If he wanted to take that chance I would support his right to do it, sure. I'm in favor of players getting what they can. We wouldn't be here if owners weren't screwing players way back when but no one ever cares about the cause for why something is the way it is.
Well personally, I think these guys get paid more than enough to play a game and should stick by their contracts. Zeke already has more money than any of us could ever dream of and he’s holding out based on his ego which is the size of his head. He has no concept of team, if it were’t for this O line there’s a good chance he wouldn’t have the stats and success to support his demands as being paid most money.

Anyways, I don’t agree with it but I respect your honesty and opinion.

Jerrah prob shouldn’t have said it, but he literally clarified almost immediately that he was kidding. Zeke and his agent need to stop being butt-hurt babies for crying out loud.
Why? They did what was smart, used it for their benefit and Elliott was smart to have his agent do the talking. They both know he was trying to be funny and flippant but that was a gift.

Public opinion matters to Booger and those already in Elliott's corner dig in deeper with this "insult" and blatant show of disrespect. Use what they give you and overplay it for those that don't look for the details. Righteous indignation plays well and the Elliott fans are readying the torches.

I thought Jerry's comment was very funny, and meant as a joke. However, in today's PC world, its best not to say such things, as some have thicker skin than others. You just can't joke around in today's world I guess.
I don't think Jerry meant any disrespect to Zeke, nor do I think Zeke should feel disrespected....he'll get his respect in the sum of multi-millions. Isn't that the respect he really wants anyways?

Stop right there. There is no but. What you mentioned is lucrative and Zeke wants the return on that value because he's not getting it now. It's possible to get it now so Zeke wants it now. That's where we're at. Owners would get rid of him if it were the opposite situation. Strike first is the order of the day in this league.

Nope, won't "stop right there" - i understand what you are saying - except it has nothing to do with my posting about an agent saying Jerry's quote was disrespectful and stating my 2 bits that Zeke is being disrespectful too. I am NOT arguing Zeke's value, not debating that RB's are undervalued and should be paid earlier or anything like that - I am responding to the "respect" factor. Zeke could be at camp and still negotiating. I think he deserves more money - but that has nothing to what I was referring to in the thread.

Jerry got fined for millions sticking up for the guy after the standoff with league/commish - you think he isn't PIZZED and feeling disrespected that Zeke doesn't show up for pre-season? Respect is earned and goes both ways.

Is Zeke respecting Dak and Cooper and Byron Jones by holding out early? They have contracts expiring before him and could argue they are being underpaid too.

By your logic, Byron, Dak, Cooper, and every other player in early stages of their contract, with any type of statistical success, should be holding out as well. THEY have also made the pro-bowl. Plus, they haven't screwed up repeatedly off field and had to have papa Jerry hold their hand numerous times.

Yes, owners cut players all the time mid-contract - they have to pay guaranteed money and eat the Cap disasters that come out of it also. Players agreed to a rookie salary cap and the contract structures, they will try to change it next negotiation and it should be adjusted.

And Jerry has nearly always spoiled his players, and also stuck up for many of them after they were off the team - those with addictions and immaturity/tough backgrounds and criminal pasts. There are many examples of that. Many successful teams (Patriots and Steelers and few others come to mind) strike me as being far more ruthless with contracts and cuts than Dallas - but that is a perception, would need to delve into the evidence.

I find it absolutely hilarious they are talking about disrespect. How about showing respect to the guy that stuck his neck out for you when you missed 6 game because of your poor choice in women and not holding out with 2 years left on your deal?

In Jerry's situation, I would say: "We are moving on without Zeke. We are operating with the assumption that he has retired from the NFL".

This is the prevailing attitude of the public and why the media always trumps up what players ask for in negotiations with both sides knowing that will never happen. But it stirs up the "outrage" that gets the clicks they want. It's also why fans almost always side with owners when a deal gets hammered out even though as I said, the owners are why we're here seeing all this. If I were a player, I wouldn't give 2 spits what the public thought either and wipe my tears with $10 bills after I signed, lol.

They all hold out based on their ego, an ego fed by their agent. And that having more money than most of us isn't their point. Their comparisons are not that.

Does any NFL player have the concept of team? The teams are all temporary, rivalries are gone because they could be playing with those guys next season. Players are trading jerseys at the end of games. Players openly offer their services to teams that've just played like Lewis and Thomas. Team only exists in a small temporary window.

aria, there is only team Elliott and that team knows the cap is 188M and they're only get 3M of that and have been told by everyone they are the most important part of that team. When he was on the field, when did he fail to give everything he's got? Including going airborne and risking injury?

I don't agree with any of this but the NFL has built this system of a contract is not really a contract and they have little in place to enforce them. They do not treat them as binding contracts. These owners do not run their other businesses like this.

Did I personally say you? Your dang right my hate for this PUNK is strong. I wouldn’t consider it worse than your support considering you support someone that bullies people half his size and women, but hey, he’s your boy and he wears a Star so if that’s what you’re about than support on.
I guess cuz I used to be that bully, I can relate to the loneliness that guys like him go through. He just wants you to love him, and 15 million a year.

Yeah, Zeke is holding out and he feels disrespected. Look, I am all for paying him top RB money next season. I don't even care about the petty BS he does off field. But C'mon.
