As much as I don’t really want to defend him, no, this is not him throwing shade at Witten himself.

If anything, he was throwing shade at whoever determines the depth chart.

That really depends on his attitude. If he 1) shows that he's eager to learn and listens and corrects his mistakes quickly, 2) Is always on time, 3) If he has a legit complaint, phrase it the right way with the right attitude rather than make it adversarial and other things are a huge factor. It's not just about talent on the field (though that's the huge factor). He's all about Rico and not the team from what I've seen of him, so of course he can't control where he is on the depth chart....cause he has no diplomatic skills.
