Twitter: We forget, selecting Zeke 4th overall was more about Romo, not Dak

Once Romo went down then all bets were off.

Not sure but pretty sure that if Romo was healthy in 2016 that we would have won the SB. This team was stacked in Romo favor. From the line to WR. All players that Romo loves working with and we’re familiar. And had another star RB that would have made his job easy. The swan song drive at the end of that year from him looked so effortless for him to execute. Imagine that kind of play all season. Or in the playoffs.

1000% ........guess we probably can say the Super Bowl that got away. No question, a HEALTHY Romo and Zeke would have likely delivered the trophy.

The Offense is built so well that a rookie QB came in and took us to the playoffs. Now I do think that Dak is a very good QB and that helps for sure. But was still a rookie and this Offense helped him produce one of the best performances ever from a rookie QB.

Yeah, but it was another playoff game where the defense gave up 30+ (Cowboys have never won such a game) so Romo would've needed to effortlessly put up 40. I'm hoping someday to see another defense that can clamp down when necessary in the playoffs.

Look at last season. New England only put up 13 points but their defense saved them in the SB. Against the Chiefs their offense carried them. Too often this century the pressure has been on the Cowboys offense to overcome their own defense, and we see how many rings that has gotten them.

I have to agree there. Romo's passing with zekes home run ability in year one would have made it almost impossible to stop us defensively. Dak played well. I have no doubt in my mind that Romo would have been better going into the playoffs. If he could stay healthy. That's the question for me. Dak is far more durable. It was almost impossible to give the reins back to Romo on an 11 game win streak

It’s definitely a team game. To me on the trenches and that includes a D-Line. Looked good all year long until it counts. I was thinking if a QB could have put up the points necessary and keep our Defense off the field it would have been Romo. We had a lot of blow drives that happens from having a rookie QB and the team not meshing.

People are out there still crying that they didn’t draft Ramsey?

Get over it already.

I have never seen so much hand wringing over a team that drafted an all pro caliber player who is one of the best in the league. Regardless of position. They just as easily could have screwed up and drafted a complete bust.

tough decision for sure but if TR was truly healthy, the wrong decision was made. You gotta take your chances with a vet for a 3 game playoff run. Besides, its not like you couldn't have had some packages for Dak.

They were wrong then and are still wrong.

Elliott is a player that can be a cornerstone of an offense. Ramsey is not a cornerstone player on his own defense. In fact, good luck getting a cornerback that has that kind of effect. That kind of player comes along once in a generation. Only Sanders and Revis have had trans-formative effects on their teams. Ramsey is not in that ball park.

Did not want to start a thread on this but this was a pretty hot take from Jeff Cavanaugh:

He had me until the suggestion that trading a three for Duke Johnson was somehow going to come close to matching what we lose if Elliott were traded.

I was surprised that they didn’t give Romo the team back. My guess is that the last injury was worse than we knew. Or it happened so easy that he wouldn’t have made it the rest of the year. Would love to have the trophy but not of Rome ends up in a wheelchair over it.

Would have produced a lot of points and kept out Defense fresh.

I really think that this FO wants to keep Elliot long term. If he can keep himself out of trouble and healthy then he is a game changer. That close game when Dak hit him on that long pass showed me he is complete. Made the catch like it was nothing. Gonna be a chunk of change and we really have 2 years to make up our minds. I think he would sit out if we tried to tag him.

He is still so mad that we didn’t pick him. We did better in our selection.

Hawk. Was Romo going to score more than 31 points?
That's not to mention that we would then have to play that team that killed the Packers by 23 points. Then beat the team that beat that team in the Super Bowl.

We would have put up a better game than the packers did for sure.

This logic is hilarious. Romo had shown zero up to that point that he could lead a team even close to a Super Bowl but so many just pencil it in as Romo would easily win it.

Tell me, how much better would Romo have played in the Packers playoff game? Dallas got the #1 seed. Romo could not have did better than that (obviously). Dak's playoff game against GB was magnificent, especially for a rookie. He only made one single mistake and brought this team back from 21-3 to tie the game and could have won it had Garrett not played for the tie at the end and spiking the ball. Also, that defense was horrendous. Romo has never shown he can overcome a terrible defense to take a team anywhere.

But yall can have the fairty tale Super Bowl people love to give Romo for 2016....
