I’m not trying to act like some choir boy. When I was his age I was arrested a few times myself, after the 2nd time in as many weeks for a total of 3 “infractions” that I disagreed with, and one that I was wrongly charged with, I knew I had to change my ways or my rap sheet would get longer and longer, eventually limiting my career opportunities. Zeke just doesn’t get it and neither do some of you, no offense.

I’ve always figured something would come of it, whether a talk, a fine or a suspension. They aren’t going to keep letting him act a fool without doing or saying something. Basically he’s like a kid that was grounded and continues to break his parents rules whether he agrees with them or not, it’s no going to continue. I just thought it would be later in the off season.
At least they are getting the meeting over with now instead of waiting till right before the season starts. Another reason I think it’s a good talking too or a fine. Game checks or something. But even if it’s a talking too I have no doubt that he will likely do something else dumb. Unless he finally grows up from this. Get into there check book gets there attention and I bet he already wrote that guard a check. I worried about Dez for his first 3 or 4 years also.

Same here, glad this is taking place now.

I really do think he's just getting a chewing out and the real question about that is what good will that do?

It could be...and if this was his first and only incident, I would probably assume you’re correct. Hard to say with Goodell, though....I think he places a lot of weight on ‘pattern of behavior’

Umm...Zeke isn’t the aggrieved party in this one. He actually did this, and he should have known better. Goodell’s a treacherous snake, but if Elliott is suspended again this time, he deserves it.

BS, yea what Zeke did was stupid... but SUSPENSION WORTHY? If this is suspension worthy, every time a player on national TV does anything stupid (uhm, how about an OBJ meltdown on the sidelines) that makes the league look bad.... that should also get a suspension.

Bringing it up in the CBA talks is one thing...it’s a chip to be bargained. A lot of issues are chips. I don’t think this one thing, by itself, is enough to make the players unite and strike. At the end of the day, cooler heads will prevail and think “it’s not worth it”
What % of the players does this affect? This is not a bargaining chip at all.

If I am a teammate of a moron that can't get around the drug testing and I can, why would I give up anything for his stupidity? Same goes for not going out in public drunk. Think these guys don't party?

I should have phrased that better. What he did wasn’t worthy of a suspension. The fact that he’s in front of Goodell again and gave the league the power to suspend him over this is entirely Zeke’s own doing. He needed to avoid situations like this—which really is not all that hard to do—and he doesn’t.

And the two most interested in this outcome aren't Booger & Son or Garrett & Moore, that would be Pollard & Weber.

If it's gonna happen, good that they have the time to prepare for it. And not only would we get a look at the two new RB's, we'd get a look at the new OC without his best weapon. This could get veeeeeerrrrrrrry interesting.
I think if he was goin to suspend him he would have waited till the day before the opening game. Lol. Or during the season. To many other players have done stupid things and not been suspended over it. But they weren’t on there second round either. Not Elliot’s first trip to the principals office.

If I am Pollard and Weber then I am studying that playbook a little harder now.

now that we can agree upon. Zeke obviously becomes a an angry drunk. KNowing how high profile he is, if I am jerry, I pay some clown 100k (chump change) to go wherever zeke goes when he is in public. I would ensure he doesnt do something stupid. A small price to pay to protect my ivestment.

True, it was a video. We all know what it was but they can’t prove it and they would be opening a whole new box of worms by suspending people for unknown substances in pictures or videos. Dak would fall under that category.
OBJ video could easily fall under the conduct detrimental.
Dont need to PROVE it was drugs, the perception off what it was by the public is all that matters.

Man, you guys are defeatism at its finest. Some of the hyperbole in this thread is just nuts.

Then so does every other player who got drunk and involved in an altercation this past offseason.

That includes Tyrone Crawford. It also includes several lower profile players like Eagles CB Jalen Mills and Panthers OG Taylor Hearn.

This is high-profile targeting and grandstanding. No better way to rattle the saber for the league than do take out one of it's most visible players.

I mean really, would anyone be surprised if he was suspended? No matter how small the incident and whether he was guilty or not the first time, he was put on notice that he can’t screw up again.

Since he was under investigation and since he was suspended, he’s been involved in one highly questionable incident that the NFL could have investigated but didn’t (even though everyone claims Goodell is out to get him), the parade and now am incident with him on video intimidating and initiating physical contact with someone which is clearly against the rules.

If this was his first incident it would most likely been a non issue but this knuckle head continues to ignore the NFL’s warnings and openly defy them. That’s what makes Zeke’s case different than most others. Whatever he gets, if anything, he brought entirely upon himself. If his brain was as big as his head he wouldn’t be in this position.
Yeah, anyone siding with Elliott on this one is really homering it up. He knows he has to walk the narrower line.

What he did doesn't warrant any action except for the fact they have this history with him and don't think they don't have some info on his days at OSU and what prompted his father to move to Columbus. They know more about this one player than any other.

He just doesn't seem to get it, stay out of the news!! That's all they care about. Don't force them to do something because unlike some here, I don't think this is Goodell's favorite part of the job. Players break the rules and the fans get mad at him for doing what the owners pay him to do, protect the shield.

I bet there are a lot of low profile events that they investigate and we never hear anything about them. But if there's a video, they get operational pronto pronto because Goodell is very sensitive to anything people can actually see.

IF THE PLAYERS UNION is smart during this next CBA..its worth holding out in order to remove Goodell from any player discipline decision making process,PERIOD. Much more than a mere bargaining chip. He has proven to be feckless and inept and most of all..corrupt. We need a new process.
