Randy Gregory, David Irving could return to the Dallas Cowboys in 2019
https://thelandryhat.com/2019/07/11/dallas-cowboys-randy-gregory-david-irving-return/2/

*(Folks, read all of this one...)

The Dallas Cowboys defense could have the services of both Randy Gregory and David Irving this upcoming season. Here’s how …

In late February, news broke that Dallas Cowboys‘ defensive end Randy Gregory had been suspended again for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. Before the Cowboys’ fanbase could get over the shock of Gregory, it was announced that defensive tackle David Irving was also suspended for violating the league’s substance abuse program just two days later...

In an interview that appeared on the Dallas Cowboys Official YouTube Page, Jones was asked about Robert Quinn and what the veteran defensive end brings to the field following the offseason trade that brought him to Dallas. The Cowboys executive went on to talk about the status of both Gregory and Irving...

“Well, I think obviously defensive line with our challenges we’ve had with Randy. Certainly, I think Randy’s done, you know is back on it and really doing a great job of getting himself in a position where hopefully he can get back at some point and help us out. But with that unknown being there, and of course having the same situation with David Irving … we really felt like we needed to shore that up.”...

For the rest of the puzzle, I will lean on Dan Graziano, an ESPN Staff Writer. In May, Graziano wrote an article titled NFL, NFLPA announcement to mental health initiative. Slater’s reports from her internal interviews with Jason Garrett and Stephen Jones are more evidence. I believe both are laying the groundwork for a potential new marijuana policy.

The Cowboys front office has a long history of looking at all factors carefully before parting ways with player assets. One of the critical problems that fans don’t consider enough is mental health in players.

For example, during the early nineties when Cowboy fans where celebrating defensive end Charles Haley‘s success on the field, owner and general manager Jerry Jones was dealing with a bi-polar player off-the-field. In my belief, unless people experience mental issues themselves or are close to someone who does, it is almost impossible to understand...

Knowing Jerry, anything is possible.

And they are dreaming. Irving isn't trying to get back.

My recollection on Irving too. But maybe that was just sour grapes while it looked unlikely. I had entirely written him off the team in my mind.

But Gregory I expect back, and this year.

He's half right. Gregory wants to play football and I believe he will get back on the field. David Irving just doesn't care about the game. The writer hurt his case by even mentioning him.

Lets hope as both of these players are worthy talent wise.
This pot thing is totally outdated and should be legal for NFL players to use it for the pain of the game!!!
I'm not even a "Pot guy" I have never used it. I never will. But it's obvious it's a millions times better to use pot than it is to use pain pills. After watching a Aunt and uncle die in their 50's because of Pain pill addiction/ abuse I just can't believe that pot isn't allowed to be used for pain.

I don't think Irving will ever come back to football.

As far as Randy is concerned, Dallas is being forward thinking and hoping the NFL changes it's policy on weed. (which I think is coming, will it be soon enough?) If they do, he comes back and is on a cheap deal for them. If they don't and he remains suspended, he literally costs them nothing.

JJ is one smart cookie

David Irving is so locked up in himself that he's apparently in expectation of the world changing to accommodate him. Whenever that's the case, real communication becomes a futile undertaking. It's certainly not difficult to see why Garrett is so frustrated with him to the point of abandoning any further efforts to deal with him and his inflexibility. David is obviously shutting himself off from reasonable expectations, in favor of campaigning for his own interests. Sadly, he's rendered himself unconnected to the rest of the world. Good luck to Jerry and anyone else expecting him to adjust to reality.

I saw the entire video. You saw and interpreted it in your own way and I, yet another.

It happens. Did you notice how frustrated his interviewer was? I couldn't blame him.

have you ever listened to these guys get interviewed and walk away shaking your head at how damn dumb they are? I have. Didnt do that with Irving. I was actually very surprised at how articulate he was. Tell me something specifically he said that had you just saying, "Damn he is dumb."
Now you could say he is dumb for simply not being able to play by the rules.... but listen to how the drug testing worked and what happened with Irving. Hardly a case of a guy just smoking the blunt. He made it pretty clear it was pretty easy to not pop on a test....... it was something else. His explanation of the treatment program was pretty cool actually. But so many on here didnt take the time to listen to the actual video and hear him speak.

Blame Marinelli. He had a LB playing spy on Rogers on a third and 20 with 12 seconds left. We were playing 10 on 11.
Honestly. He had started coming after rogers in the second half and it was working. Why with 12 seconds left would you pick then to give him time to throw. Force him to throw short.

Yes, isn't it amazing how you're one of the few to intellectually discern how smart Irving is, in contrast to how practically everyone else disagrees with you? I think it's entirely possible, if not probable, that you're listening to what you want to hear, rather than the fact that Irving is someone who lives in his own stubborn perception of reality, regardless of how the rest of the world sees it.

Other players somehow manage to adhere to the laws of the land, while he expects things to change to suit himself and his perceptions of how his idea of a perfect world to be. Sorry but the real world doesn't work that way, despite how we'd all like it to be. Those who aren't willing to adjust to their other than personal idea of an ideal environment will be indefinitely doomed to linger in utter frustration. Funny how the real world works that way.

he doesnt sound very frustrated. He is also perfectly fine with the NFL staying the way they are.... funny how you dont LISTEN to what the man was saying. He walked away from the game... I didnt see where he was demanding the NFL do any changing. People make decisions that many of us simply do not understand.... we do not understand because we arent in their shoes.
I mean, how could he walk away from millions of dollars, right? What an idiot. How the hell could Jerry Seinfield walk away from something like 100 million dollars he was offered for 1 more season of his show? He is clearly an idiot.

He's been examined by psychiatrists who have concluded that he's mentally challenged but yet, you know better because you like the way he talks. If you can't see how he expects the NFL to change to cater to his wishes, you're simply not listening. You pose questions that loudly say that you just don't understand his actions, yet he is somehow smarter than those who are trying to help him. Perhaps you're "misunderstood" yourself? Good luck trying to live in Irving's shoes -- it's likely to be an extremely unpleasant experience if that's your goal.
