Reading Bryan Broaddus articles in DC.com site, (which Broaddus is providing the best detailed camp reports among media thus far)
Broaddus is explaining from his observation that if Taco has to stop his feet ,..and having re-start again, he loses the battle from there.
if he makes a play he has to do it all in one move from the start.

And that makes it comparable to the Taco's scouting profile during draft time, that he doesn't always use his feet and hands in unison at the same time.
and he is the type player where he has to have top techniques and strength to beat blockers because he is not a gifted and explosive athlete.
He has to really gut and grunt for his sacks with top hand/feet usage, while a more gifted, fluid guy, agile and great 1st step guy like Gregory will get his sacks and big plays
seemingly more effortlessly.

Plus I dunno if Taco has that extraordinary relentless high motor that plays like his hair on fire. Is he content with just enough to get by with ?
I don't think limited intangibles and just a so-so motor will do it.

He started 7 games in 2018.

but I do wonder how much had to do with limited choices at hand - as having only Taco, Gregory and Armstrong available as backup ends. while Crawford had to see starting time at DT
because Maliek had his usual issues with injuries that caused him to miss games or be limited in snaps.

Gregory has missed so much time due to suspension, that even Taco may have had more game experience and Rod wanted to better ease Randy back into NFL.
Armstrong a rookie was more on the back page - and he was eventually benched and made game inactive - for Taco's return from being benched himself (attitude or injury?)

That could have a major factor in this team adding even more capable DE bodies in offseason, in both trade, FA and the draft: ala Quinn, Hyder, Jackson, Jelks
And we'll have to see how it all plays out by final 53 roster cut.

Naw he can’t be worse than Barbie. That guy I believe was a top 15 pick if I’m not mistaken.
He went 18th. If you go strictly by draft position, he could be one of the two biggest Cowboys busts ever. Nobody ahead of 18 was nearly that useless, but Sonny Gibbs, also taken 18th (albeit in the 2nd round in 1962), never played a snap for the Cowboys.

We've had lots of busts in the 20s: Billy Cannon (25th, 1984) and Bill Thomas (26th, 1972) were probably the worst.

Just cut him no one would trade a draft pick even a 7th, let the guy go and move on.

Heard it on the break yesterday. Not just beat, but seemed to lack effort in his moves. This dude is getting cut before week 1

I wouldn't put too much stock into these early reports.

I watched video from the 1st padded practice. Connor Williams was blocking A.Woods.
- It appeared that CW lost his footing. Broaddus and minion reported it was CW being dominated by A.Woods.

Really should have ,that guy can put pressure on the QB :hammer:
Didn't these "geniuses" learn from passing up on JJ Watt and seeing how destructive he's been his whole career with the Texans? So, instead, come the 2nd chance around, they decide to pass up on his little brother as well, who btw is tearing it up with the Steelers? SMH.

If we could get a 5th for him I’d take it

You’ll be lucky to get a swap of 5th round picks. More realistically, some team will give up a 6th to get a look-see at the former 1st rounder.

Sucks to miss on a 1st rounder but Armstrong and/or Jackson panning out would lessen the blow. The team also covered their bases with 1 year stopgaps in signing Quinn and Hyder. The team will likely take another swing at DE early in next years draft.

You were paying attention.
Yes, Crawford having to start at DT early in the season because Collins missed games and was limited in others caused Taco to get the starts at RDE.
- Taco and Gregory rotated at RDE early in the season. Gregory more in pass rush situations and Taco more as the "base" DE.
- When Collins was ready and they moved Crawford back to starting at DE, Taco was benched soon afterwards for attitude issues.
- Taco had complained that Gregory got the the "glory" opportunities while he (Taco) did the grunt work.
- This year Quinn is projected to replace the role Gregory played.
- They will again have a big DE rotate with Quinn. Will that be (primarily) Taco, Crawford, Hyder or Armstrong?
