I think Cooper doesn't care to be locked up ASAP because of that.

He sees that market possibly blowing up over 20mil AAV this offseason or next. Wait a bit till guys exceed OBJ's deal and then ask for a bit more over. Especially if he has another good year here.

Yeah, he doesn't seem scared about the risk of injury at all. That makes it an even tougher negotiation, on top of all the leverage you lost when you gave up a first round pick to acquire him.

They're going to take it on the chin with his deal I think.

Jerry may not appreciate it but @Ranching is right in that he and his dopey son have been telling the world their intentions when they didn't have to say anything, and now they'll look like fools if they don't follow through. They can't resist an open mic and just say "we'll do what's in the best interest of the Dallas Cowboys."

"Never tell anyone outside the family what you're thinking." - The Godfather

Yup, I hated they said this.. and what does Zeke want? Gurley money.

...now he doesn't know whether to slay it or feed it!
Jerry going around and telling every open mic that we were going to sign Dak, Coop and Zeke. What did he expect? If he doesn't sign these guys it's gonna be a long tension filled season. Zeke gets signed and Dak doesn't, I don't think Dak will be happy and vice versa. He needs to find a way to sign them all before the season. IMO
Only one that’s not in a hurry is Cooper. They will sign Dak and Elliot this year and Cooper and Jaylon next year. Then have to start moving money around and restructuring contracts to sign others. We have saved up for this. But he can’t give in to stupid money. Daks agent wanting the same amount as Wilson ain’t gonna work. And Elliot wanting 17 a year when the rams over paid gurly for 14 or 15 is stupid.

I heard some talking yesterday saying in the older days most players didn’t want to raise the market or bar that much. When a star came due for a payday they wanted to make 1 dollar more than the previous big deal. It was almost like a joke to them. Now they want millions more.

It's a bold strategy by Zeke's agent, but it won't work. See the Bell situation for a reference.

More scapegoat excuses for Jerry to keep Garrett.
all that is in your mind. thats like saying I need an excuse to get a new car. Jerry owns the team and is RICH. You tthink someone in his position that answers to literally nobody, needs an excuse to do what he wants. If he wants JG, hell keep him. He wont need any, "excuse," as yu seem to think.

Since when is two TD's a game all that impressive? Oh, I get it, two TD's a game on average would be an astronomical improvement for Mr. "I can't hit the broadside of a barn".

It’s all Russell Wilson had to do to get his money. It’s all Kirk Cousins had to do to temporarily be the highest paid qb. It’s all Carson went had to do to get his money. It’s a strong milestone, 2 tds a game.

I didn’t know Jerry is owner of the team and is rich. Lol

No , he doesn’t need excuses but he does have a need to plead to the media posturing himself .

Sounding like a little kid out there Reid with your love fest for Big Daddy. You should stay in your “ Love Jerry” thread. LMAO

JERRY didn't create this Monster on his own. THE CBA ..free agency and such did. Everyone on all sides deserve the credit...BLAME if you will. Until that gets fixed in the next CBA...this has the potential to happen more and more.

Yea but it’s only subject to a very limited amount of Elite talents.

I just find it ammiusing how so many(especiialy you old timer) think Jerry needs to do thins to win over fans or media. I owned a youth sports team(several) and I did what I want and how I wanted with ZERO thoughts about parents or anyone else. That was small potatoes compared to what Jerry gets to do. Keep thinking Jerry needs to do things a certain way if it makes you sleep better at night.

This is the first time we’ve had a player hold out with 2 years remaining on his Rookie contract. I wouldn’t call that an alarming issue in the NFL as it rarely happens.

I’m not sure we’ve had many other players this era with Zeke’s talent level. He’s certainly our highest draft pick this era and arguably the most talented draft pick we’ve had at least in 21st Century.

jerry holds the cards. Zeke in essence has two years left on his contract. this year and next year is the option year. he has to show up to earn a year of the contract (at least 10 games). so we wait. if Zeke shows up and acts up, he hurts himself. he has to come to play....

I hope you at least cared about the kids that played for you.

It depends if the Cowboys are winning. See last year with the we like the WR's we have. That was a desperation move that somehow worked.

Owned a youth sports team? More like volunteered to manage one three days a week in the afternoons, following your regular 9 - 5.

There is no market for youth sports that would require a "team owner". lol.
