like Dak is shown have done. Yet, Wentz got paid...

At some point you have to credit to the rest of the team. Dak had a lot of help! The question with Dak is how much was it Dak and how much was it the the team. Because if your going pay Dak like a top 5 QB then you better view him as a guy who will lead this team to a SB. Idk if he can or not and he has had some good games but been he has also had some head scratchers. In the 3 years I ha e watched every single game that Dak has played and I can't honestly say Wow except for the Eagles game last year and the Giants game. The game against Seattle never should of been that close. I just dont think Dak is worth top 5 money.

Yep - some don’t seem to realize the “what if” game goes both ways.

There it is, that's what it's all about and this isn't just about Prescott getting 30M but Elliott and Cooper getting 16M, Lawrence getting 21M with Jaylon and Lord Byron on the horizon. Throw in the OL and it doesn't take long before you've allocated half your cap to not enough players to field an 11 man team. Any team that does that better have damned good health because one injury to one of those and it's a real problem.

What the Cowboys are in danger of doing is the exact opposite of what the only guy that has figured out how to build a contender in the cap era. He might do one of those deals, not the Lawrence or Elliot one, but to do all of them is to play the house against the worst odds, players staying healthy.
This makes too much sense Coach.

Let’s pay Dakster top 5 money and let him elevate us without a league leading RB or WR1 and all of the Pro Bowl OL.
No worries right.. lol

You are insinuating that the lack of bombing is because of Dak and not the scheme or play calling.

In 3 years he will be the 10th highest paid QB. Its the nature of new contracts. Do you understand that?

This is hilarious, but it's my fault for not being specific. I meant "post-injury". This escapability video of Wentz is from before he got injured. Show me any video of Wentz being able to escape after his knee and back injuries. I bet you can't. ...... Yet, Wentz got a new expensive $32 mil/season contract extension based on what he could do pre-injuries? :muttley:

Good luck with that.

Dak had a lot of help? Like who? Name them.

Like Wentz has by being surrounded by a Super Bowl caliber and proven team?

What Pro Bowl OL the past two years? What WR1 the past 2 years before Amari showed up halfway last season? What WR2 the past 2 years? What TE1 the past 2 years? What OLine Coach the past 2 years? What O-Coordinator the past 2 years?

I'll wait... Hope you know what you are talking about Greg.

Smith and Martin both Pro Bowlers on OL, Cooper a WR1( guess you forgot we were 3-4 ), Elliott -league leading rusher .

We have already seen what Dak is without any of these pieces.

Look at the giants game that didn't count.. Still a division game, he had no O-Line and no Elliot.. He played great and threw 3 TD passes to TE...This kid is a baller... He makes plays when it counts. I think he hasn't hit his ceiling yet, he may be close but not yet, this year will tell us everything. Set back and watch the excuses and reasons.. its only happening because of the team around him...Duhh.. Its a team game..

The window is closing fast on being able to win a championship without an Elite QB since once you have to pay a QB he will need to carry the offense elevating those around him without as much elite supporting cast.

Like Nate Burleson said, "Show respect for Dak Prescott."

A fundamental problem with both players and management is mistaking salary as a measure of respect, and what one deserves, instead of a price paid by a business with a cap on spending. It's a business with a purpose. It shouldn't be about personal feelings, and making it about feelings is simply poison to a salary negotiation.

We beat a team beaten all year that had every incentive to throw the game for a higher draft position. This is not the game to try to sell Dak with.

So why did the Giants play all of their starters all game long? The Giants even said pre-game they were going to play to win the game, which they did try very hard to do.

I’m not worried about Dak. He just has “it”. I know he will work his tail off and keep getting better, he will not get into trouble, he will be a great leader, and he will probably stay healthy.
I was a huge doubter of his coming out but he has sold me. He just wins and I see a lot of continued improvement. I’m not concerned about his contract, it should probably be a bit higher than Wentz.
I won’t name names so as to not side track the convo but there’s only about 7 QBs I’d take over Dak right now and 3 of them are due to retire any year now.

Smith and Martin Pro Bowlers? They've been injured and playing injured for the past 2 seasons. The rest of the Oline has stunk it up many times the past 2 seasons, hence why the Oline coaching change halfway through last season. Did you see where the Oline finished ranked this past season? 15th. Middle of the pack. The same Oline that gave up a franchise record number of QB sacks and pressure.

As for Cooper, he didn't come on board until halfway through the seaaon. Who was a real WR1 prior to Cooper arriving or even all of 2017? Heck, who was a true WR2 the whole past 2 seasons? What about a true TE1 the past 2 seasons?

You still haven't answered these questions. I wonder why?

you lost that bet
It takes 2 years to comeback fully healthy from a torn ACL. It's a miracle he did what he did last year. @1:35 just amazing @2:50 I think thats michael irving commenting...ouch

I really don’t care about your questions. They had nothing to do with my post. It’s a lame attempt to deter my narrative.

I guess you forgot that Smith and Martin were still Pro Bowlers last year. And we saw how ineffective Dakster is without WR1.

That’s my point. We’ve already seen what he is without this Pro Bowl talent around him.
