Heath isnt a great S, but he was the starter on one of the best defenses in the NFL last year, and he's not THE reason we weren't #1 on defense.

He's a special teams ace that nobody would complain about if he were the #3 S. Unfortunately we aren't stacked everywhere and so he starts. Every team in the salary cap era has their Heaths.

Also:
2018: tied for 2nd most interceptions
2017: most interceptions
2016: tied for 2nd most interceptions
2015: most interceptions

On a team that barely intercepts the ball at least Heath has been as good as any other Cowboy the last 4 seasons, which is nice.
That was from his natural Fs position,
Tell one thing....he would've made the tv picture to effect the play on t.gurleys 45 yard Td jaunt in the playoff game

There aren't more than 11 guys who could make that play on the naked bootleg Goff did on third and 7 in the playoffs...

Riiiiiiiiiiight...

This for me.

For all of the stats, PFF rankings, etc. this one stands out. Basic play here. Stops him, gives us a chance to win the game. Any decent player makes that play on Goff

I can name 31, lol. Joking, he's better than many give him credit for but would rather see him be the 3rd safety and ST ace on this team. He's your classic high effort guy, who's very capable of starting, but is also the 10th or 11th best defensive starter.

Every team needs guys like him. Low cost, high effort.

Hyde
Fitzpatrick
Chung
Adam's
Jefferson
Burnett
Gibson
Harrison
Vacarro
Honey badger
James
Abram
Peppers
Jenkins
Collins
Amos
Neal
Reid
Bell
Baker
Johnson
McDougald

Outside of those, don't really see any starters better. But definitely don't see any worse projected starters
Ha Ha Clinton Dix plays SS these days because Eddie Jackson is a FS. So definitely him.

Jeff is what he is....

He’s the Rex Grossman of safeties .....some games he looks like he a pro bowler and some games he looks like he hasn’t played football before

Heath is not very good and that puts him at about 15th in the league. The reality is that, at SS, there are like 8 difference makers and then #9-32 are all exactly the same.

Most of us would have trouble naming 12 strong safeties at all without looking them up online.

Yes, really. Go ahead and rank #10-30

They're all the same player.
Not even close. Budda Baker, McDougald, Ronnie Harrison. Mia has 3 starting S types who are all better. There's not a position in the NFL where the 11th ranked player is not better than the 30th ranked player.

Laziness.

No joke.

And w/ today's D's set up to stop the pass, the line between SS and FS is often blurry.

K, so that's 6 lol, two of which play FS (Jones, McDougald), one who isn't any better in terms of impacting a game (Baker) and one who...had 32 tackles in 8 starts (Harrison).
