Me too. But the thing for me is that I never expected him to play the option year. And I don’t think the FO did either. But I and they did expect him to honor the rookie 4 year. They were putting together a nice contract for him . Next year.

I agree with some of this but the fact Stephen said he needed Zeke to be patient, makes me wonder if his agent hadn't put them on notice this was possible.

I really don't care. I like the game more than any one player so I root for the ones on the field.

I don't blame fans for being upset, but I also don't blame fans for being okay with it as well.

For me, I treat every player not on the field as injured and move on until they return. Does not matter if they are injured, holding out for a new contract or dealing with family responsibilities.

In the meantime, maybe we can find something special in the other players and if not, at least we know we can keep looking.
Pardon me if I wholeheartedly disagree with you. That's just head in the sand thinking. Ignoring the reason a player is not participating in training camp and potentially in games is just lying to yourself about the reality of the situation... no pun intended.

Of course you can disagree with me. How you enjoy the game is completely up to you.

For me, I don't dwell on the things I cannot control and even if I was upset, it's not like fans griping on a message board are going to make a player change his mind.

Do I wish he was here? Absolutely. .. but he is not, so I focus on those who are.

So true.......not sure why
LOL.....a player can go from great to bad dishwater when contract talk starts

There is more people than some think, that has ALWAYS been for letting him play out his 5 year deal, then tag him for 2 years. There are more people than some think, that we don't need a elite RB, especially one at top pay, to win. There are more people than some think, that it was dumb to take a rb with the 4th pick.

I am tying to put it out of mind right now. Nothing will happen for the next few weeks. They will not practice again until Monday. 4 practices then break TC and go to Hawaii for a game, then back to Frisco.

Zeke would not have play in those games anyway and if he did, he would get maybe 4 to 8 touches.

The FO is concentrating on the team right now, not any contracts for any player. So maybe when back in Frisco, things will heat up. But until then, I try not to think about it, nor respond to it much.

I don’t care that he’s holding out now & missing TC. He can come in and be ready immediately to step on the field. That is UNLESS he comes in like he did last year out of shape.

Now, if his hold out carries into the season, I hope the ‘boys win and show he’s unnecessary. That’s the only leverage he has. I guarantee had the Buffalo LB not picked off Aikman at the goal line and instead the pass was the game winning TD when Emmitt was holding out, there would not have been the urgency to sign Emmitt.

But will this change your opinion of Zeke, if and when this hold out is settled? I've already admitted I'll be upset at him for a long while but if he helps us win another championship, I could forgive him.

I am all about the team and will, of course, pay more focus to those in camp and in games. But I'm not going to ignore Zeke's hold out as if it's just an injury. It's self inflicted, without honor, IMO and for the time being my Zeke jersey is retired.

I feel confident this will get all worked out. I hate seeing holdouts but then again this is not the 1st time I have seen holdouts. I just look forward to Zeke back with the team and until then will look forward to seeing the young backs like Pollard who has been having a great camp. these reps will only benefit him and the team.

Regardless of if I agree with general opinions, I don't see why there is a mystery. Dak and Cooper are here and neither of those two have had to see the Commissioner multiple times for questionable life choices while having the Cowboys leadership doing their best to stand behind them. No suspensions for Dak and Coop, nor the threat of another one looming in the aftermath of his latest gaff. Yet, Zeke is the one that decides to hold out.

Hopefully it gets resolved soon, but I can see why people would be upset with Zeke at this particular moment.

It's because of how most of the fans and the team/Jerry Jones have stuck with him through all of the crap he has brought off the field.

He is high maintenance and unreliable at the most expendable position. He's also a top 5 pick, so it's not like he's living in squalor somewhere and hasn't already made a lot of money.

No,he's under contract. All he has to do is show up.
Tell him to stay at home. The checks in the mail. Tell the team and the agent I won’t deal with that agent anymore. Let the players know it.

I really appreciate this post. It makes a great deal of sense to me and is going a long way toward talking me off the edge of the cliff.

I was. No double standard here.

2 franchise tags are enough for your grandkids kids to retire on. He made a fortune. For some reason, players have this belief that the franchise tags are bad when they most certainly are not.

I'm irritated w/ DLaw for refusing to get needed surgury, and for all the hoopla and such he threw around and for insisting on a contract that paid him more than he was worth(Opinion). I like him as a player, but I believe his contract may be one of the ones that comes back on us.

I was taught you should never worry about another man’s finances. I stick to that. He outplayed his franchise tag twice and was more than deserving of getting paid. He used the only leverage he had and won. Kudos to him. You think Dallas was going to sign him to a long term If he would’ve torn his acl, nope. Like I said, these athletes should get paid more because these owners don’t give a nickel about them and their concern as well is making more money

Unfortunately we the fans are caught between the crossfire

We can win without zeke... but it would be all on Dak if he can get this ship cruising then his contract offer needs to plummet and lose some of his money to pay his RB to CYA

Are the players drug tested when they show up for camp? I think he's hiding from a drug test but I don't know if they are tested for camp that was just my theory.

They're already making generational money, I don't begrudge them that at all.

However, once again, I only care about what they make as it affects the salary cap. If Jerry could pay DLaw a zillion dollars and it wouldn't count against the cap, I'd be all for it.

So, your first sentence doesn't fit this argument at all. I'm not worried even one little bit about his personal finances. I do find it amusing though how you said that and then proceeded to discuss other men's finances!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Question: Why do people keep referring to players' salaries on a personal level? I really can't think of one poster in here who cares what the players make on a personal level. Everyone I've seen is like me, I only care as to how it affects the salary cap. What the players make/do personally is absolutely no concern of mine, aside from how it affects their play.

And another question. When one guy gets a huge, maxed out contract, that is less money that other players can make. So, why are people for just a few guys getting all the money?

I remember D Law holding his injured shoulder for ransom. I also remember ET holding out in Seattle last year and being celebrated for it here.

I love selective outrage.

But we criticized D Law and Seattle didn’t applaud ET

I don’t love points that make no sense

I’m waiting for the season to start. 3 & short and everyone saying

“We need Zeke bad!”

Then once he’s signed

“Why didn’t they give it to Zeke!!!?”
