There is no downside to this. They clearly acquired Quinn as insurance for Gregory.

If Gregory gets reinstated, great. Awesome depth at DE. If he doesn’t, the team has already taken precautions to handle him not playing.

There is no downside to this.

LOL how is that Gregory’s fault that fans stupidly get their hopes up?

That’s on the fans who somehow can’t use common sense here.

It also doesn’t explain why some of you have your panties in a bunch over him trying to get reinstated.
Why do you care so much? Neither you, me or any other fan is responsible for Randy’s unpredictable availability — nor will any of us have a say-so in how it gets resolved.

The NFL has drug abuse programs in place even for suspended players. And indefinite suspension is not a firing. It is in the CBA that the NFL withholds the right to reinstate said player once they feel he’s met specific parameters. No different than a police officer being put on leave for snorting cocaine in public. Nothing they’re doing is breaking any labor laws.

Try suspension without pay at Burger King for someone addicted to pot with an established mental illness that doesn't affect their work, and see how that flies with the ADA.

NFL players are part of a Union.... They get laid off not fired. Unions have so many loop holes to protect itself.

Even if they reinstate him after missing a test, he will just fail the next test he actually takes, so what's the point? Because Jerry.

I think someone said that Gregory has passed his tests since New Years. And he had to be passing them all last season. He was probably getting tested every week.

I suspect he got drunk during New Years and his usual inhibitions were let down.

Why not take this issue even further by electing representatives who will federally abolish prohibition on consuming marijuana ? And all of this will go away.

But allowing athletes to smoke pot when citizens are still being incarcerated is a double standard in society.

I am not saying allow them to smoke I am saying decriminalize like just about every state has done...meaning make it limited to a smaller fine.

Eggzactly. That 2014 D was a bunch of JAG's for the most part. The team strengths were Romo, Murray , and the OL.

See any stars here?

DE Jeremy Mincey 31 7 16 New England Patriots / 6th / 191st pick / 2006
DE George Selvie 27 4 13 St. Louis Rams / 7th / 226th pick / 2010
DT Tyrone Crawford 25 2 15 Dallas Cowboys / 3rd / 81st pick / 2012
DT Nick Hayden 28 6 16 Carolina Panthers / 6th / 181st pick / 2008
MLB Rolando McClain 25 4 12 1.0 sacks, 2 interceptions, 0 fumbles recovered Oakland Raiders / 1st / 8th pick / 2010
LB Bruce Carter 26 3 8 Dallas Cowboys / 2nd / 40th pick / 2011
LB Anthony Hitchens 22 Rook 11 Dallas Cowboys / 4th / 119th pick / 2014
LCB Brandon Carr 28 6 16 1.0 sacks, 0 interceptions, 1 fumble recovered Kansas City Chiefs / 5th / 140th pick / 2008
RCB Orlando Scandrick 27 6 14 1.0 sacks, 2 interceptions, 0 fumbles recovered Dallas Cowboys / 5th / 143rd pick / 2008
SS Barry Church 26 4 16 0.0 sacks, 2 interceptions, 1 fumble recovered
FS J.J. Wilcox 23 1 16 0.0 sacks, 3 int

What's really brutal is looking at how long the dline rotation lasted in the league *after* that game.

Terrell McClain was out on an already thin dline rotation. We went to the game with only 8 dlinemen.

2 players never played another NFL snap.
4 more were out of the league by the end of the next season.
All these rejects accounted for 3 100% positions on the dline for that game.

Snaps in Game/Snaps Remaining in Career/Years Remaining in Career
31/0/0 Anthony Spencer
18/0/0 Josh Brent
22/35/1 Ken Bishop
37/370/1 George Selvie
46/380/1 Jeremy Mince
50/580/1 Nick Hayden

22/lots Demarcus Lawrence
46/lots Tyrone Crawford

This is gonna be interesting this season. Roster spots are coming hard.. We have depth. How many WR are we keeping, how many D-Line or O-Line.. TE..

does this ever get old? it's the same tired reasoning for keeping any player apparently.

Doesn’t get old for me. We have our top two DEs already so Gregory getting reinstated is icing on the cake. He’d be our third best DE easily if he came back.

If he doesn’t get reinstated, no biggie.

There is like zero downside here.

I think it’s hilarious how some here have such bizarre bitterness over the fact Gregory is trying to get reinstated.

They should be subject to whatever the state law is. If Gregory was busted in Texas 3 or 4 times he’d be in prison.

If they’re going to lift pot as a banned substance then they should stop playing football in states where it’s illegal and perhaps stop televising in those states as well.

Can you imagine having states where we incarcerated people for possession of alcohol.

Why does anyone who wants to smoke pot even live in those states where it’s illegal ? They should all move. Why risk going to jail ?
