If I were GM this is what I’d do:
- Find a new kicker. Maher is a 75% guy which isn’t nearly good enough.
- Flip Su’a Filo for a draft pick, he’s too good to just let go.
- Look for a new QB for the practice squad. Mike White is terrible.
- Cut Tyrone Crawford. I want to see Taco share RDE with Quinn. 7m a seasoin was worth it when we needed Crawford to start, once Quinn is back from suspension, Crawford is a backup.
- Trade for a safety. I reckon Oakland might deal Joseph cheaply given they drafted Abrams. Both are box only safeties.
- Trade for a 3rd RB. TJ Yeldon would be a good get and upgrade on Weber/Jackson/Morris.
- Look for an OT for the practice squad, I would gladly put another one on the roster if they were decent but it’s hard/impossible to find one.
- Likewise with blocking TE, hard to find this time of year.

This is all easier said than done, but I would try some or all of this:

-Trade Taco Charlton to Oakland for safety Karl Joseph. Joseph may be a box guy, but we have Xavier Woods at FS and need to think about SS post-Heath.
-Trade Xavier Su'a-Filo for a mid-to-late round pick. Or, just keep him, since Connor McGovern doesn't seem healthy yet.
-Trade Joe Looney for a serviceable every down back in case Zeke doesn't return soon. Adam Redmond has looked good and can replace Looney.

Why does Cowboyszone like Vet RBs so much?

I want an every-down type backup; even if Zeke was here. Pollard looks like the real deal but he's not a 25 carry-per-game guy. I'm not sure how much Alfred Morris has left in the tank and it would be wise to have a little more insurance.

Take backup qb more seriously, find another big 1-Tech, bring in another safety. Trim the dead weight after they aren’t needed...

For blocking TE, we should be working some of our olinemen on the short, basic TE routes. See if any of them can catch a ball. They at least all have big hands for it.

We should have been doing that as a matter of course every year, not simply as a last minute hole filler for this year.

We've got real football players on the oline. Somebody has got to be able to run a 3 yard stick route and catch the ball. Mike Vrabel was a short yardage TD machine coming from LB. Olinemen already know the tough part of being a short yardage blocking TE - the blocking part. They don't need a full route tree.

As for a full featured blocking TE, I don't see that as a priority. The half and half Witten and Schultz guys are probably as much blocking as we want. Or at least we're not interested in TEs who don't show more receiving ability.

We took Olawale as a FB. He's not a hammer, he's a shielder who is also a threat. I don't see us wanting the hammers who are not threats.

Low hanging fruit is in the box SS.

Eric Berry is still on the market. It wouldn't take a draft pick to get him. Jerry is more willing to take health risks than any owner in the league. And he's the only one with a sports medicine center. Berry makes sense here.

They brought him in for a look and passed on him

With Covington and Hyder here, I think we should move on from Crawford

How do you know if Pollard isn't a 25 carry per game back?

I don't know either way. His career high in carries in a season in college was last year's 78. So it's a question if this guy- who was originally a wide receiver at Memphis- can withstand that kind of punishment.

I hope he can.

It's possible he isn't but right now we don't know. Can't go by what they did in college or high school.

Personally I don't want Pollard as an every down back. Use a committee with Jackson and Weber until Zeke is back or trade him and move on.

I want Zeke back, I really do. But if his holdout continues and Pollard ends up being a 1300-yard back, trading Elliott for a first round pick would make for an exciting 2020 offseason.

Trading Looney should only be considered if you are getting significant value in return
