Anyone else trying to watch this? I got 2 episodes deep into this last night and wondered if they'd changed the name to "Stupid Things"? As in everyone in the freakin' show. I not only don't care if they all die, I was wishing for it.

Maybe it's just me but I do not recall anything good that starts with a bad portrayal of a cigarette smoking Russian. Couldn't they just buy stock footage of that?

If you're deeper into this, tell me it's OK to keep going and not try a self lobotomy

I am waiting for the right time to watch it because once I start I usually cannot stop--unless it is for bathroom breaks. :p

Finished it last night and it did improve but the writers and directors find adolescents a lot more charming and entertaining than I do. However, they did introduce one new character that's a little scene stealer, the chick that worked at the ice cream shop.

This show is aptly named and they don't have to explain strange or stranger things, the fact that their stranger lets you know you're not getting a full explanation. Strangers things just have to be accepted for what they are, stranger than strange.

It does get better but I don't know if it's 8 hours more better. I was already invested so I figured what the hell, it's only time but I am glad that I didn't die at the end because that's not how I want to spend my last hours.

I would have liked it better if they'd done their homework better and not used words like "nerd" and "chill out" that did not exist in 85. And they could use an acting coach, several of them.

I think if I had been becoming a teenager in 85 instead of having one entering it, I might have identified better with it. I was looking for a teenager exterminator. There should be a place to send them all, "Hormone Island", and then they can come back after they're human again.

But, it's a monster movie and I am all about the people in monster movies just serving as sustenance and look at them as "monster energy bars" so they don't have to show any acting chops. However, I want more monster and less people. I mean the movie was called "Godzilla", not "A Bunch of People Waiting for Godzilla".

Revenge of the Nerds came out in '84. I'm pretty sure my friends and I were using the phase "chill out" back then as well, but I have no evidence to support such an outlandish claim.

I watched it an hour after it dropped. Totally enjoyed it, I thought they did a fantastic job. As for finding adolescents charming, I think they’re going for that Goonies vibe and following. I will say this though it was a bit of a slow start.

I assumed that would be but Hopper was a total ninny baby, he was acting like Wynona Ryder. They'd make a nice couple, Crazy and Crazier.

I haven't watched all of Stranger Things seasons 3 yet, but I was like "waaaaiiiiittt... 9-1-1 wasn't a thing everywhere yet. Heck, in 1989 only 50% or so of the country had access." But then I looked it up. Huntington Indiana implemented it in 1968 and it spread slowly in that area (other states also started that early.) That surprised me. And looking it up, 9-1-1 STILL isn't universal. It's close though.
