It is not about replacing Zeke. Zeke is an all world talent. You don't replace that. But that doesn't mean that we can't win without Zeke. Zeke would make it easier but is that worth the cost.

Let's say:

Zeke averages 140 yards a game
Without Zeke, they aver 124 yards a game.. what is that 16 yards worth?
Not far off from 2017. 144 yds as a team with Zeke and a healthy OL and 5-4 record. 127 yds as a team without Zeke and a healthy OL and a 3-1 record.

The irony is funny. Yet most of these Zeke or die guys also dont like Dak.

And is if some QB could be drafted or signed next season that would replace Dak.

Its a mindless argument. No one RB has to replace Zeke. Not at all.
QB is the hardest to replace. They forget the 15 season.

I would take this trade off 10 out of 10 times for Zeke:

Zeke

or

1. Tony Pollard
2. High end level FA DT for 15 million with the money you save by not paying Zeke
3. First round pick in the trade you get for Zeke (First round Safety in next years draft)
4. 3rd round pick in trade you get for Zeke (3rd round RB you pair with Pollard)
5. Veteran RB that you can sign to team with Pollard and the 3rd round back in next years draft.

And you dont get the off the field, idiot, drunken, suspension problems.

We now have a potent inexpensive RB by committee for the next 3 to 4 years, A top 3 defense with all major holes filled, and no distractions or suspensions.

I love what Zeke brings to this team, but you are dead on. This is how we should be looking at this situation, although it remains to he seen what hes worth in trade.

Agreed, but why do some completely overlook his off the field antics and lack of leadership? Thats all part of what he brings to the team.

There are 3 or 4 backs drafted this year that could lead the NFL in rushing behind our line if given 390 carries.

Brandon Jacobs a first round pick of the Raiders, Miles Sanders the 2nd round pick of the Eagles, and David Montgomery the 3rd pick of the Bears this year.

And those are just the 3 that I have studied for fantasy purposes.

A capable threat he will be....with Zeke. I don't see the Cowboys offense evolving from being Zeke-centric this year and definitely not on the back of a guy who hasn't carried the load since perhaps HS. Dak will need Zeke.

perhaps. But we have a great line, solid qb and great receivers.

They don't need to fully replace Zeke. They just need a group of RB's to put up 1600+ yards. Maybe Dak will run more to make up for it. Maybe they'll just throw more short passes.

It's amazing what fans will talk themselves into.

We go nowhere without Zeke this year

We have Pollard and nobody else and we don't even know if Pollard can do it.

The Cowboys draft high and spend their money on the Oline. They should draft a replacement RB every 4 years. Zeke is great. But he is a power back with few moves, takes a lot of hits. His 6 TDs and 4 yards a carry may very well be replaceable. Gurley had 21 TDs last year.

Zeke's already half way to Murray's total carries before he quit. His best days may be behind him and he and his agent probably figure that and want to cash in before his production starts to slide.. Marion the Barbarian got a big payday to. And kept getting it from Dallas long after he was done.

Zeke 18th in TDs, 17th in yards per carry,

1st in carries, yards and fumbles.

I don't know what Pollard might do this year, although at this point in time, I wish him the best. Zeke's his own worst enemy and doesn't deserve any more respect than what Jerry gave him! I'll be content to pull for Pollard and hope he shines in 2019. In the meantime, Zeke can go flip himself.

Dak was awful when Zeke was suspended against good teams. Couldn’t even break 10 points, didn’t even find the end zone if I remember correctly, and we got blown out for three straight games against Atlanta, Eagles and San Diego. Against mediocre teams out of the play-off Hunt and teams in turmoil he bus drove his way to wins with garbage offensive play including like 100 yards against the garbage Commanders. The offense floundered against the Giants and Oakland Raiders. The Giants, Dak got 140 yards passing off two five yard dump offs where the Giants blew their coverages and Rod Smith ran like 70 yards and Beasley ran about 50 yards.

Surprise surprise.. Dak once again does well on his first scripted drive in pre-season against second string scrubs, while playing with pretty much the first team offense. Wait until he has to play after the first scripted series and he has to go through his progressions.

Zeke's YPC was 4.7 last season. If you have to lie, your point is not well made.

Incidentally, Zeke's career YPC is 4.7. Gurley's is 4.4. Research is your friend!!!!

Why do posters feel this extremely strange need to tell others what to think?
