K, so that's 6 lol, two of which play FS (Jones, McDougald), one who isn't any better in terms of impacting a game (Baker) and one who...had 32 tackles in 8 starts (Harrison).
Disagree. Part of a player's impact is the consistency w/ which that player does his job. Heath is extremely inconsistent due to an inability to break down to make tackles. This inability to break down is caused by a poor physical trait, lack of lateral agility. Heath is OK as long as he doesn't have to turn. Problem is, a SS can never be consistent if he can't break down.

McDougald will play either spot depending on who takes the other spot. I think Minkah will play SS w/ the other at FS

Every safety in the league, except maybe the top 5 or 6, has inconsistencies. That's the entire point.

He's traditionally a FS, always has been. Right, so at least 1 isn't an SS.

So again, give me 15 guys who are clearly better at SS than Heath. You can't do it, because there is no difference between #12 and #30. They're all the same player in terms of impact on the game.

I missed this before.

But basically your homework is just Googling strong safeties. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that these guys are better than Heath.

All 31 other team’s safeties in the NFL Plus all starting Safeties in the ACC, Big East, Big10, Big12, SEC, Mountain West, AAC, SunBelt, and Conference USA. Did I name enough?

Outside of those, don't really see any starters better. But definitely don't see any worse projected starters
Half of those are not better than Heath.

I am cheering for us to find a better starter at FS and let Heath excel at his best role: ST's and nickel packages.

Heath is best in deep zone. Get him out of the box. An in the box SS better than Heath should be an easy find, and will give Heath a more manageable snap count.

This for me.

For all of the stats, PFF rankings, etc. this one stands out. Basic play here. Stops him, gives us a chance to win the game. Any decent player makes that play on Goff

It's unclear whether Heath should have stuck with the TE or gone after Goff.

My recollection is that Lee flubbed it up. It really should have been a LB to defend against Goff running, not Heath coming off the TE and leaving him to run free. Better to have Goff running free than a TE.

Lol no you didn't. Go look at the guys' numbers you posted and compare them to Heath and tell me how they're better.

I've posted this before, but it was the scheme that got beat, not Heath. He had the TE and stayed with him based on a play that had beaten Dallas earlier in the game. Jaylon was the player who didn't have man-to-man responsibility so, in theory, he should have been accountable for the QB.

Heath isnt a great S, but he was the starter on one of the best defenses in the NFL last year, and he's not THE reason we weren't #1 on defense.

He's a special teams ace that nobody would complain about if he were the #3 S. Unfortunately we aren't stacked everywhere and so he starts. Every team in the salary cap era has their Heaths.

Also:
2018: tied for 2nd most interceptions
2017: most interceptions
2016: tied for 2nd most interceptions
2015: most interceptions

On a team that barely intercepts the ball at least Heath has been as good as any other Cowboy the last 4 seasons, which is nice.
Seeing as how we don't get interceptions, yep that's nice
