or 100s of other NFL players from 32 teams over the past upteen years..... come on dude....get over it....Maybe Aikman did and it would make sense, because he became very successful. But....Find me when Romo ever said he wanted to be among the best to play the game. Or Carter.
If Prescott had said, I had a great bowel movement this morning. His supporters would say he's improving and will one day be the best ever.
What ever you say, I couldn't care less what names you call me. Just some little man on the internet that needs attention.or 100s of other NFL players from 32 teams over the past upteen years..... come on dude....get over it....
you are defintley a Dak Lover not a Dak Fanatic...you are foaming at the mouth on a sound bite statement we all have heard 100s of times.
Wanting better and getting better are two different situations.Drive can only take you so far. I don't care anything about pedigree, only performance. For various reasons, we haven't seen a consistent level of performance from Prescott except in 2016. I want him to succeed and settle the QB spot for years to come. I just think he needs to show that he's even on a QB like Russell Wilson's level. Wilson had three 100-plus QB ratings for a season in his first four years. If Dak has one this year, it will be his second in four years. If he doesn't, it will be his third year in the 90s or lower. I think we should want better than that for 30 million per year.
Some are going to see this as me not liking Dak. That's absolutely incorrect. I loved the Dak Prescott or 2016. I loved the Dak Prescott of the last half of 2018. That's my quarterback. I only question whether that's who he is going to be or the QB of 2017 of the first half of 2018. I don't want to be tied to that QB as my franchise guy.
I wonder if anyone thought we would win a SB after winning one game when Troy was qb, and the second season we went 8-8? Who would have thought that we would win 3 sb's. I am not saying that Dak =Troy, but you just never know what can happen. If our oline is back, it will lead to good things.Of course you do, that’s just a moronic statement
Of course ANYONE would want desire and heart
The guy down the street from me might have the work ethic and desire to be the QB for the cowboys, that doesn’t mean he should be
ESP at the QB position in the NFL, talent is more important than anything else for greatness
It also certainly does not mean he should be paid 30 million per year
These lollipops and rainbows threads about Dak ignore the obvious facts that he had real basic deficiencies that he has shown an inability to improve on in the last 3 years when his job and a ton of money have been on the line
You think he will suddenly improve when he is actually making that money?
He is who he is and that’s not good enough
THE worst thing a franchise can do is to pay an average QB elite money hoping he will BECOME elite
He will keep us “relevant” but we’re nit winning a SB with Dak and Garrett
He played against the best D's in the country in Bama, Auburn and LSU and all tried to force him into being a pocket passer and Saban admits to struggling against mobile QB's.
I am not really knowledgeable enough to go against coaching and Dan Mullen, whom I respect as a coach, never thought of replacing him once he took the job. He made Romo hang up his cleats.
But the one thing that really got my attention wasn't about coaching. When it was established that Prescott was the official QB1, Romo's best friend on the team embraced Prescot as the unquestioned leader. There are a lot of rookie QB's that would have wilted under that pressure and that wasn't a universally accepted decision.
Dak doesn't have to win any of us over, that ship has sailed and few will change their opinion of him, if they've dug in too deep. And it's not about winning his coaches over. He's already completed the toughest task any QB can face, he won his teammates over. Some QB's like Cutler, with greater talent, never do that.
We do not look at this like the players do. We look at the position and ask ourselves 'is this a QB'? They ask themselves first 'is this a football player'? That's how the Jim McMahon's, Trent Dilfer's and Brad Jonhson's lead their teams to titles.
I am already so tired of this subject but it is still driving the forum. I have accepted that he will be the highly paid QB1 of the DC and am ready to move onto the real issue, Elliott's contract.
All you have to do is look at all of the teams who have been trying to get a legit franchise QB, but can't quite land one.Wanting better and getting better are two different situations.
That's what gets lost in these discussions, what are the other realistic options? If they could have a shot at Herbert or Tua in this next draft, are they going to be any better? Or could they possibly be worse? Are the QB's taken ahead of Prescott in the 2016 draft really better?
Where is all gets funky is because it's the Dallas Cowboys. Fine for CIN to have Dalton or OAK to have Carr or any of these other teams that haven't won it all to have whatever QB they have but we are the Cowboys and deserve better.
Anyone have a real problem with this, do this little exercise, take a look at the QB's this FO took after Aikman, who was a no brainer, before they lucked into an UDFA QB. If they hadn't had that stroke of luck the Daktractors might be yelling "whatever he wants, pay the man".
gimme, everyone wants a Tier 1 QB, why do we think we deserve one?

And that's the magic. Look at the team they built around Troy and some forget that first ring he got, he had the #1 D in the NFL plus the #1 RB.I wonder if anyone thought we would win a SB after winning one game when Troy was qb, and the second season we went 8-8? Who would have thought that we would win 3 sb's. I am not saying that Dak =Troy, but you just never know what can happen. If our oline is back, it will lead to good things.
Pretty sure you never said that about the previous QB, ...... twice.
Alright now, you are getting carried away because they're not jumping off 10 story building the last 23 years, they won the East the last 3 of 5.Yep
When you jump off a 10 story building, “you just never know what might happen “
and we’ve spent 23 years doing stupid things thinking “you just never know what can happen”
If he don't keep himself out of trouble then Elliot may not have a contract.. He has to grow up soon.He played against the best D's in the country in Bama, Auburn and LSU and all tried to force him into being a pocket passer and Saban admits to struggling against mobile QB's.

If they do not extend Elliott this season, do they try and take a look at the team without him to avoid paying him 15M with a chance he could catch a time out? I would and wouldn't have a problem telling him that. Somebody needs to get his attention and impress on him because of his history, there are no small crimes with the league office. If he don't keep himself out of trouble then Elliot may not have a contract.. He has to grow up soon.
Talk is cheap. For reasons most posters know ......you wouldn't understand
If you as a true Cowboy fan are not encouraged to hear this.....I don't know what to tell ya
Jesus Christ, you'd think it's something every fan would to like hear from every player on the roster.
Well if you had Daks talent maybe you would.I want to be the best to play the game as well. It ain't happening though
They will use the 5th year option on him and wait it out to see if he gets in more trouble.. He will likely not want to play under the tag.If they do not extend Elliott this season, do they try and take a look at the team without him to avoid paying him 15M with a chance he could catch a time out? I hear violins playing , the world is in balance CC say's so.He played against the best D's in the country in Bama, Auburn and LSU and all tried to force him into being a pocket passer and Saban admits to struggling against mobile QB's.

I have noticed that trend with the really unhappy posters about this team. They lump it all in a pile and do not look at some good years within those 23 just because they didn't go all the way.
They also discount the winning % of this QB with some poor throws. It becomes almost as if the good throws are all luck.
Whatever you want to feel or think, you can make a case for it. You can find stats for it. You can shore up any argument once you choose a side which is why I didn't choose one with Romo and haven't with Prescott.
vision, not singling you out at all but some posters don't even see a half empty glass, they've drained the glass. They've put this 23 years of futility and misery into a narrative with a large helping of entitlement.
One thing became apparently clear last season, there is just no making some people on this forum happy. When I ask posters where they thought this team was going at 3-5, I get no answer. When I say the QB and the HC are responsible for one of the best turnarounds in team history, all I get is 270 yards rushing in LA.
I went through those glory years but I learned to leave that behind, just as I have the last 23 years because it is a new season every season. The past doesn't matter and owes us nothing.
