What does Cooper Rush bring to this team?

how do you know Kitna has had any impact on him? Maybe it is just the fact he is in his 3rd year and its just a natural progression, in addition to Cooper just feeling more comfortable in his roll? Kitna may deserve tons of credit, but you dont have a damn clue what Kitna has or hasnt done. Are you in their meetings?

All we have to go on is the evidence. Both Dak and Cooper Rush have experienced a significant upsurge in their performances in both their minicamps, OTAs and training camp. The preponderance of evidence is there to be clearly observed or ignored, depending solely upon the individual's judgment. I much prefer to acknowledge someone's progress than to deny it and thereby discourage their likelihood to continue asserting themselves as it is so necessary. Their jobs are plenty difficult enough as it is, without fans turning a blind eye to their progress. Let's acknowledge their efforts and their progress, according to what we see. That's what real fans are for, imho. You can either be one or continue ignoring the evidence, your choice.

After Garrett is done throwing Kellen Moore under the bus, and using him as an escape goat ...

Cooper Rush will get immediately promoted to O.C. , with 'his brilliant Football mind' & 'We like our guys' excuse.

I do it all for you. I try hard to educate you so that 99% of the football world doesn’t laugh at you for being a Dak homer. You 1%ers are embarrassing the rest of the Cowboy fans.

What?! What in the world have you been watching? Rush couldn't be trusted to hold it down for one quarter, much less games. There are not many backup QBs who can do what you described and Cooper Rush isn't even close to being that. This team would lose every single game he started. Matt Cassel is 10x the QB he is and we couldn't win with him. And he won 11 games as a starter in 2008.Cooper is a bum that doesn't even belong as a backup.

What did Rush do that was so bad? I saw most of the game and when I watched he was completing passes in the deep middle of the field. He had good chemistry with Wilson and Smith, I just don't what else you want him to do?

Agree, so who had an affect on him his rookie year?

He's got to be one of the worst backup QBs in the league. Guys like Mark Sanchez and Matt Hasselbeck bounce around the league forever, because they have starting experience and can see the field. It's almost like having an extra coach.

Rush doesn't have starting experience that translates to games or seeing the field as a backup. His skills haven't really improved since he came into the league. Every ball he throws floats forever. No zip at all. He has a long windup, although he does seem to be reasonably accurate, but that's the only trait I can think of that is a positive. He doesn't really have much pocket presence or agility.

I know the peanut gallery will say we are screwed if Dak goes down, but what if it is just a couple of games and we need someone to keep us relevant? I don't think Rush is the guy to do that.

I’ve said it for a while, this FO thinks with its heart not with its head

Horrible back up qb position

He was 15-25 for 173 yards, what's horrible about that? His average per attempt was 6.9 yards which is pretty good. I just don't see what was so "horrible" about his performance.

I felt Rush had good command of the offense, he is finding the open man and delivering it on time. Really has looked better than he has over the past 2 season.

Still think he’s a practice squad player at best. Get a real veteran in here.

This team is supposed to be a SB contender
We were told last 2 years that they were real contenders yet this FO went with Rush as primary back up

If you honestly believe that Rush could have gone 2 of 3 against real NFL defenses if Dak had gone down for a stretch of 3 games then more power to you, I don’t believe it for a second

The reality is that this FO has a blind spot for several critical positions like back up QB, safety, 1T DT, special teams which cost teams games at critical times

Sanchez and Hasselback are really poor examples. Sanchez just sucks and Hasselback was a quality starter for a long time!

"Evidence?" So you telling me that the very LIMITED amount we have seen Dak you are ready to jump on the train that says he has improved under Kitna? Cmon, that is ABSURD.

Nobody.... I mean, didnt he have one of the greatest seasons for a rookie QB in the history of the NFL? So arent we to use that evidence and give credit t the coaches he had his rookie year? Werent those the same guys he had in his crappy second year?

We have a 6 or 7 (scale 1-10) as a starting qb, if Rush comes in and plays at a 5-6 level then the dropoff won't be significant. It's not like Dak's is Mahomes, Rodgers or Brady.

Now that is well stated.

And seriously, we're just a bunch of fans on a message board cheering and evaluating and assessing and such. Absolutely nothing wrong w/ gathering info and attempting to come to a conclusion.

When that level drop includes not having the arm strength to throw those bullet outs and fit the ball into tight windows, and it does, that dropoff is way more than significant, it's monstrous. It's a grand canyon type chasm.
