In 2011 Tebow averaged 123.5 yards a game passing, that would be bad in the 70s, a year later with the only significant change being the qb Manning averaged 291 and the year after set NFL records for passing. Tebow is a good guy and we need more like him in this world but we don't need more qbs like him. What qualifies as the rest is history here? They dumped tebow and brought in Manning who had a historical offense just to fail in the end then finally win one with a great D while playing as a ghost of his former self. He was damn near as bad as tebow at times his final season.
So you qualify the rest is history as the few years he played exceptional and not the downfall that was more sudden than expected?
Yeah, the Cowboys got caught up with winning in 2016 but a good organization looks into the how and why and also can separate the qb play and evaluate it on it's own just as they should every position. If they had done that then they wouldn't have been so heads over heels behind Daks performance, we/he had a lot of things that went his way in 2016 that you can't replicate. Teams need philosophies and formulas to win and "just win baby" is not a formula that can be replicated. The way Tebow was winning was not sustainable, I mean they beat KC with him throwing 8 passes and completing 2 for 69 yards. He had 5 games where he completed 10 or less passes and they were 4 and 1 in those games. So they were winning but the were doing so in spite of him.
Manning set NFL records in 2013 so it wasn't his fault that they didn't win the sb at least he got them there.
