What did Parcells used to say about media reports? Do not eat the cheese? You have been sucked!

yes it is because most every team in the league will negotiate during the FINAL year of a contract.

Is it against league rules to re-negotiate before the final year of a contract? Is Zeke facing a league ban for holding out? What it amounts to is fans not being "comfortable" and players don't owe fans "comfortable" because if fans had their way, players would get peanuts like they did way back when so they could look down on them. Can't with millions being thrown around so you get attitudes towards players like you see now. Green doesn't go with everything though.

If Elliot holds out then there is no way Pollard is going to be able to handle the load in the same way Elliot does. He is a special player that is running behind one of the best O-Lines in the league. It will change the way teams play us. They can actually play the pass and not feel threatened by the run.

Jerry's "joke" just underscores the buffoonery of this organization.

I thought it was up to the team if they wanted to negotiate before the 4th year but couldn’t be until after the 3rd year. What Elliot is doing is a first in the NFL. No player that I know of had ever held out after the 3rd year of a rookie contract.

One of the 2 is going to be eating some humble pie at some point in this upcoming season....
A deal will be done at some point and it will be spun as a win-win, and it should be a win-win. The best deal in any negotiation is where both parties get some, but not all, of what they want. The worst deal is one where one party clearly wins and the other clearly loses - makes for a strained relationship going forward.

The comment was in poor taste. Whether or not it was a joke, I can understand Zeke taking umbrage.

If they couldn't negotiate then this all wouldn't be happening. It's after the 3rd year and they can get it done so Elliott would like to have it done.

So Jerry should do the same? The man is a billionaire business owner. There is no need to punch down at anyone. You feel Zeke has been unprofessional off the field and I agree with that, but he has never opened his mouth to the media and been disrespectful to Jerry or the organization in regards to his contract. However, he has also outperformed his contract while on it and he's holding out like many players do when they outperform their contracts. I don't even think Dallas should be the ones to pay him more than they've offered him. What I do think, is that regardless of what player this was about, Jerry would have been out of line in saying what he said.
I agree Jerry shouldn’t have said anything but it’s peanuts compared to what Zeke has done. Not only has he disrespected Jerry, but the entire organization, in ways much worse than openly talking about contract negotiations which again, he basically is by sitting out. Why is it ok for a player to sit out because they don’t feel they are being paid enough but not for an owner to talk about it? Everyone knows why he’s sitting out, does he really need to say anything? As always, Zeke started this, not Jerry.

I couldn’t care less about out performing his contract. Does Jerry get his money back if Zeke isn’t regarded as the best rusher in the league next year? Would Jerry have got any of his 25 million that was guaranteed to Zeke if he didn’t play up to the Cowboys standards? The answer is no and no, therefore he shouldn’t be able to cripple the entire team because he feels like he deserves it.

I think LVE did a hell of a job as a rookie and outperformed the pay he gets for where he was drafted, would you support him sitting out this year? When does it stop? When exactly do you think it’s ok for a player not to show up for work when he’s under contract to do so? Honest question.

I think the only way there was a win win is if it were done without a holdout. Now, either Pollard shines and Zeke is forced to take the lessor deal or just show up, or Dallas starts very poorly and Zeke gets exactly what he wants. That said, if that happens, Jerry will be fine with it if Zeke continues to perform.

Was definitely a poor choice of words but I think I get what Jerry was trying to do in deflecting from the holdout/negotiations. The agent is just using it as fuel to keep it in the press to add pressure to getting a deal done. It's just negotiation though. The fact that fans hate it makes it a win for the media above all else.

No question about that, he thinks he's funny but this is a contentious situation and he's already intimated that Pollard could replace Elliott after that 1st pretend game.

And I took your suggestion and will be gone from the forum for a little while.
Take her slow Coach.

It's Jerry. He doesn't care about winning. Only about staying in the news. He's a dumb, senile old man.
He is neither dumb or senile. But he has a huge, insatiable ego. Sometimes people speak before they think. .This was one of those times.
