As of today, there is about 75 million in cap space for the 2020 season. This is without Dak, Amari, and Byron Jones under contract.

Dak and Amari are more than likely to get extensions soon and based on what I've been hearing Jones will most likely be headed to free agency.

New contracts will also affect Dak's and Cooper's cap hit ls for this year. Dak's will rise to about 9 (+7million) million and Cooper's will drop to about 8 million (-5million). They basically offset each other.
  • With an extension Dak's cap hit will be at 18-24 million in 2020.
  • Amari 18-20 million cap hit in 2020.
So, about 40 million in cap hits between those two players.

Leaving 35 million in cap space and that is not adding in a rise in the cap (which will be about 8-10 million).

That means we will have about 45 million in cap space available for 2020 with all of our key players locked down.

There is also the possibility of releasing players like Hurns this year, which will free up almost 5 million in cap space or Crawford after this season to clear 8 million in cap space.

Look for us to have about 50 million in cap space for 2020 with Zeke, Dak, Cooper, and Lawrence, our entire oline under contract.

We will have plenty of space to extend Zeke next off season if the front office has him in their long term plans.

There will also be space to extend Jaylon Smith in 2020.

This is were you can give Stephen Jones credit. He learned NFL contract negotiations from Bob Ackles and unlike his father, he has been frugal ever since.

If CB Anthony Brown shows improvement while working offseason with Aqib Talib, CB Jourdan Lewis keeps improving and rookie CB Michael Jackson shows he can play this year, it's going to be curtains for Byron Jones.

Rod Woodson & Deion in their prime were shut down corners ; Jones is nowhere near that type of player , much less as good as Patrick Peterson................................I'm not suggesting simply letting him walk , but there needs to be some type of perspective.

One of the best and most impactful improvements this team has made in the last 5 years is its improved cap management. That used to be a joke. Now it has put this team in better position to compete for playoff glory. Now if the coaching can step up....

All I know is this, every single season people complain about the salary cap. And every single season we find a way around it. Maybe the difference is we don't have to find a way around it we can just not have to worry about it any longer yeah right

It's only been an issue because of the fans it's never been an issue for the franchise. Mathematicians accountants they have them by the dozens and found a way around it. I think people put too much into salary cap
