We've seen it before with others how the Zeke drama will play out

On the flip side what if we and more specifically our offense struggles and Dak isn’t as effective without Zeke .

It’s a huge risk . It could go either way. If we started like 0-2 or 1-3, etc. I could see pressure mounting to sign Elliott.

How foolish could we look if we sign Dak and or Cooper and they struggle without Elliott. We’ve already had a pretty good sample size. I really don’t think Jerry wants to go there again. But we might roll the dice. And if we had success without Elliott he could be totally expendable.

My hunch is it wouldn't turnout so rosy. And it could waste the season and much uncertainty moving forward with two stars you just signed .

I truly believe they’ll try to sign Elliott first. If can’t get it done wait to sign the others until they see how it pans out without Zeke.
 
i think personally with or without zeke the cowboys are not going to make the playoffs I would trade him for a pick then move on

with they way the second part of the schedule is if they start out 0 and 2 or 1 and3 wont be a need to sign zeke the season will be toast
 
Zeke doesn't get an accrued season if he doesn't report by Aug 6, I think it is... He's got TWO years till he can be a free agent. He's got no leverage. He'll come back by August 6 and negotiations will continue. Next year is the year to worry about a long hold out.
 
the key to the cowboys season is dak Prescott and if he takes the next step and Kellen moore if he is as good as they think he is its not about the running back its about the qb always will be always has been

I remember that rookie season, being an Ohio Stater and Cowboys fan watching Zeke run wild and win games. I loved having a star Buckeye in Dallas. But I have to admit the last two years have worn me thin. As much as I don't blame a guy for wanting paid, I wouldn't mind if the Cowboys traded him (provided it was a suitable deal). I'm tired of the drama, and I don't trust him not to screw up and get suspended again.

That said, they'll pay him. You know it, I know it, anyone who has paid attention to Jerry knows it. I just hope the kid grows up and proves me wrong.

I'm in that same boat with you.

I'd be just fine with moving on, but I don't see where anyone will give up anything to gain the headache, or the expense.

I also agree that I fully expect Jerry Jones to end up paying him, and then trying to 'sell it' to the world about how it's a "great thing".

And Jones being wrong about that.

#8 is a given.

He was not up to Zeke speed for the first few weeks last year.

That man may be Nate Newton big when his playing days are over.

Yea. Good point. The schedule does begin soft. We might not miss Elliott as much first 3 weeks.
 
..you forgot #12. Pollard breaks out with 200+ yd opening game. Zeke shows up with Salvation Army Kettle full of sandwiches for the whole team. ;)

It could go either way but I don't really see the down side in your scenario. If we crash and burn without Zeke, then the Cowboys save money against the cap because they no longer have to pay Dak a 30 million plus dollar contract. They are probably looking at something in the mid 20s. Yeah, maybe you have to pay Zeke a deal that gives him 15 or 16 a year but how is that not a win if you are the Franchise?

Or, do ya think, Zeke thought to himself,
"Why bother meself, handsome bloke, with that sweaty training camp? Jolly good time and all tha, but Cabo or East St. Louis has booty, has drank and has peeps to push around! I will save meself the bother and show up healthy and more better handsome when the season begins!" ?
 
I normally love Jerry but his comments on Zeke today is the Jerry I don't like. I don't get what's going on. Stephen says he's the straw that stirs the drink and Jerry acts like he doesn't matter. I don't think Dallas wants to give him Gurley money-the one big thing I took away today.
